Interesting about ginger. It is also very good for seasickness. When I was on an Atlantic Crossing, they offered a large display of candied ginger and chocolate slivers just outside the dining rooms.

Today was a cloudy day, and I made sure to have some caffeine "pop" around 2:00 pm, so my headache was not so bad today. Am still going to try to get an early start tomorrow so I can find an urgent care center not too far from McDowell.

I,agree with the other suggestions and add that I have had good results using Naprosyn Gel Caps for headache pain. Hope you find relief.

Like others have said, no chocolate, (for me dark chocolate was the culprit). I used to also get it after eating roast beef? I would take two Excedrin migraine, get my long ice pack out of the freezer and wrap my head with it over my eye so it would be dark and then then lay down. Usually within half an hour I would feel better but then was woozy for a while.

Found an urgent care center after I got to the Phoenix area. I was a bit concerned when there was a lady in the lobby who was very sick and vomiting. I told the lady at the desk that this person needed to be taken care of right away, but I was also concerned about catching something. Hospitals and doctors offices are germ-ridden places!

Luckily, it was cloudy today so I did not have the bright sun while I drove, so it was not too bad.

Anyway, he gave me a shot of an antihistamine which he said would reduce inflammation which they think has some effect on migraines, but told me that unfortunately, over the past 20 years there has been virtually no changes in the treatment for migraines. They still don't know what causes them. In any case, he also gave me a prescription of a drug which is a combo of Tylenol, caffeine, and a barbiturate. I have not taken one yet since my headache is not too bad, but I will take one tomorrow just before headache time.

It is a bit scary to start a new drug when you are alone, but I do keep my cell phone handy, and I have never had an allergic reaction to anything. Tomorrow is a staying put day.

Could you take just half a pill first time to see if you have any reaction?

Yes, Ginger, that is exactly what I am going to do right now. I can feel the headache coming on. It is a problem traveling alone and taking a new drug, so that will be safest. Will see if they help.

Hey JudyJB we need a report, haven't heard from you since you took the new medication. If you had contacted me for hypnosis you wouldn't have to worry about side effects! Humm or is that affects I can never remember the rule.

I took a half of a pill on Saturday and the same on Sunday, and it seemed to help. I was out and about today so did not take one, although I can feel one coming on now and am going to take a half right now.

I will be glad to see my primary care doctor in April.

Judy, I just came across a picture on FB of a smoothie to help with migraines. It didn't give the full instructions but has the following ingredients:

1/2 pineapple
3-4 kale leaves
1 stick celery
1/2 cucumber
1/4 lemon
1/2 inch ginger root.

So I googled and came across a similar smoothie recipe here:

I figure nothing can hurt - and I love trying things natural.
