Wet Sunday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

My comment was tongue in cheek :D

No, not all millionaires, but it is definitely more expensive to live there on average. Especially near the ocean. Inland, there are more affordable areas. Lake Elsinore and Hemet are areas that are relatively affordable. I plan to go back there someday and I will not have a ton of money then either, so will probably have to head inland further than I was before, if I want a place of my own. I always say, "where there is a will, there is a way". :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Well, it's not morning, but I have to weigh in about the whole living in CA thing …

Maybe I'm not feeling very thick-skinned right now, but it's a bit irksome to hear people who haven't lived in CA for extended periods of time essentially slam a place that is home to several of us. CA has been the brunt of too many jabs, and it stings a bit.

Is CA expensive? That depends on how you look at it. As a teacher, my salary is close to double what my friends in TX (the only place I know other teachers, which is why I'm using it for comparison) made for the same number of years of teaching & with the same educational training. It's all relative. I can afford to live here -- and live comfortably -- because I have a job that can support me. I think you'll find in every single state people who complain that it's just too expensive to live where they do, probably due to the type of job (or lack thereof) they have and lifestyle choices they've made. California is no different.

Okay. Back to getting my shorts ready for school tomorrow. It's going to be in the 80s for the next few days before our next "cold snap" of mid-60s. ;)

I don't think any of us were slamming California. I love California. But it does have a higher cost of living. That doesn't mean if it was where I wanted to be, I wouldn't find a way to make it work - like my 3 summers in AK - and the high price of groceries, etc there. And, yes, you make more in CA also - but for those of us not moving to work, it's harder, because we'd be coming with the retirement incomes, etc from where we worked for way less money.

Don't take any of the comments to heart - California is a great place - And Barbie was one of the people commenting - and she intends to come back!

And, btw, I love WI - lived there many years. Do NOT recommend it for living for many reasons from taxes to the divorce laws if you're married - and no, I didn't intend to get divorced either lol.
