Is there any update on Weatherby? Did he have the MRI and any surgery? Been worried about the little guy.

Our usual Vet is out today, but when she called last night she said the Clinic owner/Vet would let me know Weatherby's status this morning. Ronnie prefers the Owner Vet as that's who's been treating his parents dogs for many, many years. I don't like him because he's cut and dry. Our lady Vet would fill me in on little things, like whether Weatherby was hunched up in obvious pain or wagging his little nub of a tail when she talked to him. Anyway, this morning he said that Weatherby was barking when he opened to door this morning, meaning he was doing some better. They gave him one more injection this morning and then will let it taper off to see if that took care of the swelling. He did say that in his experience, when a dog is in as much pain as Weatherby was, that they ended up doing the surgery eventually, but we'd wait and see how he does. He said if the pain is gone, then we probably would be able to pick him up tomorrow, but we decided that we want him to stay another night. I'll talk to our vet tomorrow, but we'd rather him be there an extra day, where he can immediately get help if it comes back. When they gave him the shot last Thursday, he was fine that night, but woke up the next day screaming.

Glad to hear Weatherby's feeling up to barking. Sounds as if things are on the mend. Still sending prayers for a full recovery.

I talked to the Vet this morning, she was debating whether to keep him another day or send him home today. She said he was doing really well other than some diarrhea (probably caused by the injections). She said that he was jumping around and barking in his kennel when somebody or another dog came in, so she was thinking that maybe he would be more calmer at home and less risk of pain returning, but I told her Ronnie and I was worried about bringing him home too soon and have the meds wear off and the pain return. She said that helped her to decide and that she would move him to the quiet room, normally where they kept the cats, with less traffic. So that is where we are today, hopefully he will remain pain free and be able to come home tomorrow.

Vickie that is such good news. Praying that he continues the improvement overnight and comes home with you tomorrow.

Hoping that the meds worked magic and surgery can at least be postponed for a long time.
