GTG AT RAINBOW SPRINGS SP (FL) 3/6/14-3/10/14

Still having some Internet issues so only a few photos.
I didn't find out how many spring heads feed Rainbow River but I got to see two of them. This is one of them with view down river

Sandy took the kayak out on Saturday but I failed to get any photos.
Sunday morning Linda cooked breakfast before floating down the river

There is another spring head just a quarter mile above this launch site nearest the campground. Sandy pushing Linda off (notice the house across the river also)

And she's off

Takes about two hours to float down stream to first take out point. Sandy and I drove down to pick Linda up but no photos because she was already out of the water when we arrived.
We had hamburgers and a campfire later that evening

Even Nicky enjoyed the fire

Vickie - I actually got a couple more even better butt shots but did not have the courage to post them. Besides Linda and Sandy have been so kind and generous to me on this trip I did not want to take chance they would send lynch mob after me before I left the state.
Forgot to mention that the water at springs is a constant 72 degrees. That is way too cold for swimming to me but there were plenty of others who seemed to think it was fine. In fact one of the photos I couldn't post was of a Canadian man getting into the water as Linda was inflating the kayak. I was trying to photograph him just as Linda bent over to attach pump and most of the photo was her butt.

Great job in sharing the fun with us, Sarah. Looking at the pictures, I so wanted to be putting my kayak in the water and traveling with......I do think I need to bring my extra kayak with me next time and with just a little assistance I think we could get you in (and later out) and you too could do a float down the river. The floats down river are my favorite trips......

Did you gals get to see the waterfalls there?

The waterfalls are in a different section from the campground. We drove over to the swimming area and saw the falls near the entrance, but did not walk through that part this trip because is was near closing time and we had to head back to the campground for dinner. The falls are quite pretty!
