Ouch how painful, and can't imagine in the eye. Hope you heal soon.

Carol, I know this is not only painful, but frustrating for you. Hang in there and you'll get through it, you've been through worse and went on to prove you can!

Wow, the "best laid plans" don't always work out. Hang in there. I took the shingles shot so I hope it works.

Carol I have been worrying about you lately, and now I know why! Shingles is something I never, ever, hope to have. I got my shot last year and am praying it works! A friend of my mother's had Shingles years ago, and her pain is stuck in my mind forever. I am praying that your eye will be fine when this passes, and that you will still be able to have the eye surgery you were counting on. Thanks for letting us know what's been going on since we left Hillsborough! Hugs to you.

Carol - When you are up to it, please post an update on how you are doing - or have your sister post for you.
Been thinking of you and hope healing is well underway.

Carol -

A big hug and lots of prayers to et past this and back on the road.

For those of you that have had the shot - you can still get Shingles! But, hopefully, like mine, it will be a much milder case. The shot may not prevent you totally from having a shingles attack but it will generally make it MUCH less painful and short-lived!! Been there; done that; don't want to do it again!

Update=== around the eye and nose area got really bad, some swelling still there my sis informed me this morning. Most small bumps, I have managed to keep my hands off of it, are drying up, but have a couple of bad places in my hair now that are very painful, wind is not my friend :D I got to the dr. in good time with this mess and meds seemed to keep it from not being as bad as it could have been. I have eye drops for the eye, which feels better, but still does not like light much, but lid is not so swollen and I can open it now. I see the surgeon Wed. afternoon, not sure if he will be able to tell me if any damage to eye or not. It had small blisters on it, which I hated hearing, but we shall see and I will let you all know, when and if I find out anything.

Thanks for thinking of me. I will say, there is no one I would ever wish this on, and its the last thing I ever thought I would come up with. I do believe that stress is a biggy in bringing this on, I dreaded and hated idea of surgery on my eyes and all the app. and flashing lights in my eyes, just irritated me to know end , plus my eye. so don't get stressed out about anything and your chances are good you won't ever get this stuff, MY OPINION

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Shingles is not fun. I had a mild case on my face, forehead mainly and a little on my nose. I did have a bit in my eye, but it looked more like a bloodshot eye. The pain for me wasn't bad at all and it seemed to vanish as quickly as it came on. Maybe it was so mild because I had such a bad case of chicken pox when little. I think I had pox everywhere my body could have a pox. Linda
