My Christmas Season home

Postby Colliemom » Tue Dec 10, 2013 10:37 am

Thought I would share some pictures of my "home away from home" where I spent last Christmas and will be spending this years. This is my apartment at Maple Ridge Resort, near Michigamme in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Although this year as compared to last is definitely in the deep freeze, just being able to sit in my cozy recliner and look out the window, makes it all worth it. That's Lake Michigamme out there, all frozen over for the winter.

This is not my usual apartment as I'm downstairs most of the time, but with the place being full of workers right now, I am in an upstairs unit that had a little renovation work done last year. This is the living room. The opening in the wall past the sofa was created to enter the bedroom from the living room area. The table in front of the window was put in for me, so I can do my sign craft work while I am here.

Image

This is the largest bedroom. It has a king size bed, but cause I am using my own blankets, one being a heated one, I only have queen size ones. More than enough for me.

The nice view from the bedroom looking out the front window

The bedroom also has another door going into a short hall way to the bathroom and the entrance hall. There is also another smaller bedroom with twin beds off that hallway. This is the bathroom.

The kitchen area taken from the living room

I now have my craft table set up and am starting on a little sign. And no I am not free hand tracing from that picture laying there. It's my template and has been traced on the board. I am now painting it in.

And as you know from my posts on Morning Coffee, there's a group of workers here from TX who bought along a big BBQ cooker. Her it is, down the slope from the building. It gets used on weekends when they are off work. They have a bit 4 wheel buggy that they are driving around here and down to it and back.

Image

So now you know about my little home away from home. Sorry I don't have a picture of the outside right now, but will take one next time I am out and take the camera with me. But I'll be posting more pictures as time goes on here.

Sue, you certainly are set up with all your stuff- just like home. Enjoy yourself and MERRY CHRISTMAS. Looks like you will have a white Christmas - very pretty but Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Was 62 in the house this AM and I am on the central coast of CA so it's cold here too but not snowy.

Hi Sue, this is my second post. Don't know what happened to the first. Thanks for showing us your holiday retreat in the UP. I can see why you like it so much. It is so much more fun to be with friends( old ones and the new Texas ones). Enjoy your stay. Peggy

Lovely, Sue. And I'd love a winter vacation like that. I think winter is the most beautiful season and you get to enjoy it there without the work that comes with it. That makes it perfect.
