Thistle's new harness

Postby Liz » Sun May 11, 2014 12:18 pm

Thistle is modeling his new padded harness. His old one was causing an abrasion on his belly. He only wears this one for walks, and I take it off when we come inside. He now wears a collar with his tags...in case he decides to run out the door, lol. Not that he has ever done that...

I don't think he cares what he is styling as long as he gets to go for the hike. :)

Ever since Baxter slipped out of his collar I use a harness for walks. We call it his girdle and when it gets hard to fasten the velcro, I put him on a diet. He's not thrilled with it and completely freezes when I first put it on him.

Thistle, it looks great and got to be comfortable with the padding. Is Thistle microchipped? Collars can come off too easy and its good to have that backup if the unmentionable ever happens.

In addition to their rabies tags with my vets number I bought a couple of those "make them yourselves" tags for each dog. Has their name and my cell phone number. Baxter is chipped but Sophie is not. Sophie would have to unvelcro herself from me to get lost however Baxter is another story. He takes off on adventures and goes deaf and dumb and doesn't even hear me calling him.

Thistle is microchipped and has a tag with his name and my cell # as well as his rabies tag. Also a tag with his microchip #. He sounds a lot like Baxter. If he gets loose it's off to the races and I don't exist in his mind for awhile.

You could have your vet scan Shadow and that would give you his number and I believe the company too. If not, you can contact HomeAgain and have Shadow registered with them.

When Alexis was chipped after Hurricane Katrina, it was run through one of the shelters, they had me give them all my info, but when I went to the website, they had no info on her. Why they had me give them all her info, I have no idea, but it bothered me because they didn't even tell me that I had to go on line to register her.
