It has been ages since I've checked in, Sistahs! Got out of the habit, with working so much on my summer workamping job, in MI, then Amazon for peak season. I started at Campbellsville Amazon on Sept. 9 and only stayed through peak this year. Hated the winter weather I had to endure last year, staying on after peak. I was a picker this time, so walked many miles and probably lost 15 lbs (which I'm gaining back). Had a great time, in what little spare time I had, with friends. I met a guy there and we decided to volunteer together in TX, so here I am in Waller. Boondocked all the way here, taking about half the trip on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Loved it and would like to do the whole thing, someday. Followed Bob and he went the wrong way, so we missed the first half  The job here is OK. Lots of free time. We are setting up new cabins, so not hard, and only 9 hrs/wk, each, for our sites. The area is boring and I've decided I don't much care for Bob's company. Glad I figured that out early, though I wish I figured it out before coming to TX with him. Would rather be in FL, where most of my friends went. Guess it was meant to be, though, as I sold my truck while here. I don't really like relying on Bob for transportation, but it's working out OK. I'm shopping for a toad, so will post that on another thread.

My son's engagement party is this weekend, in VA. He really wanted me there, and even offered to pay for an airline ticket and hotel, but just couldn't get up the gumption to go. Haven't flown in ages, so was a bit anxious about that, plus winter weather that way. His wedding is in Oct, so will have to use my time off slips at Amazon to go. Feeling bad about not being there for him this weekend.

My girlfriend, Lori, from Joshua Tree, is coming next month, for a week :D That gives me something to look forward to. If I find a toad, I could move on to another volunteer job and work my way up toward IA. I promised my mom I would pay her an extended visit, so plan to go up the beginning of April...weather permitting. I plan to change my residency from SD back to IA. No real benefit for me, right now, to use SD. Did that when I was married, as he was getting disability and soon to get various retirement $. IA has expanded their Medicaid program and I qualify for it. That will be a huge benefit for me!!!

yes, really nice to hear from you Linda, glad to hear you're doing ok. Barbie, does keep us posted as to how you are, so we know you are well and kicking, but none of the good stuff, :D You have the most interesting love life, nice to know someone does, even if the guys don't work out for too long :D Try to post more often, I am glad to hear you have had good luck locating jobs and keep yourself going.

The Natchz Trace is my favorite place, when I head west, I always spend several days on it, never tire of it, such a beautiful place and so peaceful and of course the CG's are free and so nice. Always glad to hear when someone else has enjoyed it too, but always wish I could have been there with them

Take care Linda, the fire seems to be almost out tonight, and I need to get off to bed, hope someone can get it going a wee better.

Night all !!!

Sheila, sorry to hear about the little ones, what is RSV?[/quote]

Respiratory not sure of the S infection....as I understand it for an adult
would basically be a bad cold but with some of the little one (as well as young) this can be
a lot worse on them...DD said that they caught gdaughters early so she is doing better when I texted her
this morning they were doing the waiting game...haven't heard yet tonight but she knew I was at QIA making
salads....will give her a call soon

Yep! Still hanging in there. God has to be watching over me. Don't know how I could have survived out here, otherwise. It is definitely a challenge for those of us who are not yet retirement age. I'm constantly job searching. I did apply for UI, after finishing at Amazon, though I'm not quite sure when I will receive $ I got online and claimed my first check, but nothing has arrived in my account  It's a small amount, but could buy a few groceries. So hard to find paid workamping jobs in the winter. At least I don't have rent or utilities to worry about by volunteering. They are even giving me a small amount to help with laundry.

It was a beautiful day, today. Got up near 60. Took a couple of walks with the boys. I opened up Myrtle and enjoyed the fresh air. Got a wild hair to lemon oil all of my wood cabinets and doors. Never have done it, so they were pretty dry. WOW! What an improvement  Now, if I could just get inspired to finish repainting my cabinet handles. Did some of them when I first got Myrtle, but never finished the project. There are a lot!!! Need to make a list again. May defrost the fridge, tomorrow. Also need to flush my water heater and disinfect my fresh water tank. Bob waxed his rig, so kept going and did Myrtle, too. She is happy :D She really needs a new rubber roof, so hoping I have plenty of $ left over, after I buy a toad, to pay for that. Was it someone on here who had a guy do that in TX? PM me if you know.

Glad Barbie keeps you informed on my comings and goings. I was hoping I would be in FL and could gtg with her and the sistahs. Really nothing to report in the romance department. Sorry! Ken and I are still keeping a close friendship and miss each other's company. He will probably come spend most of the summer with me, in MI. I know he was backing away so I could find someone my age, but I have decided that I would rather spend a lifetime with a close friend than a year with a jerk. We get along with and know each other so well. We also work well together. I guess you could say he's my male BFF ;)

Hey Linda! I went kayaking with manatees today! Wish you could have come down this way.
I just read that Amazon is planning to build two distribution centers in Florida, so you can work down here in a few years.

Linda - where would you be in Iowa. I'm only 2 hours from Davenport and plan to do some campground scoping out along the Mississippi this summer on some day trips (Galena, Quincy, areas and who knows what else).

Would not be a day trip but I was looking at River View in Vidalia LA http://riverviewrvpark.com/directions.htm It's right on the Mississippi across from Natchez MS. The idea of sitting on the river watching the barge traffic slip up and down the river sounded relaxing. Probably won't be this year but with the nasty weather I was surfing and dreaming of warmer weather

The Good Sam site say $29.95 to $38.95 which is about average.

Linda stays at her moms in Des Moines. She will be heading to Michigan from there.
It might be awhile before she gets on here again. Try pm'ing her if you want to get more info on her plans.

Yes, Cheryl...as Barbie said, I will be parking at my Mom's, in West Des Moines. I plan to be there for at least the first half of April. Not sure exactly when I will head up to MI. I take I-80 and usually do the whole thing in one day, but would be so happy to have an excuse to stop for the night ;) I always love meeting the sistahs :D

Linda-I'm less than 10 minutes from I-80. Would love to do a quick meet-up if possible.

Barbie - Thanks for the follow-up. Hope you're having way too much fun in FL.
