I love Starved Rock ... glad to see you get there and love the bald eagle pics.

I really like when you can see multiple eagles and get a sense that protecting them might be working....Especially when you see the young adults making their way through adolescence towards adulthood. Thanks for sharing.

Sheila - Staved Rock & Mathiesson SPs are off I-80 (exit 178). Both parks are about 5 minutes apart. Starved Rock is on the Illinois River, but tends to get crowded. Matthieson has canyon & waterfall (if it's been raining). Both have great trails, but Staved Rock is always more crowded especially in the fall for fall colors. Here are some more pics of the trails.

There is an eagle that hangs out by the lake here in the summer. He is always alone as far as I can tell.
One summer at my brother's cabin, my mom and I saw a pair of eagles teaching their young to dive for fish. One of the eaglets caught one and landed on the dock to eat it. That was really neat to watch (not the eating part , the catching part!)
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Congrats on the new grandbaby Sheila. Hope mommy & baby are happy & home (not sure how long they stay in the hospital with C-sections), but a great way to start the new year!
