Wintery Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wintery Wednesday

Postby Irmi » Wed Dec 18, 2013 6:25 am

Good morning everyone!

Well, we only had a dusting of snow overnight, but lots of surrounding counties have delayed school openings, so they must have gotten more snow than we did. It's supposed to warm up into the 50's later this week. This has been an unusually cold fall and just not fun.

Yesterday I played for the residents where Dad now lives and everyone seemed to enjoy the music. It was a carol sing and I tried to find songs I thought everyone would know. The past couple days we've been topping off the seasonings in the pantry in the motorhome, the sugar and flour canisters are full and we're beginning to take things out of the pantry in the house and they're now living in the motorhome. The plan is to leave after I get out of church on Sunday to begin the trip south. We are both so looking forward to warmer temperatures and seeing all our friends again!

The coffee is ready but if you'd rather, we also have hot chocolate, with or without marshmallows, so help yourselves.

Good morning, Irmi, and all that follow...

Ran out of propane sometime during the night, but Ernie got up, changed out the tanks, and now it's nice a cozy in here now...it was 35F when he got up to take Spinner for his morning walk...I got to sleep until 7am...yeah, me.... ;) Temps are to warm up again starting tomorrow...

Finished up the gift buying for each other yesterday....now all that is left is some staples for Christmas dinner donation to the pot luck Christmas Day....

Okay, time to stop and get my coffee....

Have a safe and great day, all...

Good morning Lori, Irmi an all to follow. It is cold this AM, but will get up to the 70 today. We made it back home yesterday afternoon. I want to apologize to everyone in Florida that I did not get to see, meet or gtg. With the loss of my brother and subsequent cold I was just not in the meeting new people frame of mind. I really enjoyed Ft. Wilderness Campground and all the Christmas lights. I'm sure glad I did all the Xmas decorating here at the house before we left. It is hard to get in the mood right now. But all the lights and decor make it cherry! Huge stack of cards. I assumed they were all Christmas cards. I was caught off guard when I opened the first sympathy card. Then messages of sympathy, care and concern written in the Christmas cards. It is bittersweet. Messages of sympathy and Christmas joy. Thank you everyone for all your messages. I feel so empty and lost and they are a comfort. Now off to the tasks of unloading RED and the mountain of laundry. Every stay warm and safe. Aloha

Good Morning Irmi, Lori and all who stop by later. Irmi I'm so glad you will be headed south soon and out of the cold & snow. We have also been having an unusually cold, snowy fall here. Lori, you'll have to make Ernie a special breakfast for getting the heat back on last night. Red so glad you are home safe and so sorry for the sadness that surrounds you. ((((HUGS))))
I didn't sleep well last night and I'm blaming the full moon. My horoscope this morning said a new outfit would lift my spirits :) . Good thing my friend and I have already planned a shopping excursion for today. Guess I'd better get the dogs fed and my ready on.

Good morning all.
Sunny but cold here this morning. I have been up since 6:30 waiting on the furnace people to fix the fuel tank. Luckily the fix doesn't affect the working of the furnace. :D

Getting ready for my trip to Canada in a few days. I will be spending Christmas with family in Montreal. I am not looking forward to the cold but being with 3 greats (niece and nephews) will be special. After all Christmas is really for the children. I had a call from my brother yesterday that one of my sisters is in hospital so spending time with her will a good thing.

Y'all have a great day!

Good Morning !!! Sun is out, but still cold, not as cold as yesterday morning, warming up here. It doesn't help that my RV is setting in the shade. I have a lovely spot and can see the lake, so I'm very lucky.

For those of you who think of Fl as flat, I beg to differ with you !! Yesterday I walked to school to meet my grandchildren, they normally are picked up by their Dad who is a teacher. But he couldnt, so grandma walks UP. When I say up, I mean just that, it's only two blocks but every step is UP !!! I survived and downhill was a breeze  I've lived in Fl more of my life then not, and know there are hills but this almost tops them or maybe it's because I'm older and it looked steeper. I'm sure to have to do it again though  Actually it was another chance to do something fun with my Grands, they love walking. Mom takes them around the lake a lot. I haven't yet this year but vacation is next week.

Nothing much planned for today, more cards, load of laundry, all those exciting things we have to do at times :D

Carolb, hope the report from your aunts dr. Visit is good. Sue, loved the pic of your home, it a postcard picture, beautiful.!! As I've been there, loved seeing it. Wendy, whatever you decide about your future, PLEASE don't leave us !!!! You're a part of this group and were not letting go !!!

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and enjoy your day,

CArol :)

Morning All! Sunny but cold here, but not too unbearable really. Temps will be climbing this week, so will see the end of the snow. Unfortunately that also means mud on my floors whenever the dogs come in and out. If it ain't one think it's another! So looking forward to spring and getting the rig on the road!
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Good Morning while it still is! Another cold night here in Fl it was in the 50s inside so covered up and stayed in bed. Poor Shadow wondered what was going on! Have my little fire place on and sure love the warmth from the heater and the fake flames…
I sent my youngest granddaughter a gift card as no telling what they want at age 15…
I enjoyed the movie 'The Book Thief' we are so fortunate to not have had war on our homeland… if any are planning on seeing it do it!
Not much planned for today…
take care

Good morning ladies
Little cool and cloudy today, hope it warms up. Early release today for
all grades but next two days its early release for high school only. That
really screws up the day with another break in between runs. Looking
forward to the two weeks off.
Am glad I canceled my home internet, added an extra gb to my data
plan on the cell and now I can see I am saving $50 a month by doing
this.
Catch ya'll later, stay warm and be safe.

I have been hanging around all morning waiting on someone to come measure for the new flooring. No one has shown up or called. I just LOVE when they do that. There are 2 other places that sell the same tile in town if they don't want my business.

The kitten was still here for breakfast. It will come close to eat but doesn't want to be petted so it's not someone's pet. None of my neighbors have cats so wonder where it came from. I will have to call the place my DH takes his horse sometimes. It might have come home with him in the horse trailer.

Missed morning by a bit. Sunny but still cold here. In fact my feet are painfully cold and cannot seem to warm them up. When they are cold, I'm cold all over.
Irmi, glad you will be getting out soon - looks like I'll be about a month behind you getting to FL. Red, good to know you made it home safely.
Nothing exciting going on here - just mundane tasks. My break down and tackle the leaves again. I'll be so glad when leaf season is over so I don't have to worry about gutters and yard drains getting stopped up.
Wendy, don't give up. Things will get better.
Hope you are having a more interesting day.

Good Afternoon!

Glad to see you back here, Red! Obviously a lot of support and hugs!

Carolb, waiting for your report. Irmi, safe travels as you head our way!

CArol, thanks for your UP hill story! They have a mail room here so I walked up yesterday - a nice 10 minute walk. Picked up heavy box from my daughter, but then my outgoing mail wouldn't fit in their little box. So I hauled that box another 5 minutes uphill to the 'real' mailbox and then 15 minutes 'home'. My arms were talking!! Anyway, you had it worse than I did I think!

Wendy, you may not leave!

Well, the best laid plans.....The truck buying isn't going so well long distance so I will leave Florida about a month early. I have cancelled my reservation at Hillsborough for the GTG and rearranged my schedule for Blue Spring and Silver Spring so I'll still get to see both. I will be in Ocala Jan 3-4-5 and will leave for Arizona on the 6th.

I am missing the desert but not their current cool temps or that dang park. Didn't plan to go back there but will be most convenient until I get the truck situation taken care of - unless they don't have a spot for me!

We are "balmy" here at 32 degrees! Last day tho for the warmer weather, then back into the deep freeze for a week. The warmer temps are great except it really makes a mess of the roads and parking lots! Lots of slippery, sloppy brown sludge from snow, sand, and salt. I hope they do some more plowing before all that freezes!

My cold is almost gone now so I am feeling much better. I got a humidifier yesterday for my bedroom but it is tiny and I think too small since it still felt really dry in there this morning after running it all night. I think I will return it and get a bigger one. Anyone know if cool mist or warm mist is better? I really don't know what the difference is, if there is any.

Have a good day!

I've still got 30minutes of morning left here in Nevada! I have to say that all the recommendations for Valley of Fire were right on. This place is gorgeous! And the campground is nice too. Very big sites and the kind of gravel that does not track, which is really important. Found a site towards the valley and am getting both cell/internet service and satellite TV! Yea.

I have to say, however, that Willow Beach campground, along the Colorado River below the dam was also excellent, especially considering the full hookup price of $18 for us seniors. Love that federal discount.

Cloudy today, and a bit chilly, but am going to get my bike out and see if I can ride it all the way to the visitor center. It is downhill, so getting there will be easy, but getting back might be struggle for my electric motor since it can only manage slight grades. I think this one is slight enough.
