!st Saturday of 2014 and still cold in GA....

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Sat Jan 04, 2014 3:26 am

Good morning, all...Well, went to bed at 9:30pm and got up at 2:20am wide awake...Here I go again.... So, guess I'll be napping sometime today...

We had issues with the 12volt system for about a week and it took a crap yesterday....The Sultan (that's Ernie for the new gals here.) and our friend, Andy, took it apart thinking we had a converter issue....(wouldn't you know, since the 2 yr. manufacturer's warranty expired last June... ) but after 4 hours of tracking down things, it's a dying battery, so Andy put his camper's new battery in for temporary fix and the guys are going to go buy a new one for us today....we do have an extended warranty, but thank goodness we don't have to use it at this time.... ;) and can save it for something more expensive than a battery....

The forecast is calling for some sun and a little bit warmer today, around 55 to 60F for a high today, but the "chill" is coming back tomorrow or Monday....you all should have seen me, yesterday morning....had on the "Hello Kitty" pjs with my "Cotton Candy Pink" fuzzy fleece robe over them...out in the yard with Spinner for his morning potty run....good thing we're out in the country....

Okay, have the coffee ready and fussed for you all and made potato pancakes with Lingonberry jam....help yourself..... ;)

Have a safe & warm day, all...

Good Morning Lori and Everyone !! Lori, what is fussed coffee ??? I'm not really awake yet and this puzzled me  It's cold here in Fl too . To be much colder first of week . News had something about rain sometime today. I Didny pay attention, doesn't help, just accept what comes along and if you hear anything just hope they're wrong again :D

Anita and I, are planning to meet Kathleen, Irmi and Carolb later. We haven't really planned our day yet, but I'm sure it will be a good day, whatever the weather.

Instead of being on here I should be going through my mail I picked up at my sisters, catch my check book up and all that stuff that has to be done and no fun in it. Yesterday was payday though so that does brighten the project up some :D

My sister and DH are making a trip to MD, so I'm a little concerned with weather conditions up that way. Business trip so no way out. This weather every where is so bad, wondering if Sue got back home from her UP adventure.

Time for another cup of coffee and get the morning moving here. It's Saturday, hope you all have some fun plans included in and around whatever your weather is. Try very hard not to envy those Baja Babes, I know that's going to be hard
Have a great day, Stay Safe in what ever it brings,
CArol :)

Good Morning and yes it is chilly here in Ocala!!! Looking forward to a nice visit from forum ladies... I am leaving things closed up here until the cold front is past... I do not like the front closed as it is dark in here but better to be warm.
Having coffee and will have oatmeal later... need to get my eyes open...
Have a great day everyone... I know I will!

Colliemom checking in here,

Good Morning all, thought I had better check in before you all think I'm frozen in a snowbank somewhere. No CArol, I'm not home yet. I'm still in the U.P. The plan is to leave tomorrow and see if I can get home between the next storm which they are calling "Ion" and the cold blast that will be following me. Right now the Eastern U.P. is getting hit hard with wind and snow, so I'm not even thinking of leaving here and driving into that mess. Can't even see the Mackinac Bridge on the Weather cams this morning, even if I had planned on it. So will monitor weather today and see what happens. And like BarabarRose and the rest of us in the northern states, it has been brutally cold here. But I am dealing with it. Not looking forward to the next cold blast though as it promises worse.

I see a GTG is going to take place down in FL. You gals have fun. Won't be long before it will be time for the Hillsborough GTG. Time is flying as it always does.

Time to get dressed here and take Sassy out for her morning walk. Then see where the day goes. Hoping to get group picture of all of us here before I leave. Two of the TX ladies are flying out tomorrow morning and want a pic also. So suspect we will be posing for pics today although I noticed that one of the trucks is gone early, so don't know if maybe the guys went into work due to the cold coming or had something else to do. So we shall see.

Have a great day all. Will catch up on happenings later.

Good Morning,

CArol, I hadn't see the rain forecast yet! My very 'reliable' weather website says it won't be until this evening. We can only hope!! You may see that snow yet!!

Looking forward to today no matter the weather!!

May be an all day coffee day as I only got 4 hours of sleep - hate those nights!

Stay warm and safe!!

Thanks for the morning giggle    - Mornin' everyone! Nothing exciting planned today - major (?) warm-up to 20 today before the -9 arrives Monday. Only real plan today is to get out and shovel (again) because of the major snowdrift on the driveway that blew on last night.

Have a happy & safe day & stay warm because it seems almost everyone is experiencing some type of chill (well, except for those way way south).

good morning ladies
its a routine Saturday, finally, as I get back into the swing of preparing for "back to work on Monday". Even though my laundry is all
done up, I still need to strip the bed and do the linens. Will watch a little oldtime tv today, love the old Gunsmoke and Rifleman episodes
among others, Bonanza and Big Valley :D
Maggie is still sleeping but I suspect she'll be up soon wanting to go out so I best get some socks on and be ready. Breakfast of oatmeal
after we get that potty chore done. Ya'll have a great day, be safe and be warm. I'm loving our nice temps right now.

It's 40 here this morning and only got down to 34 last night. Can't complain when we compare our weather to the ones up North. I need to go to the feed store and get something to cover the orange tree that survived DH's "care". It's suppose to get down to 22 Monday night. I thought about replacing the 2 trees that died but the last time I planted some orange trees it got down to 17 so think I will wait until spring. Don't want to temp the weather gods.

Since several ladies did their colonoscopy lately I finally signed up for mine. I was on a 5 year schedule and have been hiding out for 3 years. The last one was in 2005. Thursday I had to drink the stuff and it wasn't too bad. Just had to add Miralax to gatoraid. The doctor removed 2 polyps and I have to call Wednesday to get the results on them. I have a family history of colon cancer so really should stay on schedule. Now I will probably be back on every 2 years. :(

I need some printer ink and hope Walmart has some so I don't have to go to Lafayette. DH wanted me to print a horse sale catalog. I tried to just print part of it but 10 pages of pictures printed. Grrrrrrrr I know he's not going to a horse sale and needs to quit dreaming.

I cleaned 2 Walmart bags of mail out of my car. Need to go through it to see if any bills are hiding out. I would hate to see how much it would be if I only got my mail every couple of months.

Stay warm everyone.

What am I, chopped chicken liver??? Warm here, too, 70 miles north of Lyn. Trying to get ready for stuff coming up and sister's daughter is visiting her sister a mile from here so will go over and visit. She's the one I used to party hardy with in Az. sigh. Miss those days! LOL!

Had the trip to Q planned, but Evie (pooker) can't leave when I had planned to, so it's back to the calendar to see what I can work out. She wants to go, so I'll make it happen. Kind of cloudy out this morning, hope it's as warm as yesterday. Shorts weather.

Have a good day all!

Am hopeful it will be a good morning and nothing else goes wrong this coming week with the life threatening cold here. Past couple of days like living in a soap opera.
Unsuccessful in getting new heating system installed/operational in one house; have shut water to house off and drained lines to extent possible. Outside faucet froze and popped off at another rental house yesterday; water everywhere. Got that temporarily repaired before dark.
Older niece was baby sitting a 5 year old yesterday. While she was preparing food, he put her little dog in clothes dryer and turned it on. Long afternoon/evening at emergency vet. After ice bath and lots of other expensive treatment thankfully vet says dog has about a 70 % chance of recovery.
We will be above freezing this afternoon and again early on Sunday with rain changing to sleet/snow as temps drop to near zero and stay below freezing until Thursday. With the unprecedented cold and its duration, utility company says it is unlikely they can meet demand even if there are no outages from the ice/snow. Heat strips (most common form of heat here) are not designed to operate in the forecast temps much less over long periods. Much of the south is simply not prepared to handle this.
Got to try to get to campground this afternoon. Will run engine a while and remove water and canned goods stored in Magic. Will leave her plugged in with electric heater going but removing the other stuff in case of power outage. Hate to do that because will have to reload it for trip later this month but better safe than having to clean up mess if it freezes inside.
For now very thankful I have a warm house, plenty of food and most of my bills paid. After trip to campground, Nicky and I plan to hunker down and wait for warmer weather.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!

GOOD COLD MORNING TO ALL!

Dpf, your picture recalled so many mornings back in the Adirondacks when I was having to scrape, shoevel, and try to get truck started for school! I truly don't miss those mornings! When I first got a remote-start key thingy, I was so escited to be able to aim it out of the bathroom window, start the car/truck, take my bath, get dressed, and then find a nice warm vehicle to get into!

Lori, you have surely had your share of repairs this year!

Rest in Peace, Phil Everly.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease they say is what killed him....and I am afraid that's how I will go, too. I grew up in households with very heavy smokers, breathing in second-hand smoke all my life until my separation. I also smoked myself for about 9 years to combat that feeling that I was asphyxiating on the second-hand smoke. I have not had a puff since New Year's Eve 2000, but I fear the damage is already done. I tended bar in a very smoky place as well on weekends while I was teaching. My breathing now is horrendous.

My 33-year-old General Electric furnace worked like a champ last night, keeping this house exactly where I wanted it at about 65 degrees. It always amazes me when I light it up that it still functions! I have only had to use it about twice since I've lived here from 2010 until now. I never use the air conditioning which is a part of the same appliance, but I tried it and that still works, too. Not sure what I am doing today except picking up my forwarded prescriptions at Publix, buying a new bic lighter as the new one I got has a kid-proof button on it that is also geezer-proof, (snarl!(: ) re-hang my picture that fell off the wall last week, paint the woodwork in the bathroom, and take the pups for a walk in the woods. Happy Saturday to all!

Good luck to anyone on the roads anywhere in the country today!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
