Shoot, sometimes I get lost just on purpose to see what we can find! Melissa, whenever I plan a trip from now on, I'm calling you first! You've seen a lot of good spots to visit, I'll bet!
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

I don't do interstates only under certain circumstances, time to travel being main one, but Melissa, I do agree that I-70 from Utah through Vail is beautiful country. I will do that again someday. Its been several years but still can picture some of that in my mind, too pretty to ever forget , I think.

Sometimes getting lost or making the wrong turn, ends up being a great find. Another interesting way to find real treasures is to find those square red places on a map and check them out, things you would never dream of are found that way.

Thought I would mention here that I am selling my Advance Element kayak. (The post is over on the Trading Post thread.) I can bring it to the Kansas GTG if anyone is interested in trying it out before they decide.

I also wanted to ask Catherine if the water is good for kayaking in general at the campground. I am willing to bring my extra kayak if folks are interested in playing around on the water. If not much interest we can just share.

I'm not sure what is considered 'good' for kayaking, but many of 'our' sites are right on the water & when I've been there, the water seems calm. Actually that's what I really like about going here is listening to the water gently lapping at the shore. It isn't a really large lake but I think it'd be nice to get out on the water & paddle around a bit. :D I'd be game for gving it a go.

Tina, I'm asking you to MAKE me get into a kayak and try it out. I would have to have a blow up one altho have no clue where I'd put one in/on my Roadtrek. No alligators, tho. I'm a coward at heart.

I'm pretty positive that there aren't any alligators in Council Grove lake.

Karen, I carried my inflatable kayak in my Roadtrek. They fold up pretty small. It fit in the back under the bed.

It is a deal Karen. I usually bring an extra life jacket and paddle anyway. Small lakes have distinct advantages. You can get out on the water and explore but don't have to paddle for miles and miles...... I am a fan of Beth's sometime style....take a book, paddle out, lean back and read......But then just being out on the water lifts my spirit. :)

:) Yep, I'm a lazy kayaker :) And just because being on the water lifts my spirit, too!

Makes me wonder just how old the feller was. Don't they continue to grow there entire life?

Aw, that's just a baby. This one was caught 7 years ago in East Texas & was just declared the world's largest American Alligator.
