Tuesday in the Big GA Freeze...

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Tue Jan 07, 2014 6:04 am

Good morning, all...Yep, it's the Big GA Freeze here today...right now at almost 6am it's 23F with a wind chill of 15F....geez, if I had wanted to be this cold, we could have stayed in PA.. ..but weather guys & gals have it warming up to almost normal by Thursday... :D So we'll be inside for the day...I've been up since 3:30am, so will probably nap some.... ;) Hope Spinner waits til 7am or later for his morning walk...it maybe up to 30F by then   I'll not hold my breath on that one...

Okay, not much more to add, so will offer some coffee and oatmeal and advise ya'll in the freeze to stay warm and don't go out unless you have to...

Stay safe, and have a good day...

GM yes it is also cold here in Ocala 29 windchill 17... not sure where the heat went... but at least it will be over in a day or two...
My daughter wound up in the ER last night... the doctor said there is a real chance of more infection because of the problems during surgery... they did all kinds of tests and an MRI (I think that is what it is)... she is back home now... she goes to the doctor on Thursday...
I have my huge down filled coat over my shoulders and it is keeping the chill off from the window!
Maybe a movie and dinner out with my friend Molly later... or maybe another day... I am not awake yet!
Check in and let us know how you are surviving the deep freeze... How long will the Baja Babes be gone? hope they stay until spring...

Good morning all. Lori, you don't want to be in PA today! Just looked at the outside temp. Said -8 and that's without wind chill. I sure plan on staying in today! No place I need to go today. Schools all over the place planned closings last night instead of waiting until early a.m. to call off. But at least it's supposed to go up to low 20s tomorrow! Balmy! The dogs didn't spend much time outside, went out and back in quicker then normal. Smart boys! Looks like there aren't many places today that aren't in this deep freeze. So stay safe and warm, everyone. And Kathleen, hope your daughter feels better soon. Gotta be a worry.

Good morning. We have had a hard freeze for 2 days now. I slept in RED last night so I felt safe running the portable ceramic space heater and run the water regularly. It'll get above freezing by noon today and stay that way for awhile.

I keep trying to give my daughter over to the military. Today will be "take 2". Delivered her to recruiter Sun afternoon. Recruiter checks them into hotel. I went to hotel and took her to dinner. Mon AM went to to Processing center (MEPS) to watch swearing in and then go to airport, but not to be. The flts up to Chicago were cancelled. (No surprise there!). There are 12 Navy recruits scheduled to ship on Mon. Plan B all come back Wed, ship on Thurs. Then their Plan C (plans changed every 20 min) put 10 shippers on a flt departing Tues. Daughter's last name is at end of alphabet, so she is not one of the 10. Remaining 2 will start all over today to ship on Wed. So I brought her home, we had pizza and she went to bed and slept late and I will deliver her to recruiter yet again this afternoon and go through the whole process again. It is really hard for her. She just wants to get going and this will probably push her Boot camp graduation another week because of all the weather delays. It is really hard for me to say good bye over and over as well.

Everyone have a great day. Stay warm and be safe. Aloha

The schools were closed again for today but it didn't get as cold as predicted. Only -9* right now. We are finally heading out of this crap! Supposed to be in the low to mid 30's Friday thru Sunday! Yay! I hope this super arctic stuff is over for the winter.

Got the day off and taking my dad to a doctor appointment later on. Otherwise, just a few small projects to work on after that.

Stay warm and safe!

G'morning all :)

Think we're all ready for the big freeze to pass--I heard that Hawaii it the only sate that's not below freezing. Bet you wish you were back there, eh Red....Kathleen, sorry about your daughter. Hope they can get her squared away. Red, glad you have a couple more days with yours:)

Tomorrow is our new departure date. Looking forward to caravaning with Anita, but we cancelled a mini gtg with KarenS in Tallahassee. I'll catch her when I return in March. CArol was smart and headed further south! Hope you missed this 20° weather.

Y'all have a great day and be safe and WARM:)

California isn't freezing (except for some spots in the Sierras). Still beautiful here but no rain which we need badly. Hope things get warmer for all of you stuck in the cold. Stay safe.

Morning is almost gone and it is still just 34 out - much warmer than when I got up!!

Kathleen, I hope your daughter doesn't run into anymore problems and that they have her on the road to recovery!

Hated saying goodbye to CArol yesterday, but hoping we both make the Midwest GTG in September.

Red, sometimes we just can't get rid of children! :) I know this has to be frustrating for your daughter - I sort of feel the same way about getting on the road!

It amazes me what cold weather can do to plans! I am all for getting up early (for me) tomorrow, but don't really want to be dumping and filling in cold weather.

Stay safe and warm!

Good Morning !!! I'm farther south but still REALLY cold here, that ole wind goes right thru ya. Maggie and I, had our walk, think she would have liked longer been a couple years since she has sniffed around here. Glad I knew this St. Pk, he gave me a spot in the shady loop, and I asked didn't he have one in the other where the sun shines and of course he did. So sun is shining in window and adding more warmth. No one stirring outside, saw a couple sites with tents, hoping they have heaters.

Maggie and I, have 3 days here, looking forward to more walks. Maybe I'll get the rest of my organizing done  Some projects I've had to do since I left home, hmmmmm ,

Kathleen, I'm in park where you attended your last GTG. They shut it down for awhile, looks about the same, supposed to be new electric and sewer, I do have full hook ups here, of course sewer connection is way off from me being able to use it :D price has gone up, several dollars more a night then others I've been in this year. It was late and it's close to my sisters. They will be home before Friday but I told her they needed time to rest, helped her disappointment reminding her.

I hope your DD gets well very soon, Kathleen !! I don't even want to try to imagine how cold the places are some of you are in. Try to stay warm and safe. Last winter I spent at my home it got down to 3 in daytime, not sure what temp was during the night, better not to know. So cold 15 inches of snow froze(never have that much at a time there), so now you all know why I'm a snowbird in fl  But I'm still cold !!!

Have a good day, nice one to curl up with a good book, I must leave my book alone and do some of these projects, oh gosh, I'm so easily tempted  Stay safe and warm, but enjoy,

CArol :)

Maybe I'll spend next winter in CA, Hated leaving to, Anita , but was way cold enough down here  Do your dumping today in afternoon sun, just a suggestion, I sure enjoyed the fact I didn't have that job to do as I drove out, sprinkling and getting cold then. Let me see if this will post now

It got down to 23 last night. It's just now up to 33. One more night of freezing temperatures and then it will warm up and rain. I'm glad it didn't decide to rain the past 3 days.

Two of the cats are flying low around the house. I told them I was going to put their fuzzy butts outside and let them cool their heels. They will go to the door like they want out but change their minds when the cold hits them.

I'm trying to talk myself into going to town but not moving very fast.

Morning gone and we will stay below freezing again. Just a couple of days left before warm up and I'm so ready.

Poor Nicky forgot about the ice and bounded out the door; big slide and hard fall. Thought I might have to go out to check on him but after a few seconds, he got up and walked around the yard more carefully. Didn't take him long to want back inside and is now asleep in my bed.

Made some lemon chicken soup a few days ago; one bowl left. Love that stuff and it is easy to make.

So thankful the power grid has held thru this cold. Now just have to remember that when my largest power bill ever arrives later this month.

Hope everyone is warm today where ever you are.

Just came across an interactive map web page of free camp sites. http://freecampsites.net

I also posted it under RV info so maybe easier to find later.

Took my dad to the doctor today about getting his feeding tube removed, but they want to get more tests done first.

My car was acting up today. Running really rough, so I checked the oil but that was fine. Then filled the gas tank and put an antifreeze additive in with the gas in case there was ice or frost in the gas lines. It did run a little better after but I think it may still be something else going on. Will have to bring it in on Friday to my mechanic to get it looked at.

Did a haircut on a neighbor of mine tonight, who was just diagnosed with brain cancer a few weeks ago and only has a few months left. :( She is very sweet and I feel bad for her but she has a good attitude about it.

Have a good night and keep warm!
