Saturday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Sat Feb 08, 2014 7:15 am

Good Morning everyone,

Bit of a cold Saturday morning here at the 45th. Temp is around 3 with a wind chill of -3 Sunshine for the morning but clouds moving in later today and some light snow by nightfall. Nothing bid. We have now officially set the mark for the most snow in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan with 139 inches so far and two month of winter left yet. As you can see I have a nice view out my living room windowImage No, we haven't had that much snow  It's due to having my roof shoveled off yesterday. Image It's a ritual of winter in the north when snow starts getting too deep on roofs. First time I have had to have that done for a few years. That gave me some exercise for the morning. Although I had some people doing the roof, I was on the ground with my small snow blower, blowing off what got shoveled down on my deck and entrance to house, plus a few shovelfuls here and there.

Been busy week here as well with working in the house, continuing with kitchen project. Replacing all baseboards and also two doors now have new mouldings around them. Just a few more pieces to go and that will be done. Am making progress slow but sure.

Ms. Sassy has been having some old age issues too, and required a visit to vet this week. Turns out she has elevated liver enzymes, or at least one anyway. So is now on meds and we got back in 10 days for follow up blood test. Too early to tell if it's the onset of liver disease or just something that popped up and will go back to normal. Also appears to have some cataract issues in eyes too, which may be causing a little eye sight problem and a deteriorating nerve/muscle in left hip. So I'm afraid that my poor babies body is gradually giving out. Oh, and she has a little growth over her right eye that somehow she managed to tear last night, so need to take a trip back to vet to have that looked at. I've got a temp bandage on it right now, so she doesn't inflict any more damage. 2014 has not been kind to her.

Barbie, have fun at the RV show. Wish we had a biggie around here, but closest is in Detroit area and can't head down that way. I've got my sights set on another RV, but first must sell the one I have and find a new tow vehicle. Can't do much with all the snow up here, so will wait till spring. But might talk to dealer anyway. Sounds like it's getting to be that time of year when we are all dreaming of those RV's and hitting the road.

Sarah, sure hope it warms up for you. And you get a ride over to MsMermaid. Maybe you need a Skegway scooter

Enough chatter from here this morning. Time to get the day started. Have a great one all.

Good Morning ladies
up early for some reason but getting an early start on laundry and such cause I have a few extra things to do today. Can't wait for tomorrow, I'm excited :D
Enjoyed last evening with a couple glasses of wine as my bus aide at work gifted me a box of wine for my birthday and told me to start
celebrating the weekend. :D so of course, I did :D She's so sneeky, I even remember how in conversation she managed to get me to name
my favorite. she could be dangerous
The weather forecast is promising a really nice weekend up in the 70's almost 80, sorry to all you ladies suffering in the cold, but ya just
gotta come to Arizona :D . I would be surprised if it dipped back down any this season, seems like it should be time for this 70 to 80 holding
pattern for the next 3 months. (think its called spring  )
Time for more coffee and pop the load of clothes in the dryer and get on with the next one. Ya'll have a great day, be safe and be warm.

Good morning everyone. Looks like another cold one for us this week-end. It was -1 when I looked earlier! I have some friends coming by this morning to look at the snowblower. Tried to use it the other day and it wouldn't stay running so had to shovel. I think I may have to get a new one since this one is probably at least 20 years old. Not what I want to spend my money on but may have to. Needless to say I spent a large part of the day outside playing in the snow! Blah, I didn't have fun. Plus I took a fall last Sun. and was still stiff. So it's been a week that I didn't get done what I wanted but oh well. Stuff will be there tomorrow! Still feeling the effects of the fall but each day seems better. Memo to self, wear boots not shoes with no traction! Boy, if I could even get RT out it's tempting to just head south and leave all this behind! I wish, I wish! Okay, I'm done feeling sorry for myself, time to get on with it. Stay safe and warm, everyone!

Mornin' ladies and all that follow. Whoo Sue. I thought holy cow when I saw your pic of snow out the window! Shoveling off the roof is at least one thing I haven't had to do (knock on wood). Poor Ms Sassy, give hugs kisses for me. Gee if weather would permit, you can come to my house for the Chicago RV show next week. I have an extra room, but my bleep bleep boss just scheduled one of my projects to go live Saturday, so that days is out. Good thing I'm taking Friday off so that's the day I'll hit the show for sure now.

Happy early birthday celebration Ava. 2 days and counting!

Lori-I thought you were finally sleeping well and decided to just stay in bed yesterday. Bet Spinner had a blast at doggy daycare and maybe went for naps without you yesterday.

Careful shoveling Sharon. Hopefully your blower will get working again to at least finish this season out.

Flurries starting (again) maybe 3" predicted again today and then back to cold. Everyone's about had it with this winter. I now have to shovel snow a little further because the mounds are so high, I have to start making new piles

Off to the dentist here today, just a check-up. Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning! It’s 10* this morning…that’s the warmest it’s been in the past week. We’re not getting any snow, which is really not good. Extremely cold weather and no snow cover means a lot of winter kill. Also it makes us worry about the possibility of another dry year for crops. Things haven’t completely rebounded from the severe drought two years ago.

Last Saturday was the baby shower for Ashley and Ryan. My sister came on Friday afternoon after I was home from work and stayed until Monday morning. DH, she and I went to an AAU wrestling tournament to watch our friend’s seven year old son. Oh my, what a shock….over 350 little kids wrestling…it was a zoo! We got there about 5:30 and watched Park wrestle three matches by then it was 8:30 and he still had one to go. But we had to leave because I still had to make salads and punch for the shower on Saturday…and we were all suffering from severe cases of bleacher butt. Park did end up winning first in his division.

Saturday afternoon was the shower. I couldn’t believe all the beautiful gifts they received. It took a van and two cars to get all of them back to the house. Oh yes…and the cappuccino punch recipe was a real hit! One girl even decided to switch the punch recipe she was going to use for her wedding and use it!

We had a sad day in the neighborhood this week. Max, my neighbors Maltese and Radar’s bestest (only) dog friend, went to the Rainbow Bridge. I’m going to miss that little dust mop! He’d come over to our house and sit at the patio door until we let Radar out and they’d play for hours in the yard. If he had come over and we weren’t here, he’d leave one itsy bitsy turd on the step….we always called it his calling card and were glad that he wasn’t a Great Dane! Karen and I got Max and Radar at the same time….March of 2001.

Looking forward to pictures of the GTG tomorrow. All pictures are always appreciated! Love Nan’s “Secret”. Safe travels to everyone.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good Morning !! Raining here in central Florida, your pictures of the white stuff, Sue are beautiful, almost made me miss it  I have my usual Fl cold, seems I get one down here each year, not sure why and am at the miserable stage today. I am hoping it is gone before the 13th of Feb my next eye dr app. They measured my eyes, but seems there is one more time. I will have surgery on the right one,(worse) the 4th of Mar. and on the 14th the left. I will be glad when its all over, have to see how to delay my dr. lic renewal app. Got the ph #, but felt so lousey didn't feel like making a call yesterday. Didn't know you could do this, except was told at my app, that it can be done. Now if N>C will do it.

No plans to do anything this week end, except hopefully to get well. Hope the rest of you have plans for some fun things. Roads are terrible in the East so hope no one plans to do much driving in this area Glad to see Mitch is home and that Tina is still out where the weather is decent and roads are ok. Have fun at the GTG tomorrow ladies out that way. Maggie has been wondering how Abby likes going out in the snow to do her business now, she has forgotten about the cold belly while tending to her business :o  Bet Abby could give her an ear full these days after that warm sunshine and sand  Glad you are home Mitch, know somewhat of how you feel, in the early days, had those same feelings or something like them.

Have a good day all, above all please stay safe !!!!

Good Morning

Sue, love the pictures but sure am glad it is your snow and not mine.

Thanks to a short cut MissMermaid showed me, I was able to make the walk over to her place yesterday. Wasn't too bad and Nicky enjoyed the extra steps and visit. Did post a couple of pictures under the Wickham gtg thread.

Donna had invited me to go to some garage sales with her this morning but forecast is for rain and I did not sleep well last night so declined even tho I really wanted to go. Was just moving too slow this morning and if you do yard sales, you know you need to go early.

Have added a rabbit and owl to list of wildlife seen here. That pesky raccoon broke into someones tent yesterday while they were gone; fortunately no real damage tho he did rearrange a few things according to the owner.

CArol - hope you are feeling better soon.

With the time difference from Indiana I find myself going to bed at 3AM there and 12 here, I'm messed up on times. It's ok, slept good last night, husband, Tom calls about 8 Vegas time and wakes me up generally. He is getting ready to get off work then and go to dinner. If I have any issues I can always bounce them off him. However, I didn't tell him I had to replace the fridge and one of the furnaces, somethings you wait till he is home and rested before springing things like that on him. His standard answer is always "if I were home I could have fixed that for .....". I told him one day, if you want quit work and stay home and fix stuff it might not equal out. I'm pretty sure he will after this project though. He wasn't going to take another one but he doesn't want to take SS till he is 70, huge difference from age 66. We are both healthy, his job isn't physical, so if that's what he wants to do I don't say anything,up to him. He is supposed to be there 2 or 21/2 years, the project itself will last 10, they are building a refinery in Lobito, Africa, I hope he doesn't choose to stay longer.

Sue Anne and I are playing on our computers for awhile. We have been to Vegas quite a few times and always like it but we have seen most of the stuff. It looks dead compared to what it used to be. I miss all the little shops that used to be on the strip some were kind of junky but it was still fun going in and out, they tore all that down and made it more sterile.

We may go to the area where the Coca Cola store, M&M, and all those are, we always like those. I also see that the Luxor has the Titanic exhibit that sounds interesting. We will wonder around later today, its going to warm up which will make it pleasant.

Yesterday we went to the Fashion mall, we both got some clothes, I got a pair of very rigid Ecco shoes. I need that and orthotics for my very bad ankles. They felt so good I wore them all afternoon. I usually break them down fast, the way these are made I think they may last for some time. It will take a day or two to know if they will really feel good or hurt, it depends how it pushes the bones together.

We are having a good time, we always do no matter what we do. I just like traveling. We can have a great time just walking around and looking without spending a ton of money. It's just fun going and doing. Everyone have a great day, we sure will. Life is good.

Not the best of trades, in my opinion....
We've got a good 12+" of snow on the ground, temps getting in the 20's today - hooray!!! and possibly more snow. I've decided cold is cold... Funny how just getting into the teens feels good after being so close to zero for so long. Not sure if I could handle 139" of snow. yikes!
Some of those little towns in Mexico look mighty inviting. I still loved a house I found online in Loreto - until i saw it was over 700 miles from San Diego. :(

Hope everyone stays safe & warm.
PS. Happy early bday, AVA - only 2 days according to your countdown to purchasing your pass! woohoo!

Mitch - know you are happy to be back home and out of your little sand box but think I might have moved a little slower getting back to the snow and ice.
