Vacuums - Pros/Cons

Postby FancyFree » Fri May 16, 2014 10:09 am

Good Morning Ladies,

Have moved from the MH which had a central vac to a 5r which does not. So, will be shopping this weekend for a vacuum. Anyone got any pros/cons to share about the wide array of vacuums on the store shelves? Looking for something that will suck up cat hair and works good on carpet, vinyl, and laminate.
Thanks for your help.

Not much help here; I use a small handheld vac in my Roadtrek and throw rugs I can shake out and wash. In my big RV I removed all the carpet and just used a broom.

Fancy, I got the Versa Clean Dirt Devil, which has the long handle to use standing up or the wand can come off to use as a hand held. It was inexpensive and takes very little storage space. So far, so good.

I have one I'm very happy with. Does great on carpet and hard floor. Also works as a hand-held vacuum. Only problem is it's in my rig in storage and I can't remember the brand. I'm leaving on my first extended trip tomorrow so will check to see what kind it is and let you know. Wasn't expensive and got it at Walmart.

For removing pet hair/fur get a vacuum that is designed to pick the hair/fur up. Eventually animal fur/hair will clog a normal vac or it just does not clean well. I use a Bissell 3 in 1 in the camper, however in the house I bought a rubber brush http://www.simplygoodstuff.com/rubber_brush.htmto clean pet fur off the steps. If your camper is small you might consider one of these, http://www.simplygoodstuff.com/outdoor_broom.html

Sorry I took so long coming back with the name of the one I have. It's a Eureka Quick-Up.

I purchased a Shark Rocket Ultra LIght a couple of months ago. Needed something versatile that could do bare floors and carpet! It is lightweight, comes apart easily for storage and was about $170.00 at Macy's online. So now there are 2 things I am in "love" with, my new Cooper tires for my car and my Shark vacuum cleaner. Neither have failed me yet (lol)!

I forgot my vacuum one year and went to awl mart and got one with a small hose and a canister... it worrked very good I had noting to clean with s=but this one os good.
if my words are all mixed up consider the source... early is hard for me aster not driving school bus for over 5years... so now it is occasion for me to get up at 5. so 9:30 and ready for bed here at 10
It was cheaper for me to buy the little one as apposed to sending me one of mine. I have 3 vacuums now.

I am not making much sense no so will close

Me and My Shadow think you will get when you need

Thanks ladies. I have seen the brands that you mentioned on the shelf. All the vacuums sound good in the descriptions on the boxes and some of them have pictures of pets. There is a huge range in prices and I know you get what you pay for but "most expensive" doesn't always equal "best." Weight is definitely an issue so maybe I will find something in the mid-weight mid-price range that will work. Must remember it is only a vacuum - not a life altering decision here.
