Friday, day 5 of being home

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Fri May 23, 2014 7:01 am

Good Morning everyone,

How's everybody today? Fine here. Had a busy day yesterday doing yard work. Took out three 5 foot Dwarf Alberta Spruce and two other bushes from side of house. Lots of root cutting and digging involved, but done, spread some mulch around trees out front and loosened up soil in beds across front of house. So front yard is done and now just needs routine maintenance from here on out. Today will do the back, not lot needing done there. Then can turn attention to garage and TT. Play time for rest of summer.

Kathleen, you asked me how long I was going to be gone this summer. Probably just on short trips for the most part. Trip to SD is being held up with friend having appts. inmid June and trip planned for Scotland in Sept. Plus I'm not sure if I want to take Sassy out that far at her age, although she's doing good right now. So we are playing it by ear. I do however plan some trips into MI's Upper Peninsula, one of which I hope to do next month.

By the way, I have three pieces of foam left over from my trailer project that I plan to sell. Will post it in the Trading Post section if anybody's interested.

Liz, been enjoying your pictures from your trip. Still haven't gotten a new camera yet, but am leaning toward the one you have. The newer model does have a 100x zoom but they say the viewfinder takes a few seconds to turn itself on when you first turn it on and that can cause split second picture loss. Or so the exerts say  Still studying it.

Appt. in town for me this morning and some TT material shopping to do afterwards. Then home to yard. Fun getting in and out of my road with the construction here. They have traffic down to one lane but are stopping it about a mile in either direction up the road, so never know which way it's coming from when you pull out here. I usually just sit and wait till I see some coming. Will be end of June before it's done I guess. But otherwise not too bad.

Time to run along here. So want to wish you all a wonderful Memorial Day weekend out there. Any weekend trips planned for anybody?

Friday, day 5 of being home

Postby carolb » Fri May 23, 2014 7:03 am

G'morning all! :)

Sorry I have been absent since returning home! I've kept up a bit with reading, but the weather has been perfect for yard work, so I've not taken the time to write

You MC friends are the best! Thanks for all the support & kudos whilst I was on my travels :D Never alone on the road when I have y'all behind me :P Poor planning, & I missed Barbie & Pat  :( But I'm blessed to know I was welcome! So happy I caught Liz, Birdie, Beth & Sue on my return trip!

Had some rain last night, & it's cloudy/rainy this a.m. THANK GOODNESS  Home 5 days, & I've mowed twice! Then all the edging, reviving my flower gardens, tilling (thanks to bro) so we can plant maters! Only putting in about 10 mater plants this year--still have quite a supply of canned from the past two years. Also, rearranging the house to "condense" my living space--after 6 mo in my 17ft Trek, just don't need to use all this space!

So for this rainy day, I have a needed break from the yard work. Will catch up on ALL emails I've neglected, do a bit in the house, & then just REST!!!

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Mornin' Sue, Carol & all that follow ~~~been a busy vacation week. Got the majority of spring cleaning done last weekend. Then day trips everyday. Chicago Botanic Garden on Monday, Severson Dells & Anderson Japanese Garden on Tuesday up towards Rockford, Wednesday with Kathleen - lots of talking, met her daughter Margi, saw her RV and of course Shadow - what a little cutie - was a great day! Thursday ran to 2 state parks - White Pines Forest - will have to tell Mom there are cabins for rent there, and then to Mississippi Palisades. Trying to figure out what direction to head today.

Can't wait for retirement - one day trips are OK, but want to spend more time exploring. At least with day trips, I'm getting an idea of what areas I may want to return to in Illinois whenever I get a TT or whatever.

Sue - glad to hear Sassy is doing better, but hope she eats more. Nice job on the seat cushions. Couch looks very comfy. Great idea!

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend, but maybe (?) stay off the roads with all of the crazies on them this weekend. Stay safe.

Good morning Sue, Carolb, Cheryl, Ava & everyone!

Sue, it amazes me all the things you do in and around the house by yourself. It sounds like you are almost caught up and can start concentrating on your tt.

Carolb, I know what you mean about getting caught up in the house after coming home from a long trip. We've been home over a week and we still aren't caught up.

Cheryl, it sounds like you're having a great time doing your day trips. I'm so glad you got to meet Kathleen. She's a wonderful person, isn't she?

Ava, congratulations on the last day of work in the school year!

It started off a little cool in MD this morning and we'll get into the mid 70's. It looks like the majority of the holiday weekend should have good weather. We're spending the weekend home and will do something after the Ocean City traffic has gone home. Carolb and I got caught in a backup on our way home from showing her the church I go to and that was nothing compared to what the traffic will be this weekend. So we'll spend time cutting the grass and washing vehicles and will end the day with a tasty meal, an Oven Stuffer Roaster, salad, potatoes and Fordhook limas. The motorhome is back at the mechanics shop with hopes of getting the last three items checked off on the inspection list and hopefully next week we can get it registered in the state. Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning to all-----overcast, damp, and very cool here today. I do miss that good old sunshine. Not sure what's on the schedule for today, but I see the porch light is on at the house, meaning the two Os and their mother are up and about, so guess I'll wend my way up there with porta potty in hand to dump and begin anew. Hope the littlest O shows less yellow from jaundice today, or else he will be headed to the doc for a blood test and hopeful remedy. Happy Friday to all!

Beautiful day here! Sunny and upper 70's for later on. Too bad I have to work all day. Really looking forward to getting moved into my new place, getting Chelsea back and relaxing a bit before heading up north on my camping trip. Still have to try out my new kayak! That is at my dad's until I get moved next week. The lake is so high that they have a minimum wake restriction on the whole lake (5 mph only), so the boat waves don't erode the shorelines. People won't be happy about that for the holiday weekend, but it is necessary.

Hope you all have a safe and happy day! :D

Good morning all. Been awhile since I've posted but been trying to keep up with reading what everyone is doing. Sounds like lots going on with everyone! I've been trying to get some yardwork done between the rain storms and keep up with housework too. I think rhe trees have finished dropping the yellow "stuff" all over everything. I've taken bags of it to the dump! My driveway was covered and as soon as I swept it up there would be more! Yuck!

Last night I was all cozy in bed reading with the boys snoozing beside me when a bat swooped into the bedroom! So I spent awhile tracking it down...downstairs...closed the door to the room and used a broom to finally knock it down. I threw a towel over it and released it outside. I need to do what a neighbor said they do and get a tennis racket! In the 14 years we've lived here it's about the third time this has happened! I like bats and what they do but not in my house!! So it was awhile before I finally settled down again! The dogs were locked in the bedroom so missed all the fun but I'm sure they would have been willing to join in.

I've just about got the new rig fixed up, just tring to decide what blankets to load in the space I have left and getting the camera I ordered installed. I met with a friend of my dentist the other night and he's going to install it for me so I won't have to travel anywhere to get it done! Can't ask for better than that! Just need to finish cleaning up the RT and putting it on a lot here in town for consignmnet and getting it sold. Once this rain stops for a few days I hope to get out and take a short trip to get used to my new one before I take off on a longer trip. Seems like there is always something else coming up that needs done before I can go. Guess I just need to say the heck with it all and just do it!

So with that I need to get busy but hope everyone has a great week end and if you are on the road, be safe.

Just noticed that we have 996 members. Just 4 more to go before reaching 1000! Beth, is there a prize for being the 1000th member?!
Great group here and growing quickly!

We may have hit 1000 before - but because we prune out members who we approve but never post, etc, occasionally - our numbers sometimes go up - sometimes down. We probably need to do a major pruning - of members who haven't posted in over a year, or some such, soon.

So sorry to hear of the fires in Oak Creek Canyon, it is a beautiful area. I am still on the couch and taking pain pills....what a bummer...I do not see my doc until June 6th. No camping for me for awhile. Lyn

DONE! Whew, removed everyone from previous years that joined, but never posted. Now we're at 653 and counting. :D
