Women RV - What A Wonderful Thing

Postby Colliemom » Sun Feb 23, 2014 11:10 am

Got to thinking about this group called WomenRV last night. Isn't that when we do our best thinking, when we are supposed to be sleeping  And the more I thought about it, I realized how in love I am with this group.

Over the few years I have belonged I have seen ladies come and go, some have stayed and are still here and other have passed through on their way to other places and things. It's fun reading INtroductions from new members and about their hopes and reams and remembering my first time on here and all my questions, fears and uncertainities. Through patience and caring, you gave me encouragement to be where I am today. I'm not a seasoned RVer in the sense that I have logged many miles with a TT behind me, but I have that TT and have gotten used to pulling it and the things necessary for it's operation. And I'm still learing. We all are.

But what has struck me more than anything else is the caring, sharing, concerns and support that is given out here. We are from all walks of life, and from all parts of the country, even Canada. Many of us have never met other than through our posts on this forum, but yet we can travel anyplace in all 4 compass points and feel like we have a "sister" out there who will welcome us with open arms if we are passing through their area. There has also been a lot of very deep personal issues and serious health issues aired on here too, and always, the person has been lifted up, supported, cared about, prayed for and just loved and in some cases, some of you have opened your homes and taken them in. Advice has been asked for and given, ideas have been shared, GTG's have formed and life long friends have been made, joys and sorrows have been shared and I could go on and on. But best of all if that I, a single person who has no real family other than 4 cousins, feel like I have a large extended family spread all across the U.S.A. It's a wonderful feeling knowing that I can travel now and have somebody out there if I need them or just share a campfire with and maybe even one or more who want to follow along. I've met some of your already and am hoping to meet more.

Thank you ladies for being who you are and Thank You Beth for creating this great place for those of us here to share our love of RV's and RVing. It has been wonderful.

Thank you for writing this this morning, Sue. If not for this group, I would never have gotten on the road. I was about to despair of ever learning all that I didn't know, and being able to do it alone, and when I found you all, you gave me the heart, as well as the know-how, to do it. Priceless! :)

Well said, Sue. I am so glad I stumbled upon this group of women. Makes me realize I can go this journey alone. Hoping that I can take part in a GTG or maybe just meet up with some of you along the road. Something to look forward to instead of just always being by myself when I travel. Last summer was the first time I really got serious about continuing what DH and I did as a team for years. It'll be nice to share either in person or virtually with you all. Don't know where this path will lead me but it'll be fun finding out. So I add my thanks and thankfulness for this group.

You spoke my feelings perfectly Sue. I too appreciate the ladies putting up with questions, and letting me dream the dream. Well said.

Sue....(((hugs)))) thank you for reminding us. Some things should not be taken for granted. This is one of those new kinds of "villages" that help support/care of each other.

(I was going to say helps raise the village idiot....but some short lady out there might take offense... You do know we love you, right?)

Vickie is NOT that short...
And she's NO LADY...
Now, the Village Idiot part...
Yes, she knows you love her.

[b]I, too, love this group, although I have been very remiss with posting lately, and I can't even read all the posts in all the rooms any more. I don't know if I am getting lazier, certainly not less caring, but I find Facebook connections just so much easier to read and write short little posts and make comments on. I have no patience with opening up various rooms in here to read everything that gets posted. I feel ashamed that I ignore so many new posts, and can't decide exactly why I do avoid posting. Picture posting is definitely too hard for me on here with Photobucket, even though some excellent helpful posts have been written on how to do it. I like just being able to take a picture make it smaller and edit it with my computer photo program, add it to my photos on the computer, click a little camera that lets me find the pics right here and now and post them as on Facebook. Some of you have become masters of Photobucket and can post tons of great pics all the time....I envy your patience and dedication. Perhaps if this forum had just one room, like a general room, where we could talk and post and comment without having to go to so many "compartments" and decide which room a post should go into, or something like that. Even then, once you get into the general room, there are tons of other links in there that need to be opened up in order to read and comment. I am sure it's only me who is feeling so stressed lately as I try to keep up with everybody, and also very abashed that I sometimes never get on here for a week, almost. I get drawn into some conversations and then realize I still have another 10, or so, rooms to open up and figure out what is being said in those places. I have made some closer friends in this group than in many places I have lived all my life. This is most certainly a unique, sympathetic, helpful, intelligent, caring group of women who share the love of camping and traveling and RVing. I guess I just need to force myself to be more dedicated to open and read and open and read and open and read and then comment. I have never been known for my patience! And, as many of you have learned over the years, I am not known for keeping my opinions to myself, either! However, at least you all know where I stand on things, and please realize that I miss the chats and posts I used to be able to keep up with. I am not absent for any reasons other than laziness and lack of patience to spend so much time on this computer. I love it when we get together in person and then talk face-to-face and share things. I keep saying I will try to get better, but I suspect I won't. Just know that I do keep up with what many of you are doing on Facebook, although I know that even more of you aren't on Facebook, and hence, I don't stay in touch with you./b]

Soos, I will not use FB for many reasons, so I am grateful to have access to this site. Although I do not post as often as others, I enjoy reading what everyone is doing, especially when it is someone I met at a GTG. Filtering by subject definitely makes it easier to zero in on the areas of interest since I do not have the time or energy to read everything on this site. Why not check one or two of the links that you enjoy reading, such as Morning Coffee and GTGs. You can always scan General Talk and check a thread if it looks especially appealing.

Sue, your words are so heartfelt and so true about this great group of women. Thanks for sharing. One of my favorite things about ask if you, is that this forum doesn't require any deleting and almost no editing of any kind. Everyone respects our differences. That certainly doesn't mean we all agree, lol, but we accept our differences. That is remarkable.

Soos, when I travel like now, I often can't read all the rooms and threads. pick a few, as said, and keep in touch. I do use Facebook but probably only see a scattering of my friends posts there also.
