YAHOO!!!!! I held my breath when I stepped on the scale, but I am DOWN 3 POUNDS!!

I am so excited, although I can't pig out in retalliation!! Sigh! I love it when things work! So I guess I will stick to the regimen for another while. I have a lot to go!

After all the talk in the news this week about calories being the key factor in losing weight and burning fat, I had my doubts about my style of diet which doesn't keep track of calories much at all----mine just keeps track of carbs. But this has worked for me in the past, and apparently it will still work for me. I say, WHATEVER WORKS!

Good luck to the rest of you on this the first weigh-in. Don't get discouraged.....sometimes you can lose a part of a pound and the scale won't even register it! It's a loss, nonetheless. :0

What a wonderful thread. We are able to lose with the encouragement of our sistahs I like that. I have been yo yo dieting for years and my weight loss has suffered. I would like to loose about 50-60 lbs total. I have recently tried a mostly vegetarian diet, but found I have to have meat of some kind. I guess I am a real carnivore LOL. I was just too hungry. Anyway, I am trying to get a good balance of meats and veggies. This is new for me. It's going pretty well right now. I'm not counting calories, but have cut out processed, junk food and sugar, as best as I can. I think this is going to work. I'm thinking more along the lines of creating a new way of eating as opposed to dieting (UGH). This way if it works I'll keep doing it. I have always found that once the desired weight has been obtained, I would go off the diet and would ultimately gain back the weight. Thats the reason I'm looking for a new way of eating.

Good luck to everyone.

Linda, you are absolutely right. Over the years I, too, have lost an enormous amout of weight only to gain it all right back. I'm happy with the weight loss program I'm on in that I will have continued counseling for the next 12 weeks while I learn to maintain/add more calories back. Starting Tuesday I will only weigh in once a week, but if I feel I'm starting to go back to old ways I can stop in at any time and get help to get myself back on track. I will also still keep a food journal, which is a pain, but visually seeing the amounts of food I eat a day is very helpful.
Today I bought plane tickets to visit my son and his family in the Sacramento, CA area over Spring Break next month. They have a swimming pool and it might be nice enough to use it so I thought I'd try on some of my suits. It sure lifted my spirits to be able to pull them right up and not have to struggle to get all my bum/boobs tucked in!
I've also culled allot of my old summer clothes and my DIL, GD and I are going to shop for me a new wardrobe. A few tops, some Burmuda length shorts, bright colored sandals and perhaps a new purse!
