I got married in the Carmel mission! Oct 7, 1967. I thought this would greatly please my new in-laws but they didnt come because Father in Law woudnt fly aftyer he got out of the service.

Sandi, loved this post - thank you! I was there in 2007 with a camera that needed fresh batteries and I didn't have any. That was the first time I thought to use the camera on my cell phone!

I, too, would love to visit all the California Missions - have only been to 3 (I think). The ones in San Antonio are on my list as well.

Mission San Juan Bautista was also the one of the filming locations for the Alfred Hitchcock movie "Vertigo."

It probably was, Sandi - if it had a room dedicated to Fr. Stan Rother in the back.
It was a beautiful!
The most beautiful thing about that church though was seeing a young Guatemalan priest walking up the aisle with a child in each hand stopping to greet each family sitting in the pews. One little guy ran up to him from behind - he turned, stooped down, greeting the child by name & hugged him before moving on....
What an example of love & compassion!! :D
