Long hard day at hospital - update

Postby bluepinecones » Thu Jan 09, 2014 10:50 pm

Had to take younger niece to ER early this AM as she woke up with high fever and trouble breathing. Her immune system is weak from chemo and now she has flu and pneumonia. Her blood pressure and oxygen levels were very low by the time we got there. Dehydration another problem so they got her on IV fluids quickly. Staff got her stabilized in ER but had to wait a several hours before they could get a bed for her in ICU (hospital full of people with flu and pneumonia as both are rampant here). Doctor left orders to put her on ventilator if breathing worsened during night. Even tho she should not have been out of bed herself, older niece was at hospital with us most of the day. Prayers and positive energy appreciated.

Will have to catch up on other posts later.

Prayers and good thoughts flying out to Bama. I have several friends struggling with cancer treatments right now it feels like an epidemic. Her poor immune system is so low all of the nasties out there just fly to her, poor baby! Been there, done that and hope she feels better soon.

((((hugs))))) to all. Be sure not to get yourself run down with all the care taking and worry. You are too valuable to all the rest of us! Take care. I have been thinking of you often....every time I look out at the beaches and the waves...."Sarah, would like this." I tell Remi. "Yes she would..." he says.

So sorry to hear about your niece. I hope she is better soon. Remember to take care of yourself too Sarah, will all the flu it might help if you take a good multi vitamin along with an extra 500 mg of C.
