Well, Karen, you certainly earned that wine - hope you had the second glass. I usually prefer to have reservations because I'm definitely not a risk taker, and I tend to over plan a trip. There will always be times where the planned stop isn't right, or we can't find a campground, etc. That's what makes this lifestyle interesting. They rarely put Walmarts in these off the beaten path areas. On the other hand, we usually manage.

Hope the rest of the trip is smoother.

I tried several places that looked like truck stops today on my way to Salt Lake City and none had the Next Exit book. Any suggestions on a specific chain of truck stops that might have it? I wish I had known about it before I left since I could have gotten it from Amazon. I hope someone might have an idea on a good place to possibly find it.

I've seen it at Camping World and at other RV dealerships.

The major truck stops like Pilot, Flying J, TA, Loves and Sap Bros. should have it. The little mom and pops would probably not carry it. I did find it on the Camping World website.

There's also an app for iPhone/iPad.

Like Karen. I didn't find The Next Exit useful either. I also have discovered if I make reservations and then don't like a place. I feel stuck there. After one crummy cg my first season out that I would have lost money if I hadn't stayed at least my first night, I decided taking chances was better.

Yeah Beth, I agree. When I started I used to make all my reservations ahead but I found that often I either wanted to stop before coming to the RV park or I made good time and wanted to keep driving a little further. Between the apps on my phone and my GPS I can usually find something near where I want to stop. I've found many unadvertised RV parks in small towns by stopping at gas station or store and asking the locals. I've found some really nice little mom and pop places that way and I prefer a small park to those big ones that pack you in like sardines.

If you don't find one Sandi, you can have mine; seems to be more
useful if one had a navigator.

Thanks Diana. I'm going to keep looking at each stop I make. Hopefully I'll find one.
