Because Magic sits for long periods unused, I decided to buy tire covers last fall but never got them on the unit. Will use them when I get back home this time.

BTW: When I got mine, Camping World had a very good sale on them I assume they put them on sale once or twice a year.

Not sure if they help, but figure I need to do what I can. Myrtle has 6 huge tires and it cost me a chunk, last winter, when I had to buy 2 front tires  The sidewall on the passenger side had a crack as wide as the Grand Canyon. Looked too risky to ignore. Put on my new covers, today. Was laying on the ground to clip the straps around the back and noticed something wet under Myrtle. Dammit!!! If it's not one thing, it's another  Have to investigate further, but looks like maybe a seal, or something, is leaking. Was hoping to get a new rubber roof, if I have any money left after buying a toad. Hope this isn't costly. Speaking of that, didn't someone get a rubber roof, for a good price, from a guy in TX?

Does anyone here have a Ford Focus for their toad? What do you all know about this for a flat towable? I kind of like the hatch back. Probably around an '07?

There are spray on roof liners that might be a better choice than a new rubber roof. I've been reading about the Rhino system but I hope to get a few more years out of my roof. ;) The 1st is by the people who make Rhino Bed Liners http://www.rhinolinings.com/newsevents/press-releases/2012/rhino-linings-introduces-long-term-rv-roof-repair-and-restoration-product The other is a similar product by a guy in Florida who they talk about on RV.net I believe this is his site http://rvroof.com/

Cost more due to the amount of prep work required but lasts longer and takes more abuse. Might be worth looking into.

Thanks, Melissa! I always thought rubber was a poor choice in roofing material. The guy I had heard about does something besides rubber. Maybe this is it. Any idea of the cost? They said something about insurance companies paying for it. In what cases do insurance pay? Only when a branch tears it, etc? I had LineX put in my truck bed and have seen it applied to the front of a friend's car. Why not a roof? Makes sense to me! Now, to find out the cost and who does it?

My son has a 2012 Ford Focus hatchback and likes it a lot. I don't remember what the information on towing a Focus was. I just got a Honda CR-V a few months ago in case I ever want to tow anything. The Fit is too close to the ground for my DH to get in and out of. I looked at a new Ford Escape but I don't think the newer ones can be towed. I liked the Chevy Equinox but it's almost 1,000 heavier than the CR-V.

Here's a video clip if you did not see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq4_PGUPoIM&feature=share&list=PL0008136C4AC51DFF If I understand correctly the cost is near that of a rubber roof. If the roof is damaged there is no issue from the insurance company about repairing the Rhino Roof. GMAC approves of the roof.

The guy in FL with a similar product said they were about the same price if not cheap than the rubber roof.

Not having to deal with roof maintenance, roof replacement, cooler RV and a 30 year warranty kind of makes it a no brainer for me. I hate worrying about the roof and this will be on the list of upgrades for my RV.

Linda, just a heads up on Carfax. The previous owners of the motorhome I just sold ran a Carfax when they bought it. I saw the paperwork. Said it was clean. When I was having steering issues I was told it had been in a wreck and replacement parts were wrong or missing. Another place I got some work done told me the same as did the auto sales guy that I eventually sold it to, and he asked if he could run a Carfax, which he did, and nothing. It all depends if the repairs were turned into an insurance co. is my thought on that.

This is true, but Carfax has already helped me to discover that a couple of cars were owned by dealers, not private sellers. I prefer to buy from a private seller, if possible. If not, I don't want a "curbstoner"...a new term I learned from Carfax ;) Carfax warned me that the dealer could be posing as a private seller to make more money and this is illegal. Looks like they do this a lot on Craigslist. I also found that one seller has a loan and wasn't prepared for someone like me to ask to go with them to their bank and get the title. Their lender was Toyota Financial, so I asked them if there was a local bank they would deal with. They never got back with me. I can't imagine anyone would trust them to pay it off and send them the title. They could get stuck paying it off. Car buying is a job! Thanks, Martha, for the toad advice.

I did email the sales dept for the Rhino roof, asking the price. By the wording, it sounds like it costs less than replacing a rubber roof every few years...not less than one rubber roof application.

Loved the quarter story. I ALWAYS take an extra quarter because I so often have either dropped it or the machine doesn't like it or I have miscounted, etc. etc.

I went to my monthly club meeting. The restaurant we meet at is the worst. Some ordered hamburger steak and the waitress comes back and says they are out of ground meat. Really! The same family owns a meat market next door and they are out of ground meat. I ordered chicken fried steak. I wish I had taken a picture of the gravy. It looked like paste. I think the people that owned our favorite restaurant that burnt have found some land to rebuild on. Please hurry and rebuild.

It's suppose to freeze again tonight and tomorrow night and rain tomorrow. Hopefully it will be above freezing when the rain starts.

When I was working at Amazon, I was interviewed by Arline Chandler. If you subscribe to Workamper News, you know who this is. She is an author and has written, not only for the magazine, but books on RVing and workamping. We have kept in touch since we all left KY. I got another email from her, today, asking for an update. She said this all is for an article in an upcoming issue of Workamper News Magazine. It will be cool to see how the article turns out. If anyone gets the actual magazine, I would love to have some copies for friends and families. I will ask again later, after it comes out.

Getting excited...My long time girlfriend, who I call "Sis" is coming next week, for a visit. She is flying in from CA and I get to enjoy her company for a week :D Barbie, you got to meet her. She lives in Joshua Tree and we tried parking at her place, before moving up to the campground.

Tired of the cold weather, like most of you. This is Texas???

Martha, I will never forget the night I drove through a Kentucky Fried Chicken place only to be told at the window that they were out of chicken!!

I was so surprised I had to ask the lady to repeat it twice.

 I once had the A&W people tell me they were out of Root Beer. I was shocked. When I asked the young woman behind the counter if she thought it was odd for a "root beer shop" to be out of root beer she said nope "they forgot to make it, but they had other soda". I reminded her the name of the place is A&W Root Beer and she replied "so, we are only out of root beer".
