Visiting seven tiny towns in Mexico

We hooked up with a Mexican Congresswoman and toured with her as she visited several of the tiny out in the middle of nowhere towns in her district just north of Mazatlan. She was giving away heavy wool blankets to every person in every town. She was also talking about new government programs that will improve the standard of living. Any way - she and her husband bought the blankets with their own money and were providing the transportation and gasoline for this endeavor - not for us of course. It was a very interesting day and she is quite an individual.
I did two blog post yesterday - one on what we started out to do - eat breakfast in El Quelite and the second on visiting all the tiny towns. The REAL Mexico - I doubt tourists had ever been in a couple of the towns. We were welcomed every where.

I love reading your blog. It is so interesting see the small towns in that part of the country and how the townfolk live. You and Bill really get out there in the heartland and interact with the citizens which makes your life so exciting and full of adventure. You are truly living a dream! Good Sunday morning Carol and Bill. I loved your blog post. The central market reminded me of the markets in northern Thailand. The meat is fresh, slaughtered hours ago. I have met Americans who brag about how they beat the price down. If the item was worth the asking price to me, I paid the full amount and didn't care if the woman made more money. You two really take the time to see the real, true Mexico and it's people. Most tourists never see that aspect of Mexico, nor do they want to.

I was also thinking that when Mexicans come up here, they must find things really boring in this country as far as architecture and colors. Our homes and buildings are so monochromatic compared to their vibrantly colored buildings. Also, people there seem to take a lot more pride in their homes and communities, no matter how little they have, than poor people in our country do.

Oh boy! It’s my lucky day. Just read my emails and the President of a bank in East Asia wants to send me 1.5 million dollars…..Do people really fall for these schemes?

Unfortunately, yes. My dad used to fall for all those schemes. Took quite awhile to get him to stop giving his money to those people (to get his winnings). Most of his scams came out of Jamaica, but some were from Spain and Canada. Many elderly people are very naïve and vulnerable to that kind of thing. Very sad.
