Almost RV'er

Come on in and say hello.

Almost RV'er

Postby drocknut » Sat Jan 11, 2014 3:35 pm

Hi, I just joined the forum so am introducing myself. I am in the process of trying to find a travel trailer to live in full-time so I'm an almost RV'er. I am 47, been divorced for more than 10 years; so basically single. I live in Montana most of the year but in the winter I travel south to Arizona to spend time with my mother. I have been working as a tree trimmer (seasonal work) but that job may be history (very long story). I have been considering buying and living in a travel trailer for about a year now but just recently I have gotten more serious about it. My best buddy and traveling partner is my 16lb dog Gypsy a Maltese Yorkie mix who is just over a year old now. I'm very interested in boondocking and being more self-sufficient. I'm looking at buying a smaller (16 or 19 foot) pull behind travel trailer but haven't found one yet. I hope you all don't mind my getting a jump start on the RV life by joining the forum before I'm actually doing it.

Call me anything except "late for dinner" ...LOL. Sorry couldn't resist that.
My name is Diane or you can call me drocknut, either one works for me.
Is there a specific place on the forum for me to ask questions about buying a travel trailer or are there posts regarding buying trailers?

Welcome to the forum. You can check back threads using the search feature. The main issue that i hear regarding TT is making sure you have enough tow vehicle to pull what you want. Don't believe the Sales Person regarding buying a vehicle and what it will pull or buying a TT with their assurance that your present vehicle has enough power. We do have several experienced individuals on the forum that do understand the weigh issues and the safety equipment, anti sway bars, etc that make towing a TT safer and as a result much more fun! Do your research. Many products have their own Owner's forum where you can glean a lot of information. There are also things to look for when buying a used any RV that you will want to familiarize your self with.

But have fun and keep us in the loop.

Hoosier Welcome :D

Finding the right RV is a very personal choice. There are pros and cons to each design but luckily there is an RV for everyone out there. Just need to figure out how you wish to live and use it and you'll be half way there.

Welcome Diane! Wish you were near, I would call on you for tree trimming as hubby can't do it anymore, but then I never trusted him around my trees anyhow (he can do a lot of damage in a hurry with a saw when his idea is cut it short, as opposed to cut it correctly. LOL)
Anyhow we loved eloping people spend their money and hope to help them make the best decision for their individual circumstance.

Hi Diane - welcome from Illinois. There are a few of us who aren't who don't have an RV yet. The ladies don't hold it against us (I don't think :D ) and are willing to answer all questions. It's great because you can get different opinions and points of view from their experience.

Welcome Diane from Texas. We love to "help" you find your RV. Go to some of the old threads under Rigs and you'll find lots of information.
