Oops, SoCalGalcas, not quite. I got back Friday fairly late because I had done some shopping. Hooked up the city water since I did not have much in my fresh water tank. Went inside, had dinner, took shower, went to bed.

Next morning, very early, I got a loud knock on my door. Turned out I had a leak of some sort and neighbors had turned off my city water. Big puddle under motorhome, so it was NOT leaking from connection. Looked at fresh water tank and it was FULL!! How did that happen? Anyway, went back to Camping World and they looked at it. They said the diaphragm was shot and when I hooked up city water it went through the diaphragm and directly into my tank. They did not take it apart, but could hear it. Problem was they did not have right pump and did not think they could get it because this one was backordered. Offered to replumb area and put larger pump in my storage bin instead of pass-through where it is currently located. I turned that down, since it is working OK for the meantime as long as I do not connect to city water.

So that night, I went online and did a search for that model. Voila! Guess who has it online? Camping World. So I called the online store to confirm (they had several at $86 and can second day air it to me) and asked why the store couldn't have gone online and ordered it. Lady said they could have. So what was going on here??? Something smells fishy. It was too late to call other RV shops, but I did find it at one service place in LV, and cost was $222.

So I am going to call Camping World online back and order one sent to me at a Fed-Ex store. Then I will try to find someone to install it. In the meantime, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this one will not completely die.

Judy,

The same thing happened to me about 6 weeks ago. I was plugged into city water at a CG. My neighbor knocked on my door and said I had water leaking from under my motorhome. After looking further, we noticed water coming out of where the fill is for the fresh water and yes, my sensor showed my fresh water tank full even though I had not put any water in it. I called Fleetwood and got permission to take it to Camping World, which I did. They ran water through the motorhome and supposedly checked everything and nothing happened there on their lot. No water went into the fresh water tank. Soooo, I drove back to the CG, turned the city water on and the next morning, the fresh water tank was full AGAIN and my neighbor informed me I had water underneath my motorhome again. I took it back to Camping World and they ran water through it again. Again...nothing happened in the lot....of course not, particularly when you want it to. I know they must have thought I filled the tank and forgot but I didn't. What is strange is it has not happened again......yet. I feel something stuck, a valve maybe.

Since I'm still under warranty, I sent the bill to Fleetwood hoping they would reimburse me since this should not have happened. Camping World charged me a hefty fee for checking out the system but I don't think they checked any valves, just ran water through it. Fleetwood refuses to pay anything because nothing was found to be wrong, according to Camping World. Well something WAS wrong and I'm wondering if it is the same thing that is wrong with yours, since we have the same motorhome. I wonder if others have had this problem with their fresh water tank filling up when hooked up to city water or is it just indicative to our particular model?

There should be a check valve (one way valve) to separate your freshwater tank from the city water connection. If it does not seal correctly you can backfill your fresh water tank. Do you use a pressure regulator on your city water connection. If the city water pressure is to high it might be pushing past the check valve. The regulator should be set at 45#. Many times city water pressure can be 60-100#.

http://bigdiscountrv.com/rv-water-system-diagram.htm here's a link to a basic RV water system. The check valve between the tank and the pump is the one I'd replace. The original ones are often plastic and wear out. Sometimes they get a piece of dirt in them and then they won't seal tight.

Hope that helps.

Yes, I have always used a pressure regulator. My fresh water system normally fills from a separate outlet on the other side of the vehicle. I have checked with Fleetwood and with another dealer who have confirmed a bad water pump diaphragm can do that. I also confirmed with Fleetwood the make and model of my specific pump. I am not sure if I have a check valve, but I would have thought they would have told me if I had. I am having another dealer check on prices for me. I can get the pump for around $100 online.

Sheila, sounds like you are in La Posa long term parking...?North or ?South. Did you know there is a nudest club camping way in the back of the South?
This will be my first time out there with just a porta potty so I may go into one of the long term lots to be able to dump more often. And, I have friends scattered all over the area so will be going in and out frequently.

The pump diaphragm can act as the check valve so it all might be part of your water pump. Sounds like you got your solution. :D

I think so. Big problem is that none of the three dealers I checked have an actual pump in stock, so once I get a price from the last one, will get them to order it. In meantime, pump is still working. (Where is an icon with fingers crossed?)

Frankly, an actual check valve makes a lot more sense than letting the diaphragm in your water pump do that.

Had a beautiful day today, actually got to put my sweatshirt away and be comfortable in long sleeves. Just now a rain storm just passed through here dumping a good amount of rain in about 10 minutes and went away. Then it circled around and came back. Guess my car
is getting a good washing. Sipping on a hot apple cider and being comfy in front of the heater. :D

Much warmer here today but campfire still feels good. Tomorrow may be only day I might shed sweatsuit and that won't be for long.
Thought I'd make it past holiday season without anything breaking ---silly me. Not catastrophic, but a bit expensive any time Plummer involved. There was serious leak at rental house; at least I didn't have to clean it up and all seems well now.

Got an e-mail from Linda (bikerchik). She is just finishing up at Amazon today in KY and heading south with her new beau :o towards Texas for the rest of the winter. Was hoping she would head to Florida so I could see her when I go down there in January, but not this year.

Spent the day being lazy and got pretty much nothing done  . I guess that's what days off are for, right? Once in awhile anyways.

I have been online however, trying to decide on an e-reader/tablet. I have been wanting a Nook Color (have to have color!) but since they don't make them anymore, I have been looking for a good used one on EBay. By the time I go to bid on one at the last minute (or seconds) the bids go up to around $75 or more. Target has the Nook HD 7" for $99 right now, so I am thinking that would be a better way to go but still more than I really can afford right now. So I have been back and forth on that all day...what to do, what to do? :?

Maybe I will just wait until after Christmas and the Color ones might be cheaper on EBay then. I really don't need all the bells and whistles but I do like the access to e-mail and of course, the color version is a must! I also read a lot at night, so the backlighting is a big plus too. I don't like using the book lights.

It would be nice to have one of these to take to Florida with me so I can leave my books and laptop at home.

Well, for now I will let out the fuzzies for playtime and get something to eat before heading to bed. Tomorrow I am meeting a cousin for breakfast and then going up north to another cousin's house for our annual Secret Pal get together on my mom's side. That is always fun!

on edit: Just bought a Nook Color on EBay for $60! Yay!

there is a phrase that has been flitting through my mind something from a song but fits the situation right now! Oh what was I thinking????? don't remember the rest of it but it fit's...thought for awhile today that I had the genny problem fixed then I turned it off cause I was going to town....oh what was I thinking? came home and went to start it and it's a no go...but while the guys were here mentioned that it seems like the batteries aren't charging up so they go looking Oh what was I thinking? as they are out of water...I had my son in law fill them this summer but wonder if we didn't fill all of the areas..then asked grandson to check to see how they were before I left ID oh what was I thinking? and I'm sure he didn't know to look in all of the sections (I didn't know it why would he?) so it is looking like batteries are going to be sooner than later truly was hoping that I could hold off and get them this summer and then I was going to go to 6 instead of 4 but can't afford 4 let a lone 6 and for some reason suppose to get all of them at one time can't get 4 now then add 2 more later don't understand that but that is what dh always said
right now I'm thinking of how easy it was to pull into the lot and hook up and not be a bother!!! oh what was I thinking ???
but do love the desert and when all my issues are issues in the past I'll be ok with it but right now oh what was I thinking????

Sheila, that is too bad about your batteries. Seems like it is always something...

That song is by Dierks Bentley.

I need to get a cover for my Nook but there are several different kinds. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences on what type works best? Do you get much use out of the ones that prop the Nook up on a table? Soft ones, hard ones, etc...? How about the stylus pens? Are they really necessary or useful?

I got a big bottle of Carmel Baileys for Christmas today. Yum! :D I will share...
