Still cold Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Louise, I hope things went as well as possible for you under todays circumstances. If you can get away, come on to the gtg - folks will be there all week.

Soos - good news about Molly; glad you didn't cancel.

Vickie ((((((((hugs))))))) Hang in there.

Barbie: Glad you made it to FL. Most of us will be arriving at gtg on Sunday but I don't think we can check in until 2 or 3 PM. Nan and Margie are arriving on Saturday so if you get there early, look for one of them.

Pat - Something bad wrong when it is warmer in SD than AL or FL!!!!!

Martha - hope you not coming down with something serious.

I had one of those "oh no" days as not much went according to plan but I still managed to go with the flow.

Older niece called late today - good and bad news. Younger niece is still improving and by tomorrow should be sitting up enough to be ready to transfer to rehab facility. Bad news hospital is desperate for beds (still having flu and pneumonia outbreak in town plus now dealing with hyperthermia problems) and wants to discharge her this weekend since doctor approved the transfer. The rehab facilities are all full so no space for her. Hospital now checking for assisted living facilities with therapy dept that will accept short term people but that's not looking good either. After talking with older niece, I'm sending her some more money in the morning in case the only option is to take sister home with her and have Home Health care come for therapy. That means older niece will miss more work but we decided on that rather than me turning around and heading back north right now with the threat of ice.

I had planned to try to make it to Ocala for the night but with late start this morning, delays on phone with older niece, and not enough sleep I decided to stop in Lake City - I was fighting staying awake the last 70 miles anyway so better safe than crash Magic. Since Irmi wasn't feeling well yesterday probably better to wait and visit her on the way back anyway. In fact I'm going to check distance but thinking about just staying put until Sunday morning, then go straight to Hillsborough from here. Going to be below freezing again tonight but no where near as bad as past 2 nights. Plans still "jello" but tomorrow will be much warmer during day and I may just try to enjoy the few warm hours because another cold front coming in Tuesday. Nicky and I have moved so little lately, we both need to see if we can still walk further than the nearest tree.

Sarah, sorry to hear about the ongoing problems finding your niece a place to go, but it's wise for you to continue south. With all the wrecks going on around here today, I'm glad you're staying put till it passes.

I went out to get the mail today & the mailbox was covered with ice. I figured if I couldn't get it open, the mailman probably couldn't either & didn't put anything in there.

Thanks so much for all the good wishes. They really carried me through -- I didn't even cry. So, one small step closer to the goal.

I won't make the Florida gtg this year, but I'll sure be reading about it! You guys be sure to post all the fun! :D

Stopped at Costco on the way home and picked up some food for the GTG. Spoke with Sarah while driving home. She has wisely not hooked up the water line since she is in North FL and will have another cold night or two.

Hang in there Louise and let the lawyer take care of the problem for you. Try not to worry too much.
