Thought I'd better check in. Not too much going on here in Mazatlan. Yep we are still here. Bill is in the hospital again, since Friday -I think - maybe Saturday, days are running together. The surgery went fine and he was doing good when all of a sudden his fever went way up again and he felt like crap. So back to the hospital and the infection had taken hold again. By yesterday he was showing marked improvement - bacteria counts have gone way down. Had a kidney scan yesterday - they are fine and have not been affected by the bacteria. Thank goodness. The area around the prostrate is healing very well. Just the infection in the urine. I know more info then necessary. Doctors are in and out around the clock, checking this and that. They also make sure I'm getting food and rest. So any way this time they will not let him check himself out! Nor will I! They want him to stay for at least two days after all signs of the infection are gone. To make sure it stays gone. Then will give him antibiotics to take on the trip home. He is to go to our family doctor when we get home to get checked again.
About home - IT IS STILL FREAKING SNOWING THERE - well I lie, Mon and Tues it snowed today and for the next few days it is raining. And COLD!
Guess I should enjoy our time here - yesterday it was 86 and today supposed to be 84. I'm getting comfortable with driving the Jeep here and even better at taking the busses here - they are an experience. Some have AC some don't the ones that do cost 10 pesos, the ones without cost 7pesos - some drivers think they are driving a race car some drive 2 miles an hour. There are no regular bus stops - you just flag the bus down where ever you happen to be standing. Same with getting off - just stand up and walk to door and say Aqui. He stops. Even if he'd just stopped 20 feet before to pick someone up. And there are no schedules - they come when they come. So at night when it is dark I take the first thing that comes by - a taxi, a pulmonia or a bus. A pulmonia is like an open golf cart - kind of cold at night. At night I don't drive - the coming headlights bother me too much. The joy of getting older.
Still trying to write something in the blog daily - but once in a while I miss a day. http://lifeinbrowncounty.blogspot.com The RV park is really getting empty - people leaving every few days.
I got smart and am taking my knitting to the hospital with me - really getting a lot done on it. Maybe I'll even finish it one of these days. Will never do that pattern again.
Guess I've rambled on enough for now.
Soon I hope we'll be making travel plans again.

Sorry to hear the Driver had a relapse but hope he will stay until the doctor says he can go this time. I have one of those hard headed men that think they can tell the doctors what to do.

Glad you got the transportation figured out. I would be looking for the 2 mph bus. Years ago I went across the border in Brownsville. The "taxi" we took was a truck with a cover and wooden benches. The first intersection where he just honked instead of stopping I said never again.

Thanks for the update. And I'm so glad he's getting the help he needs. Maybe it's a blessing you're down there. Up here they would have kicked him out of the hospital even before he would have tried. And, yes, enjoy the good weather as much as you can with all this going on. Neither of you need to deal with the weather back home right now.

Love the bus stories. I remember Jean and I taking the bus in Baja a few times. Same thing, just wait and flag one down anywhere along the route. And stop them when ready to get off. I kind of liked the system. But we were on a single road. I'd worry about getting on the wrong bus in the big city. Heck, I'd worry about that in our cities just the same.

Glad to hear that they are also after you to take care of yourself through all this running round and worrying. It will eventually warm up here in the midwest and you will be back on your beautiful screened in porch relaxing and watching the deer wander up to the salt lick.....

glad to hear from you but sorry that the Driver is ailing again or still more than likely...haven't been going to your blog as often for some reason I went over my allotment last month...so trying to 'be good' this month...now it's a new month so can go take a look

Sorry to hear about Bill, Carol, but sounds like things are improving and you also have your timing figured out. Won't be long and he will be back in the rig and enjoying watching the wildlife and anything else that comes around. No use rushing home, it will be there. Take care both of you.
