any beer drinkers out there? beer drinker and home brewer here!

looking forward to the grand finale of the week, Beer Festival, Downtown Oklahoma City. We've gone every year and this thing just keeps getting larger and larger. 200+ beers to taste, so many beers so little time!

enjoy trying new brews. especially the heavier beers. so many that I like to taste but can't imagine drinking more than one so the festival is a great place to try something new.

cheers, EM

My sister in law and father in law live just north of OKC in Guthrie, I will have to put this festival on my list as a time of year to visit. Have you been to the Guthrie Music Festival in the fall?

I tried brewing my own beer back in 92'. These days I much prefer finding a micro brewery and a night of sampling.

did some brewing back when I was married, it was a whole lot of fun but sure didn't enjoy all the work sterilizing those beer bottles. Guess the funnest part was sitting on the kitchen floor filling the bottles with a gravity feed from the counter,
I was soaked and beer was everywhere  and I'm not even a beer drinker, but ya know the story...the things we used to
do to keep hubby happy.

I'm a beer drinker! Love the stuff. Have never made it tho. I don't care for the craft beers....like the Mexican beers, both dark and lite. What is the Guthrie Music Festival? I will be in the area this fall to visit my nephew. lyn

i haven't been to the Guthrie festival. what time of year is it held?

we bottled the first 2 batches we brewed and then built a kegerator, 3 taps. can't beat just stepping into the garage and pulling your own beer! keep thinking about installing a tap on the RV. now that would be fun!

we also go to the telluride(CO) blues and brews festival each year. can't beat a day of beer tasting and visiting with friends.

love going to the festivals and tasting until I find a couple of new beers to buy. one of these days we're going to have to try and brew a clone of one that we like.

Here is a link to all the celebrations in Guthrie
http://guthrieok.com/FESTIVAL.html
The music festival is first weekend in Oct. my sister in law who lives on the edge of Guthrie always works at the festival. She also participates in the Christmas event wearing vintage costume replicas.
Who knows we might make it there for the music this year.

My choice of poison is beer. But like Lyn I really don't care for the craft beers, nor do I like the dark beers. Guess the Anheuser-Busch products are my favorites. I like those Clydesdales so I'd better help feed them!

well the festival did not disappoint! weather was great, mid 70's with a breeze. the last couple of years we've been we just about melted.

found some new beers to try and find for purchase. tried the rouge voodoo maple something or other, you need to like maple for this. it was good but can't imagine drinking an entire 12oz of it. that's the case with so many of the stouts and porters, I like the taste but can't imagine sitting out by the pool and drinking them all day.

for you lighter beer fans, sierra Nevada summerfest was really nice. that one I'd be willing to purchase a few of.

just wanted to report back. I'm still amazed how much this festival has grown in 4 short years.

cheers - EM
