Rainy Friday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Friday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Fri May 09, 2014 7:04 am

Good Morning all,

Bit on the rainy side here this morning, supposed to have scattered storms and showers today, but temps are mild. In the 60-70's. Yesterday was the first day this year that I was finally able to open my windows and let the nice fresh air in. Was thinking as I typed the heading for this post, how many of our MC headings are weather related each day.

Looks like a bit of house cleaning on the agenda this morning. Have my stove burner bibs soaking in th sink right now. Will dust and vacuum and be done with that and give my kitchen a good cleaning again. When one is debating whether or not to list one's house, one wants to keep things looking clean.

Irmi, the vet couldn't really find anything wrong with Sassy yesterday. We already know she has Osteoarthritis and also her teeth have some calcification on them, but we can't do anything about that due to her age. Everything else checked out okay yesterday, so we are thinking it's a pain issue. He put her on Rymadal for 5 days. She's also on Proin which is for urinary leak control, not that she has major issue with that, just minor, but the two are really not supposed to be given together for long periods. Hence the 5 days only. If she still is not eating by Monday morning then I have to take her back in and he is going to do some blood work. He's pretty sure the liver is under control though. At her age, I wondered if we are running out of options but he said there are still some things we can do yet. Asked about a shot and he said they don't last much longer than the meds do so that won't solve anything either. So we shall see what happens. Eye cataracts aren't getting any worse, so that's good and she still is alert and likes her daily walks, so....

Barbie, hope that storm with the tornado just went around you like the others did. I would have been watching that too.

Lyn, hope you get to feeling better real soon.

Cereal, strawberries, sausage, eggs, bacon, and toast available here this morning, so stop by if you get hungry. Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Sue, Donna, and all from a sunny and warm (65 degrees) Canton, NY.

We had a quick rain shower in the night and might get on and off showers today, so I will open my awning after I get off this computer. Orion and I had a great time yesterday, clearing downed white pine branches (some huge) from the lawn area here. I found a tick burrowed into my belly which I had Mandy remove for me, and we then checked Orion all over and found none. Mandy says the deer ticks are rampant up here this year. I'm not sure if mine came from here or from the Carolinas when I camped there, as he was well ensconced in my skin. The doc has moved the C-section date to Monday now, so the other little boy creature will be here on the 12th now rather than the 13th. Last night Oey and I walked around the ponds here on the property and found pussy-willows, horse-tails, baby leaves on the trees, pine cones, tossed stones into the pond, stomped with his boots in the muddy spots, then went into the house to make towers on the living room floor with tons of blocks. Mommy and Daddy were at the hospital doing the pre-registration thing. I love this grandma thing!

Wish I could be at Wickham with you, Donna, but maybe next year again.

Sue, hope the Rymadol works to help Sassy.

Off I go to do some more yard work after coffee and awning opening. Happy Friday to all!

Happy travels!

Good Morning Everyone, Its sure a sunny day here :D but I'm setting in an A/C house :D Didn't seem to bad when Maggie and I, were out a short time ago though. It is hotter this year at this time of year then should be, so guess we all know what a summer it will be down here, I think maybe everywhere. I shall have A/C and a pool though, the only way to survive here. My DD and grandson, are moving RV for me this evening, to a CG near her (with a pool) then driving up to get me at my sisters, so I can spend Mothers day with at least one of my children, its been ages since that has happened. This day is usually spent alone in N.C. There are really good points to the way things have turned out for me, so I can't gripe, wish maybe but no gripes LOL The only thing I really regret is, my plans to visit my son this summer, I haven't seen him for two years.

Carolb, what great country you are in, I love it up there. Have a good visit with Beth, she's in a fabulous area, hope you can stay long enough to really see some of it

Sue, waited to hear about Sassy, so glad no real problems found.

Soos, I loved reading about your time with your GS. What a fun time for you.

Lyn, I hated to hear your leg situation got worse, sure hoping it will clear up soon. Pain, is not fun, hope meds work for you. I'm taking the one, Gabapentin, for the remains of Shingles, sure is doing a good job for me. Hoping your better soon !!!

Mornings moving on and I'm not moving as fast as it is !! LOL

Hope you all have a great and safe day, whatever your day brings,

CArol :)

We are having a very lite rain but the weather men keep talking about storms coming through. Hope it rains like this all day so it will soak in and not just run off. I need to go to town but knowing me I will mess around until the heavy rain gets here.

One of the cats was looking at something outside so I got up to see what she was looking at. A mother and baby Armadillo were going across the carport. You usually don't see them out in the daytime. They usually have 4 babies so she must have lost 3 of them.

CArol, an RV park with a swimming pool sounds nice but I wouldn't want to have to depend on family to move me around either. I love living in the country but it wouldn't be very convenient if we couldn't drive.

Wednesday afternoon I went to get something out of the RV freezer and everything was fine. The next day when I opened the door there was water in it and the refrigerator was up to 45 degrees. I hope that thing isn't going out. I turned the refrigerator off. I need to finish cleaning it and turn it back on to see what it's going to do. I have a rally to go to next weekend so might be eating caned food. My sister and I were planning on going to the lake for Memorial Day weekend. Can't get it looked at until the end of the month. It's always something.

Good mornin' ladies (barely made it!)

Sue - My Molly was on Rimadyl for 2 1/2 years. Yes, you have to be careful with it because it can affect their liver, but as long as blood test are done every 6 months or so. It might be OK to keep Sassy's inflammation under control.

Soos - glad you are back by you kin and love the "the boy creature" :D

Temps dropping back to normal spring temps (70's) for a bit then back to 60's next week. Yesterday was horrible - like right into summer - close to 90* and humid.

Martha, this is a temporary situation for me. I should be ok, for the time it will be before I can drive again. I have driven myself anywhere and everywhere since I was 16 (legally, we won't talk about ??the other times LOL) and it was really hard for me to get my head around the fact, I CAN NOT do a thing about this situation now, just make the best of it So, I'm ok for the time I have spaced out, lets just hope it doesn't stretch farther LOL !!!

I do think from time to time that I am getting nearer the date, I won't be driving across country anymore and this time here, has made me know how bad a time that is going to be to adjust to. But such is life. I know that I do have many more years that I can travel, and I'm trying hard to not think of this being wasted time I could be on the road, I will enjoy my family this summer, as I will be close to the two youngest grandchildren and we will have a chance to really get to know each other.

I have found after the first shock of any given situation, that its always best to look for the good points. That way you can survive anything with a better attitude and enjoy the time until your through it. A message that I learned years ago, and need to pull out and use it seems more and more often !!!

Not being able to drive later on in life and no family around is my main reason for selling my home. I love the area my home is in, you won't find many prettier places, so this time too, helps me know that I have made the right decision there too.

I hope your frig will be ok, that's not a cheap fix and this time of year is a bad time to be without. I know, been there. So good luck with that !!!

Carolb stopped by the store a bit ago. I sent her back out to Custer State Park and told her to take her time. I'll wait up for her if necessary. She's just zipping through, but we'll find time to chat tonight.
