Maybe we need to talk about that cruise if it doesn't happen next year :)

A heads up that Kansas State has a home football game that weekend - the State Park can get very busy, but I don't know about the COE.

If it's anything like Fayetteville, Ar when they have a home game there won't be a camping spot within 30 miles anywhere!! Ask me how I know this!

From the sounds of it, I may not need to scout out Tuttle creek. You are probably right about the campsites being full for a home game. I knew I could count on you all making this easy on a first-timer. Based on that, let's zero in on Council Grove.

And Sharon, what would be really great would be for the cruise to take place before the GTG - then we could hear all about it!

The hardest part will be waiting 3 or 4 months before we can make reservations!

I'm penciling this in, also - but will depend on start and end days of any workamp position, of course.

Penciled in too, depending on my route and dates heading back east.

I will be at Tuttle Cove (or in the vicinity) until time to go to Council Grove if any of you want to stop near Manhattan!

22nd is sister Barbara's birthday as well. I guess I guess I should tell her where she will be.

LOL! Remind me closer to the date and I'll plan on making her a cake. If I'm not cruising to the Panama Canal. Choc or van?

Looks like we'll have lots to celebrate!

I rarely plan that far ahead - but glad I was 'encouraged' ;) to peg a date & am now really looking forward to meeting everyone. Woohoo!

By the way, Anita - I'm game to come out to Manhattan anytime you're there. We could have a mini-GTGs whenever you'd like. :D

HI all, I made some updates to the first post with additional info.
We can make reservations 6 months prior to our stay so I'll book my spot as soon as Sept 19-23 opens up!

..
I just tried to make my reservations and it's still too early. For my planned arrival date, I have to wait until March 2?

Anyway, I decided to call to find out about handicap sites for Doofus. Guy said there are no handicap specific sites, but sites #40 and #41 were just redone this winter and have very long concrete pads that go to the covered picnic table that should work fine.

I had planned to arrive several days early and stay several days later. And here's what the ranger guy told me:

September 25-26 - special event that will host HUNDREDS of children.
Looks like I'll be leaving on Catherine's original leave date of 9/22! :)
Which means I'll come in earlier.

Catherine, how far do you live from the park? If you're close, is there ANY chance you get could a photo of sites 41 and 42?

The End.

ON EDIT: I just went back to Catherine's original post and saw that her photo is of site #41!! Doofus, what do you think?

Well, scrolling down page one of this thread, I see this has already been discussed.
My bad.
Good-bye for now.
Last time I ever try and be nice to Doofus.
