Try putting distilled water in your batteries and hope they will hold out a little while longer. Batteries should probably be checked monthly. I used a big 30cc cattle syringe to put water in my batteries. I guess you could use a turkey baster but I didn't have one. Hope you can get your generator going. Those things sure can give you trouble if they sit around not being used.

When replacing batteries in a bank you need to replace them all. If you don't it can lead to reduced battery bank function and sort life for the new battery(s) in the system. Talk to your battery guy before you start replacing batteries. The weakest battery in the bank will determine how well the bank will function and can damage the newer batteries shorting their lives.

I know its expensive but I've had enough batteries replaced on semis to know it holds true. On my diesel I have to replace both engine batteries at the same time.

Do some research and talk to your battery guy before you start buying batteries. They do make sealed batteries that you don't have to add water to. Each design has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Ernie checks our batteries once a month....and uses distilled white vinegar if the fluid is low...seems to do the job...

Did you see the program on TV last night about the year's worst 911 calls? One guy broke into a home, and then as he always did when he broke into homes, he took a shower. As he was in the shower, he heard the front door open and the homeowners return home. He was afraid they might have a gun and shoot him, so he called 911 and told them he had broken into a house but was afraid the homeowners had a gun, so would they please come and rescue him.

The lady homeowner also called 911 from outside the home that a burglar was inside her home taking a shower. It took the 911 operator quite a while to figure out what was happening. The homeowner kept laughing even when the police came and arrested the wet and naked burglar.

That was funny but the woman that called and reported the drunk driver (which was herself). Then there was the woman that called in a food order and the officer kept saying "we are the police" and she kept trying to place her order.

did put distilled water in the batteries...took between the 4 of them 21/2 gals...yep they were low...but seem to be charging up which I delighted about ....I will remember now to check the batteries...and if I can will wait till this summer to get the batteries would like to go to 6 but that will depend upon if they can set it up so it will work..did know that I needed to get all new ones just didn't know why..thank you

Going that empty may have caused some damage to your batteries. I found one section pretty low last November, so now I carry a gallon of distilled water and check it every 3-4 months. I just use a paper cup to transfer water from the gallon, but it hasn't been very low since that time.

Distilled water is cheap--batteries are expensive!

Sheila, when I was living in my fifthwheel I had to check my batteries once a month, and there was always one cell that was low, not the
same one though. I did keep distilled water on hand and usually the dry cell would take a good full turkey baster and then some. I was told
the dry weather really sucked em dry

It is a good night for a campfire. 34 degrees and very little wind. Need to get out my new bottle of Carmel Baileys and make some cookies!

One more day of nice warm weather (relatively speaking) before the bottom really drops out here! For the next week, the highs will not get above ZERO and the windchills will be in the mid 30's BELOW zero! . Not looking forward to that! Yikes! I think I live in Siberia now! Need to put gas in my car tomorrow before the temps start to drop. With no garage, I need to keep the tank full with it so cold out.

My Nook was delivered today...almost. I wasn't home to sign for it, so will have to wait now until Monday to get it . My friend at work is so excited to show me how to use it and all the wonderful things I can do with it. (She knows how tech-challenged I am! ). I am glad to have a tutor!

Reading about the Baja Babes and seeing their Mexico beach photos, warms me up! (and makes me miss San Diego ). Glad they are having such a great time!

I will be on a Florida beach in a few weeks! Yay! I hope the weather is good while I am there, and for those of you who will be at the GTG there too. I remember the GTG 3 years ago in Ocala when it snowed! Don't need to see any of that stuff while down there!

It's still a little bright outside, but I'm so happy I just had to share. Went to Starved Rock SP (IL) today since it was 50* (bbbrrrr temps tomorrow). The bald eagles have started to arrive at their winter home on the Illinois river. I'm hoping to get back in January, when there are hundreds of them.

Keeping an eye out for dinner.
