1992 American Eagle-New Here

I'm new here, kind of an odd situation, don't really fit anywhere.

I'm almost 68, married 46 years, have a mentally challenged 42 year old daughter that travels with me. My husband is still working and works out of the countrym he doesn't plan to retire till 70, I wonder if he will then. He isn't much on RVing, I mean he is always gone and likes to be home when he gets home, but he doesn't care if I go and supports my decision. Our DD loves it. I haven't gone as much as I like, really just started this about 4 years or so ago and usually go on 1 big trip a year. On my 3rd RV, started with an 80 something Class C, had to many issues, got it to just see if I enjoyed it. Next was a 2006 29 ft Winnebago gas engine with 2 slides, but the wind blew me all over. He tried all kinds of fixes that didn't work well. So hubby said he would get me one that doesn't blow all over so I ended up with my 38 ft diesel pusher with my 2005 Saturn Vue, stick.
Once we made sure the engine, tranny and things were good now we will move on to some other things.

Right now I'm in Quartzsite and waiting on a new fridge and a fix to my water heater. It's nice here and I'm enjoying it, plan to be here 10 days then on to where I don't know. I can be gone several weeks. We just moved from Houston after being there for 30 years back to our roots in southern Indiana. I love spring, summer, and fall there but not winter. And this one is a killer.
I wasn't sure where to introduce myself so sort of did here. Oh and our 18 year old kitty travels with us, the dog stays with MIL. Another reason we are back there she is starting to get alzheimers we think, so getting away long as I can. We will eventually have to have her go to a nursing home but so far she is still making it.

Anyway, I wrote a novel, kind of introducing and explaining our situation.

Welcome from the midwest, Pat.
As the others have said there's a place for everyone here. That's what makes this group so great - we're all different with a common love of the road & the freedom of seeing this beautiful country in our RVs & vans - big or small, doesn't matter. So just make youself at home & join the fun.
Looking forward to meeting you down the road.

Thanks all, I just met up with folks from the RV forum, the forum "framily" this afternoon. I hope to meet with them for brunch tomorrow, but a repair person is coming to see what happened to my water heater, it lights but won't stay lit. My fridge died, expensive fix, and also think the P trap on the washer froze, hubby said he didn't run the pink stuff through it so I have a leak. This is an old motorhome but we have found all of them are money pits. Also this one drives really good and is old enough my husband can do a lot of the repairs, but not when I'm on the road.

Those fixes will lighten the old repair checkbook, ouch. We will be here till Friday then I'm not sure where we are going. Depends on the weather, been 3 or 4 years since we have been to Vegas, there is a nice RV park right on the strip.

Sounds like my husband is not going to get in till April 1 this time instead of March 1 so I have plenty of time to wonder. He is in Lobito, Angola in Africa. So we wil both be where its warm.
