How to pick the style of RV to get

Travelingusa, I have had two Roadtreks but recently traded the last one in for a Leisure Travel Free Spirit SS with a small slide out. I'm starting out on a year-long trip in June and there were a few things the Roadtrek didn't have.

One big consideration for full-timing is storage as you tend to take more with you if you are going to be away from whatever permanent storage you have for very long periods. A motorhome, Class C or Class A, is going to have more underneath storage than a travel trailer because they are higher and can usually carry more weight. 5th wheels do have more underneath storage than regular trailers, but small ones don't have much. Think about a winter coat, extra dressy clothing, suitcase if you have to fly somewhere, small vacuum cleaner, hobby stuff, etc. However, to a degree, we all adjust our stuff to what storage we have.

I chose a large class C because I wanted lots of sleeping space for my sons and their families as my little grandkids love to camp with grandma. I probably have more storage than I really need, but I like that. Sometimes I have to store something until I get back to Ohio and then I put things in storage locker and pull things out.

Wanted to add about electrical outlets. Need to have electrical outlets in places where you will use them, not so you will have to run cords all over the place. That goes for both 110 outlets and places to plug in 12 volt plugs/chargers. I do NOT have a 12 volt plug where I use my laptop, so I have to keep charging it in the hall or bedroom (only two plugs for 12 v I have) and then using it for a couple of hours, recharging, etc.

I teach online, but have never used a desk. I took out the dinette and replaced it with my recliner from home and that is where I sit when I am on the computer. BUT, I have known people who have replaced a dinette or a couch with a desk. Some dinettes and couches are more removable than others, so you do have to check what is underneath them. I put my dinette in my storage place so I can replace it when I am ready to sell my unit.
