Stormy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Stormy Wednesday

Postby dayspring39 » Wed Jun 04, 2014 4:55 am

Good Morning everyone. Storms out this morning. I got home from my daughters yesterday. The cataract surgery was easy but I kept tensing up and he had to continually say relax your shoulders or jaw. No pain just bright light. The doctor was extra busy he had 5 patients before me and I do not know how many afterwards. Recovery is fine just some scratchy like an eye lash is in there. Have three kinds of drops and also need to use tears as my eyes are so dry. That will continue forever. When I have the other eye done in two weeks my daughter will come over here. It was a pain to take everything including Shadow over there.
Doctor visit went fine yesterday. With only one eye done I am clear to drive in the state of Illinois. You only need one eye here it seems. I do not have to wear glasses for far vision just as needed for close.
We went to the store for a few veggies and fruit and bread. They had very nice looking corn. small ears. I got 5. Had two for dinner last night with some fruit. oh it was so good.
Have been thinking of you Irmi what a daunting task it will be taking care of your mom and dads home and personal belongings. I remember after my mom passed it was really comforting to go through the things. My brother had put things in groups. There were 4 of us and we started each taking a turn choosing what we wanted. It was done in such an orderly fashion that we each got many memories forever. That was the last time I had good contact with my two brothers. They are as different as I am.
Ava your new tools will last you a long time. Nice to hear you are getting ready to go camping Sue. There have been so many things posted I was glad to read them all.
I have fresh fruit and coffee or tea or hot chocolate to help everyone start their day...

Me and My Shadow are glad to be back! (Sorry to say the drama began again Sunday. One of my twins left an accusing hurtful message on my phone. the other one has been texting Margie. Guess it will never end. I simply am ignoring things.)
Kathleen or Kathy

Use today wisely it's all you have; yesterday is a memory; tomorrow a dream... KLW[/b][/color]

Good morning, glad the eye surgery went well. I love how these doctors tell you to relax, well, maybe if you weren't poking around I could relax. They need to sit in the chair occasionally to remember how that feels.

Good night at the shelter, a few new volunteers showed up, hopefully they stay around. More volunteers means the job is done faster and / or more time can be spent with the dogs in training and just loving on them. When I am finished my studies, I am looking to gather some volunteers to help train. They used to take them to a class, but I don't know what stopped it. Anyway, it would be good practice for me in leading a class and the dogs will get the training they need to be family members.

Sixteen more days and Rosie will be on the road for another camping excursion. Gotta get started on my list, coffee, wine, etc . . . . make sure I don't forget anything and grey goes in toilet, no washing dishes in the wash house and definitely not outside the camper. I seen one person doing that the first time, but that was on the southside of the grounds, northside is far better. More space between campers and better drainage in case it rains.

As for rain, I believe our rainy days have finally stopped, now the heat warnings start but the ground needs some drying. Hoping Sandi is doing okay, storms are bad enough, but scary when you are in something mobile.

Dayspring, glad your family was able to split things up peacefully. When my Grandma passed, I was so upset because there were things that I have given her and an Aunt went through her house with two of her daughters-in-law and wiped out anything they wanted. They never went to visit with my Grandma and when I asked about certain things, they knew nothing about them. They should have waited til I was able to be there but they did this while I was at work and I didn't have a key, only that one Aunt did.

Need to get moving, safe travels to all, especially our members dealing with storms.

Kathleen - Glad to hear your surgery went so well. Yes, you can drive in IL with only 1 good eye. My Dad is legally blind in his left eye from metal shaving he got when he was a kid. To this day he still has a restriction on his license that he has to have a left / outside mirror. Drives him mad because all cars come with them now, but you know the DMV... Sorry to hear the drama started again. Did you talk to the counselor at all? But obviously you were busy with the eye surgery.

Storms that his Catherine & Sandi last night were a mild rain starting at 4:30 am today. Didn't even get up to shut the bedroom windows.

Have a good day everyone and if you're on the road, stay safe.

Good Morning all,

Kathleen, nice to see you start coffee this morning. Glad your eye surgery went well. Been there done that twice, but these days they must do it differently, as I was put under when they did mine as well as numb my eye. Just under long enough for him to numb my eye so I didn't feel it. But the last one they did, the anesthetic was wearing off before he was completely finished with his stitches and I just laid there, gritting my teeth, but didn't move. He apologized for that. Said the cataract took longer to remove than he anticipated. He was a good doctor and now retired. Miss having him still in practice.

Bonnie, have fun on your next camping trip. I too am getting ready to roll in a week and a half and next week will be busy with the last minute stuff. Packing a case of bug repellant along on this trip I think. The mosquitos have been horrible this spring and from what I have heard, bugs are bad up there as well. Maybe have to give Sassy a bath in the stuff. She goes to groomer tomorrow and have to remember to ask if she has a scentless shampoo so mosquitos won't target her.

Cleaning trailer and putting stuff back in, is on agenda here for today. Did do a couple of things yesterday in that I bought a couple of nice clear plastic tubs and put all my water related stuff (hoses, pressure regulators etc) in one box and all the electrical stuff(extra power cords, adapters etc) in another. Now they are stored in the pass through storage and easily found when I need them. Also finished painting my rolling hitch carrier and put the first coat of paint on the hitch bar itself since it was a used one and a bit of rust on it. Will do second and final one today. Need to go through tool box and see what's in there plus add a few small items that I bought. Mostly spare parts in case I lose something. Never hurts to carry extra hitch pins, screws, and other misc. stuff like that. Found out that extra length of spare sewer hose won't fit into my bumper carrier, so will keep it in it's box in storage area. It's only if I need more hose sometime. So things are getting organized slow but sure.

See some nasty weather moving through the central areas again. Guess those in the path of the system are going to get a little wet. See some areas got hit pretty hard though. Sunshine on the agenda for here. We had out downpours Monday evening.

Have a wonderful day out there. Keep dry and travel safe.

Good morning all!

Yep, wet morning here and predicted to stay that way most of the day. Molly and I went to the vet's for her recheck appt. She is much improved so he suggested just upping her cortisone and taking a wait and see approach. Poor pup thinks every time she goes there that she's gonna get a shot but not today! She got a pat on the head instead.

Laundry and picking up around the house today. Friends have invited us over for smoked pork roasts they are making so later I will go to the store for a dessert to bring.

Kathleen I'm so glad the eye surgery went well! I just hate it when they tell you "relax". Like you can under those circumstances.

Donna, I'll have to have a peek at your blog but I sure hope things are ok with you. Sounds kind of ominous...

Bonnie, sounds like you're really enjoying being at the shelter. I don't think I could do that without bringing all the dogs home with me-then my DH would be really mad! He thinks 3 dogs are too much now. Just wait til he finds out I'm looking for No. 4.....LOL

Sue and Bonnie have yourselves a great time on your trips! I am planning on heading out last weekend of the month, probably staying close to home again.

I was thinking of Catherine and Sandi last night about whether or not the storms went through their area. Hope Sandi made it to Catherine's house and both are ok.

Gotta run-laundry's done! Everyone take care,
Kathy

Good morning all. Kathleen, glad your first surgery is over for you and sounds like the recovery is going well. I'm sure glad they put me out when I had mine done! They said they would explain each step to me and unlike DH I told them I didn't want to hear it! I pretty much knew what was going to happen from conversations and reading but wasn't interested in hearing it while they were doing it! So it worked out just fine.

We had a couple of storms roll through here last evening! I knew they were coming by the way my one dog starts acting. He usually starts shaking and trying to get as close to me as he can. Usually he starts this a bit before the storm actually hits.

Donna, you sure didn't need trouble so close to home! But sounds like you have it under control.

Well, need to get moving and get some stuff done around here. I have a bunch of stuff to take to Goodwill today. Started out putting the ac unit in my bedroom window the other day and ended up cleaning out the linen closet. My sister posted a piece from Utube awhile back about "bunny trails" and that was my day! Start one thing and then on to another non related thing and so on! Seems that's just how some days go! Be safe, everyone.

Nice sunny day today and mid 70's. Perfect!

Slept good last night and taking it easy this morning before heading to work this afternoon. Will get carpet shampood at old apt tomorrow and have a gal coming on Monday to help do the final cleaning and then will be done with it!! Then can concentrate on getting unpacked here and start getting ready for my camping trip the following week. (Soos, I am planning to go to Ely to see the North American Bear Center where Lily and Hope's researchers are located!)

Kathleen, maybe you should get a new unlisted phone number.

Hope those of you in Kansas area are safe and sound today! Looks like some nasty stuff went thru there overnight!

Have a great day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I'd love to see a picture of your hitch carrier. That is the biggest struggle for me, as that thing weighs a TON, and it would be nice to have something to help with schlepping it around.

Thanks!

good morning :D
got the electric plug fixed, it was just the circuit breaker not turned on  I didn't know it was there
won't be long now and I can get the deck finished, next project will be the shade cloth for the south side windows.
That will keep it cooler in here. We do ok with the heat until about 4:30, then for about an hour the a/c can't keep up.
Sunset is the hottest time of the day here. I really enjoy reading how cool Beth is having it up there where she is. Makes
me feel cooler ;) guess its time I go looking at snow pictures :D
Breakfast was a cinnamon raisin bagel and of course coffee...can't live without my coffee.
Time for my old time tv shows, ya'll have a great day and be safe.

I'm glad to hear that the cataract surgery is easy. I watched my mother-in-law and my mother's surgery on TV in the waiting room and I probably shouldn't have. My doctor asks me every year if I'm ready to do it yet. I use to tell him that I wasn't 70 yet so will have to find a new excuse. I'll tell him I just got new glasses. Any excuse is better than none. I can't relax when I go to the dentist. I'm sure my finger prints are deeply imbedded in the chair arm.

When an Aunt that I was very close to passed my mother and I were offered what everyone else didn't want. Most of her things went to a cousin and he has died so my aunt's things are with his widow. I'm sure my aunts things have no sentimental value to her. I have 2 boys that could care less about family things. When my dad's sister passed a women that had been taking her to church tried to move in and take her things. My dad had to call the law because she was living in their mother's house and the things in there belonged to the family and had never been divided up. That woman had a history of moving in on elderly people and getting them to make a will naming her as beneficiary. She's lucky my dad didn't shoot her. The woman sold some kind of vitamins and there must have been several thousand dollars worth of vitamins in the house. All of my aunts money was going to this woman.

Bonnie, I'm glad you are able to volunteer at a shelter. I thought about it but the last 2 cats I took in almost caused a divorce. lol I have a friend that tried to volunteer and ended up with 2 more cats.

A few women I know are camping the weekend of the 21st at Palmetto Island State Park near me. I hope I'm through messing with the refrigerator replacement by then.

Kathleen, so good to see you open the MC today. Thrilled your surgery went so well.
Had to laugh at your relax comment. Many years ago (in the 60s) I was in a bad car wreck and took a dive thru the windshield. Took 13 operations over a 3 year period to complete the reconstructive surgery. To my horror when they do that on your face, you have to be awake. They used a local which got the pain down to something like sticking your head in a bee hive. Before he started the sugary each time, he would remind me he needed muscle tension to get things right but that I shouldn't try to talk. No problem, no way could I relax, especially if opened eyes with all those mirrors above the operating table.
My niece is holding her own and has not had to miss a chemo treatment lately; tho pretty weak and frail her attitude also seems better past couple of weeks. .
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!

I look at it this way, if you can't have, then help. The place I volunteer at is no kill, all volunteers, with the exception of the ferals, pretty much everyone goes for three walks a day, that's more than mine get. While they are out, their kennels are cleaned, clean towels, sheets or blankets are put down on their cots, which the exception of Mr billy goat, Reno, that had to get a blankets removed from his belly. Good news for today, four are leaving for their Furever home tonight :) As for me bringing one home, I got in enough trouble when I fostered a mom and nine pups for four weeks.

Martha, just FYI, they have cats too and they do adopt to people that live in other states, so when did you say you were coming camping in the bayou?

Bluepinecone, your niece's outlook is what will get her through chemo, keep with the positive thoughts.

Okay dinner is ready, red beans, rice and pork chop and then it's study, study, study.
