Saturday at home

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday at home

Postby asirimarco » Sat May 03, 2014 6:38 am

Good morning to all. Having our first Saturday at home in seven months. Sure feels good - We got home Thursday and have only unload a few essentials from the Alfa - doing a little bit every day - or when we think of something we need from there. The house was in good shape. The hot water had been replaced and was working fine, thanks to our friend Tom who is also our house sitter. The leak in the roof quit leaking after the ice melted. It is cool here though I kind of enjoy it especially when I'm trying to get things done.
Bill is going to the doctor today or Monday to get, we hope, the last word on his infection. He wants to get off the antibiotics as they upset his stomach. And I just hope it is all over with.
Today will be spent trying to catch up on paper work, mail and watching soccer and NASCAR. And vacuuming up dead lady bugs - we were invaded this year. Ick.
Glad most of the horrid weather has moved off and hope no one suffered any damage and can enjoy a few days of peace.

Morning Carol and everyone,

Glad you finally made it home safely Carol. Hope Bill gets good news from the doctors. Glad all was well at house other than the ladybugs. I get a few in the house here too from time to time, actually mine are Japanese beetles which look like ladybugs.
Weather cool here too, in fact a bit chilly actually. Damp from rain showers. Been showing or raining all week  Enough already. Tonight and tomorrow morning might be rain/snow showers. No surprise there. It can happen on Mother's Day too.

But I want to get my TT uncovered and start doing some work inside. I think trip west will probably be waiting till later this summer. Too many things getting in the way right now plus weather isn't greatest. See on Weather Channel that June is also highest month for tornadoes yet as well, although WI, MN, SD, WY are pretty well out of that major area. Have to inquire from Pat when good time is go come out to SD. Also want to avoid 4th of July and big crowds.

Trip to Camping World was successful. Actually spent less than I thought. Passed up on gas BBQ grill I had been thinking about. Still like my charcoal one. Maybe will get a small one for traveling though. Did see a couple of things I think I might like in trailer for storage, but need to measure. Those under cabinet Add a Drawers look kind of neat for small stuff that takes up room in other drawers. Anybody use one of those?

Okay, time to get off here and do other things. Have a nice day all. Hope those heading north up the coast have a nice safe trip.

Good morning Carol, Sue & everyone!

Carol, I hope Bill is able to get off the antibiotics and that he can put this behind him. I hope the rest of your spring and summer are uneventful.

Sue, I love browsing through Camping World because they have so many neat things. It'll be so exciting for you preparing for your long trip.

Sarah, so sorry to here about the problems your niece is having and sending lots of prayers your way.

Kathleen, I hope you're recovering from your fall.

It's a little on the cool side this morning in Wilson but it'll warm up to the mid 70's this afternoon. Lori and Ernie pulled out of here about 30 minutes ago. It was so nice getting together with them, had lots of laughs and a couple delicious meals with snacking in between. We plan on staying here another week with hopes the night time temperatures in MD will get out of the 40's and start warming up.

I'm wishing all of you a good Saturday and if you're on the road, please be safe!

Good morning. I’ve been AWOL for a while. It’s been cool, cloudy and very windy around here the past week but it’s supposed to start warming up today. We did receive about a half inch of rain but nothing close to what we need. We’re in a burn ban right now along with most of the surrounding counties. I’ve been feeling a little peaked lately and think I’m having some gallbladder problems. Belching and burping constantly, heartburn and intestinal gas along with other symptoms that are listed. Not in pain but darn uncomfortable at times! I’ve been walking the halls at work a lot to relieve gas pains….not that inmates would probably care if I let one rip! I can be crude...but not quite that crude. Called for a doctor’s appointment yesterday and they’re going to call me back on Monday because my doctor and care team were at a seminar. Feel pretty good today…so far.

Sue, my favorite time to visit the Black Hills is early June or late summer early fall. Not nearly as many tourists. I try to avoid the first couple weeks of August because of the Rally….the traffic is horrendous and almost every place jacks up their prices. It’s beautiful in the fall and many of the towns have fall festivals. The Buffalo Round-Up at Custer State Park is awesome but that is the same weekend as the GTG in Kansas. But of course you can also hit some pretty nasty weather in the fall too. There was a terrible blizzard the beginning of October last year and it was devastating. Many ranchers lost hundreds of cattle. But then again, those blizzards have hit in May too. My son who worked in Custer for nine summers says that the tourist season starts slowing down about the third week in August after schools start in the Midwest. About the only families vacationing at that time are from the East and West coast because most of them start school after Labor Day. I’ve had to travel I90 to the Hills a lot in October for work and the RV traffic is still pretty solid and it’s mostly retired couples.

Tomorrow I get the have Bronc for the afternoon! This will only be the second time that I’ve gotten to take care of him :( I get to see him but Ashley is still pretty selfish with him..especially since she’s gone back to school! ;) She’s such a good mama. Hard to believe that he is already two months old. He will be baptized next weekend. He was supposed to wear Ryan’s baptism outfit, but I think it’s going to be too small for the little porker.

Well my load of jeans is finished and I’d better get them on the line and start washing bedding. Have a great day.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

G'morning all :)

I too have been awol! Catching up, but sure I've missed much. Sarah, prayers for your niece. Bill better? Irmi, Lori & Sultans, glad you had a gtg! And then all of you who suffered/survived the tornado outbreak....

Guess it was a stroke of luck for me to head north, rather than thru the midwest...I'm now in Spokane visiting a HS friend I haven't seen in 46 yrs, after visiting a friend in Boise that I hadn't seen in almost 30 yrs--just a few side trips on my way to Yellowstone...Will continue on to Y'stone on Monday, may take in Glacier on the way...

Beth, glad to hear you arrived at your summer camp. I'll be seeing you in a week or so!

Y'all have a great day, be safe always! 8-)

Good Morning,

Love the good news and extra prayers for those with extra concerns.

Wouldn't it have been fun if Liz and I had run into each other at the Grand Canyon. We were in some of the same areas on Thursday! She would have recognized the California Condor that I saw! I thought it was just another vulture but with white under its wings - oops.

Many enjoy the train ride from Williams to the GC. Not many animals, some hokey onboard entertainment, the usual 'I'm gonna take your photo and want $35', but interesting tales of yesteryear and different landscape. I would never say not to take the train, but it isn't a 'do again' for me. I was glad we hadn't paid extra for a dome car.

We walked and walked along the rim! Such wonderful sites - and a few sore muscles! Just felt good! The days were very warm.

LeRoy left for Wisconsin this morning. I haven't decided whether I will stay another night here or move on - have a couple more hours to decide.

Those of you visiting, enjoy! Everyone have a good day and safe travels!!

It's a beautiful day and sure would like to be at the lake but afraid to get too far from home. I had to bring DH to the emergency room last night. He has had blood in his urine off and on for a while. Last night he had a clot that wasn't passing. He doesn't like his urologist and didn't want to go to the hospital that would know what has been going on with him. Took him to the local emergency room. I have to say I was impressed. It has been remodeled since I was last there and he was taken in right away. Slow night or we beat the car accidents. The clot finally passed while they were fiddle-faddling with tests so we came home. Now he wants to get an appointment with a urologist in Baton Rouge. That's a 2 hour drive for us. Went through that when he had knee surgery. Good doctors and great hospital but a long way to go. Yesterday there was a big accident on the I-10 basin bridge and I'm sure people were stuck on there for hours.

Kathleen, don't feel bad about spilling I seem to wear every meal on my shirt. My sister and I saw some of the big bibs like they use in nursing homes in a Walmart one time. We were laughing about them but I think I should have bought one. :?

I guess I will have to go to Walmart with everyone else today. I forget I should get my shopping done before Saturday.

..
So, Martha, the blood in his urine was from a kidney stone? Or you don't know yet?
Hope the trouble passed with the passing of the dot.
But I need to ask - what's a dot?

Sue, I've purchased two add a drawers for the dinette and one larger one for under my shirt closet. Not installed yet. Liz has the under dinette one and likes it.

I say you want to get to SD in June, the earlier in June the better, before all the schools let out, but after everything is open. July would still be better than August though. As Pat says, it'll be a zoo all of August. Then early September would be good again.

Butting in afternoon... Martha it would be worth the drive to go where he feels comfortable... we need to listen to our instincts... if he has to do over night sometimes they have rooms you can rent...

I got the over the cab walls cleaned with my string mop bleach and dawn... smells good... did the frig also... my kids simply go freaky crazy when the see the black stuff... I say bleach and dawn does the trick and I do not rinse it off so it keeps working...

You all are such busy bees makes me smile...

Me and My Shadow say be careful on the roads please...

It's past noon but stopped in to say hello and catch up. Pat I have similar symptoms, maybe we could go to your doctor together and get a discount price. :) I hope you are better soon and its not your gall bladder. Martha, it seems like getting men to any doctor is not easy. I heard about that wreck, seems like there are a lot of accidents in the same place, can you find a back road?

We are going to an annual Greek dinner at one of the churches tonight, looking forward to especially the desserts!

Take care all on the road.
