Home Improvement

One of the perks of Boondocking is I get more done. No electronic distractions. I took up the old, dark, stinking carpet (thanks to Shona who peed all over it when she was ill) Took out a hundred big staples that fastened it to the floor. Disinfected the floor underneath. This is before.

I bought an indoor/outdoor mat at Lowe's and used the olf carpet as a pattern to cut it to size.

Oh Wow!!! That really looks nice. And I see that couch potato/bed hog dog too. hehehehe

For all the RV's I've looked at? I have only found one that I liked the interior of. 99% of the RV interior suck!!! Color, pattern, you name it? It's nasty. Big splotchy designs and blah colors. sheesh There's a whole lot more color to life than flat tan, beige, brown and mauve.

Give me bright red, blue, green, silver, black anything but blah. One of the nicest ones I have see was a toy hauler. It was done up in black, red and chrome. WooooHoooo

Well done! Great idea to get indoor/outdoor. Did you staple it to the floor? If not I guess you can just take it outside and hose it off once in awhile when it needs it?

Nice job Sparkle! And I agree with Echo about the interior of most RVs, so boring, I can't wait to get one and start sewing curtains and cushions. The tack room in my horse trailer had cute horsey curtains and the foam bed was covered with a horseshoe pattern fabric. The gal who brought it was funny, she asked, don't you want to keep the curtains? :D

What a nice difference it makes......About ten years ago the faucet on the kitchen sink finally bite the dust...as I was on my way to Lowes to pick up a replacement my DH says, you know as long as you are getting new faucets you might as well look at replacing the sink. I had never really looked at the replacing either before so I hadn't realized how reasonable the parts were. You can tell I didn't pick up the high, high end stuff to replace it with...but in my heart I kicked myself for not thinking of breaking the faucet several years before - that new sink sure was a step up :) Good job puppy dog :)

Looks really good. I took out my carpet and had vinyl flooring put in. No trying to vacuum dog hair from carpet.

Looks great, Sparkle---I love the colors and pattern.

Am thinking of what I can do to my dinette area to make it more 'computer friendly.' Once in a great while, if I run into company, we do use the dinette, mainly in the rain, for playing cards or other games. The furnace is under one of the built-in benches, so that will have to stay, no matter what. But the other bench and removable table.....gotta think about that. I don't think I need that sleeping space for anything. I have a jacknife sofa that I sleep on, a double bed in the corner back, and a fold-down single bunk over that bed. Hmmmmm......brain dead on Friday evening. Will have to tackle this tomorrow!!!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Love the new carpet. Just one question. In pictures #1 I see a register in the floor. In pic #2 it's covered with the new carpet. Will that be a problem?

Very observant, Almost. I'm going to try the heat on, when I need it and see if it comes through the thin carpeting. If not then I'll cut out the section. I'm hoping I don't need to as I think it looks better without it. Bogie doesn't like it, it's not soft enough for sleeping. I bought a runner for the kitchen from Walmart. Its the reverse of the colors. Green background and fawn leaves. If I can find a matching rug, I may buy that. Yeesh, the things I do for that dog!
Karen, there was vinyl under the old carpet, with a million staple holes, but Bogie does the splits on vinyl, so I had to put something down.

The new carpet looks terrific. You are so ambitious. You put me to shame. Now if you should need to do some home remodeling and are in the vicinity of Indiana, look me up. I have a long list of projects I'd let you do.  Cheryl
