Summer Plans

Postby Colliemom » Sun Feb 23, 2014 11:20 am

Winter has been tough and for some like myself, it has a ways to go before I see the ground again. So let's talk summer and summer travel/camping plans or at least the hopes we have for this year anyway.

I for one am planning to get a new two vehicle and also trade for a different TT. Then want to hit the road, spend some time in Michigan's U.P. and then also maybe venture west a bit. Friend wasn't to go to S.D. and the Custer State Park area. And I would like to head down to the Sept. GTG in KS. Maybe elsewhere too, who knows. IL and IN ae withing a day's drive of here as well and places to see there too.

So, what's everybody thinking about for summer. Any interesting trips or maybe caravans heading out? Anybody heading up MI way> If I head into the U.P., maybe some of you in WI or MN might want to meet someplace too. So let's forget winter and do some dreaming here.

I too want to try to make it to the gtg in KS in Sept. That is the only trip currently in any better form than hot jello at the moment.
Am toying with trip to Indiana to the Thor factory; not at all sure about that yet. Probably a few short (within days drive from home) trips will happen especially if someone interested in meeting up.

My first trip will be a long weekend with the Getaway Gals in Ruston, La. It's the middle of March and that will be here before I know it. Then I will spend a week in Galveston the first of April. The middle of May the RVing Women Heart of Dixie chapter have a campout in Breaux Bridge, La. Will probably do some fishing with my sister when it warms up. Life seems to have a way of getting in the way of my travel plans. I would sure like to make it to the Kansas GTG but will have to see.

My brother and sister-in-law want me to go to the Grand Canyon with them. That would be a 2-3 week trip and I don't know if I can be away that long.

Finally got my pickup dug out and plan to take it for a drive today.
Have a week planed in Milton PA at the end of June to see the kids and anyone local I can bump into.
Trying to see if the KS GTG can be in the plans.
We spend most our weekends in Wapakoneta OH CG.
MI is calling for some exploration.

Martha, I vote you make both the KS gtg and the Grand Canyon trip. You deserve it.

plans for summer...well, I am really hoping to get up to Vancouver WA sometime this summer to visit my dad. (and my brother) Its on my mind but of course first things first and thats to get the fifthwheel set back up and after that I'll need to figure out a new budget. I do have
a few "dreams" tucked away in the back of my mind though, and ya never know, I could make it happen. :P But I can't even begin to check into that until after I get the fifthwheel set up.

I have a few trips planned for this year.

My first trip of the year is in mid March to Ruston, La with the GetAway Gals. The first of April will bring me to Galveston, to meetup with the Pink FlaminGoes for a flocking. Mid May I will be in Cecila, La for a rally with the Rving Women Heart of Dixie chapter. In mid December, I will be in Natchitoches with the GetAway Gals.

Hopefully, a few more trips will get planned.

in mid-may..... get what I have to do on the house done... and hope to have
it on the market by the end of June.. I am going to be a great grandma
in July so want to travel to Virginia for that event... after that I would like to travel around
maybe do some meet ups... now all this is God willing and the creek don't rise!

What a fun topic!

Wow - Judi - Alaska! :o what fun & with your new Free Spirit - how exciting!
And I agree with Sarah, Martha - hope you can make both the Grand Canyon & KS ;)
Sue & Sarah, I hope you can both make the KS GTG - I'm looking forward to meeting in person!
And Ava, Vancouver would be so cool - but as you said first things first. The right time will come for each of us.

For me - I'll be driving out to CA to visit the kids sometime this summer. Still working fulltime so this will be a relatively quick (2-week) trip, but maybe I can meet some of you along the way. (I usually take i-40 out & back so let me know if you're even somewhat off my beaten path  )

I'm very excited for the KS GTG. I've been rounding up info & will post some links on that thread shortly. We can book sites 6 months prior so I want to get that out there soon. I can't wait to meet each of you!

Otherwise, I'll try some weekend outings around home. If you're passing thru the area, I'd be happy to host you at the house or meet you somewhere for a weekend campout. :D

Right now my plans are to leave here (Quartzsite) on or about the 15th of April...plan on spending a month in
SLC then up to Tetonia Id...shadow of the west side of the Tetons...spend time helping my daughter (she is working on a master's
and could use a helper with 5 kids) work on a garden going to see my mom hopefully each week (she lives in Jackson WY) saving money for new batteries...because of that I can't see how I can make it to the Ks. gtg was so hoping I could perhaps if I found a paying job
just pretty much what I did last year...
