Tuesday, the Terminator!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday, the Terminator!

Good morning all :)

Up early this a.m. like a child on Cmas morning--the exterminator comes today!!!! Cleaning is my specialty, but working around all the nasty bugs and critters has not ben fun!

Sounds like y'all survived the freezing weather. How fun for those of you to head on to Baja. Gonna be a great time, visiting Ava, Lyn on your way.
Barb, good suggestion on dry cat food, but if anyone could get aunt to do anything different, it'd be a miracle lol. Stubborn old coot, she is.:)

So y'all have a great day, safe travels always, and hope everyone is out of the deep freeze!

Good Morning Carol and all who will be getting up for breakfast soon. I'll offer breakfast cause I think Carol has cleaned out her Aunt's kitchen along with the rest of the house in preparation for the big bug out :D Is your Aunt be able to drive? If not who ever shops for her could maybe just forget to buy that food she is feeding the critters.

We aren't out of the deep freeze yet, it is 19 this morning and supposed to be 5 tomorrow AM. It has been getting above freezing the last couple of days and the sun has been out so our road is a bit more passable. Forecast though is for more freezing rain on Friday but after that...the forecast looks better.

Martha hope you can get out today, did you keep or exchange your new purse?

The house feels cold this morning, I don't know why but certain times of the day it we notice a chill in the air, usually early morning and around five in the evening. Haven't a clue why that is as I keep the temp setting the same. Compared to where Barbie, DPF and Sue are at I'm sure the weather here sounds warm. As fast as the days are passing though, I'll be wishing for some of this cold weather. I can't believe it is so close to Christmas!! I have only seen one thing I would like to put on my Christmas list but it is way too expensive. It is a silver locket that is hand made by a woman out west. It is in the shape of a book and it has very delicate cut outs with what I would call filigree, with a tiny bird on a nest. I need to give Santa some ideas or my stocking will be empty.

Safe travels to all on the roads. Hopefully those Baja bound will get to warm weather soon! Liz I hope your tire comes in today.

Good morning Carol, BJ & everyone that follows!

Carol,, I can so relate with everything you are going through with the caretaking of your aunt. I hope the exterminator has lots of luck today with killing the eggs and whatever laying around the house.

BJ, I hope you find something you'd like in your stocking, although the locket sounds beautiful!

The schools in our county are closed down for the day for the pending storm. Steve & I went into town early this morning and it started sleeting before we got back to the house, so it's probably a good thing to keep the school busses and kids off the roads. Washington DC has literally closed down for the day and government workers have been called to stay home. As the crow flies, we're not that far from DC.

I will continue following the blogs of those on the way to Baja and all the others that are on the road. Wherever you are, please be careful.

Sitting here in Carlsbad waiting for the fog to lift. Those temperatures in Tucson and Phoenix look so good for later in the week. I need to get down the road to visit the friendly Camping World and pick up a few needed parts.... :? But Mitch and I do have electric and internet and our books so here we are until the sky clears a bit. Maybe we can make it dowon the road to McDonalds for breakfast and wait it out there! :)

Good Morning !!! It's beautiful this morning, I love this park, wishing this morning on our walk we could stay longer, but we'll come back soon for a longer time. Tomorrow is my youngest granddaughter's birthday and party so Gran'ma has to be there.

Carolb, I shudder to think of the critters you are dealing with, when living down here I bought those 'roach motels and placed them under sicks in both bathroom and under kitchen sink. Don't remember but might have placed elsewhere too and never saw a roach after that. They come into where water pipes are. The dog we had at that time always had dry food in his dish, never saw roaches around his food, after the motels. Hate to admit before the motels I did in middle of the night.

Florida weather is nice most winters BUT it's well know for roaches, snakes, all bugs, and it's not recommended that you have a picnic to close to any of the rivers. This park I am in reminds me so much of the old Fl, all the huge old Oak trees, palmetto bushes everywhere, I'm so enjoying it. Trying not to think of the traffic hazards that are on all the many roads here. My GPS brought me out here on a lovely route, I enjoy all the back roads here in Fl., the only way to travel down here, especially as winter months progress.

Have set enough, much to do, have a good day all. Those on the road heed the weather warnings wherever you are and Stay Safe !!

Good Morning everyone,

A little late here this morning. Been busy. Made a good breakfast of pancakes and sausage followed by a bowl of strawberries. Still have some here for those of you just now getting up or wanting a late breakfast. Also have bread for toast, mixed fruit, oranges or oatmeal.

Still cold up in these parts and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Wind chills are the big factor with forecast calling for -25 wind chills and snow showers. Hazy sun out there right now. But I just bundle up and Sassy and I go about out business. Yes, BJ, your weather does sound warm to me. You mentioned having cool spots in the house in morning and evening. Due to the outside temps, wind etc. there's always cold air seeping in no matter what you do and in the morning and evening when you aren't as active and moving you notice it more. I have some problem at home as well. Here it is more pronounced due to the fact that this building was built back in the 50's and wasn't designed for year around use.

Had to laugh at Carol's remark about me being the only person who heads north rather than south in winter  Yep, just call me tough. Rate this winter is going, probably doesn't matter which direction one is going right now, with exception of FL and who knows how long that will last. I posted some pictures from my "home away from home" in General Talk this morning, so you can see why I head north rather than south.

Other than that, nothing doing today. Went to Marquette yesterday, about 30 miles east and did some shopping at Wal Mart and another craft store, plus stopped the the Blue Cross office and got the new insurance coverage all set now. Just need to pay bill for it later this month. Big drop for me with the new Healthcare law as far as premiums are concerned. Will only need it for 5 months and then be switching over to Medicare and a new supplemental insurance. Worry about that later.

Hope you all have a great day no matter where you are and your weather moderates. The Baja group's making progress and Carolb's aunt's house is going to "bug out" hopefully. Nasty things those critters, gives me the creeps.

It is 2* above zero here, an -11* windchill, with the sun shining. We are under a windchill warning for tonight tho, with windchills expected down to -35* !!!  Then tomorrow will start a slow warming trend.

Maybe the worst of winter will get done by the end of the year, and Jan and Feb will be nice and mild! We can only hope, right?

Have a good day and stay warm!

I'm up and waiting until it warms up to go out and do more exploring. Mornings have been barely over freezing, but the sun warms things up a little and there is not as much wind today.

My electric heater died last night, so I had to rely on my furnaces. It worries me about having enough propane, but I can get more here if I need to, and I have only two more nights here, so it will be OK. Unlike when I was frozen out of Yosemite, I only need heat during the night and early morning here.

I am beginning to notice more single women traveling in RVs lately--two in the past two weeks. So our numbers are increasing, but so many I meet tell about relatives and friends telling them they are nuts. I had that experience as well, but people do get used to your running away from home!

Finally got my new tire for the car. Decided to wait and leave Ft. Stockton early in the morning, aiming for Las Cruces, NM. Drove the RV to Flying J to fill up with propane and top off the gas so wouldn't have to do it in the freezing temps in the a.m. Found out no one in town has any propane. Good thing mine is still half full. There's another Flying J about half way on my route tomorrow, so it'll work out. It's cold front took everyone for surprise I guess.

Las Cruces! One of our favorite places, Liz. All well in Florida. Weather has been exceptional and above average, so even though it will drop, we will be way above the rest of the country. Hope all of u in the cold areas stay warm and cozy. Our 47th anniversary is coming up this Christmas Eve. Still not sure whether we will be staying here for the holidays or going for a short trip. We are "dog sitting " for a few days so that will keep us in Sarasota thru the 22nd. Ordered our new cushions for the dinette and 2 throws for the couch and am looking for new blinds/shades for the windows. tGM is busy planning for our spring/summer trip, so he is happy :D I'm keeping busy...tennis, bicycling, decorating, gym and lots of socializing. After our whirlwind spring/summer, it's sort of nice staying put. But of course, that never lasts...and we look forward to traveling again. Okay, this glass of wine needs to be refilled and my rambling needs to end! ...tGM must have read my mind..he just poured me another...what a sweetie. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the holidays. carold

Good Evening to all!

Although I rarely post any more, I try to read and get caught up now and then. I've been painting and tiling this FL house, along with biking in this beautiful weather we've had for the entire month I've been down here. I cannot believe my good luck with weather, especially when I read about what's been going on in most other parts of this entire United States.

I hope all who are heading to Baja can soon get south enough to be out of the snow, ice, and sleet. Other who are just marking time until they can head south, I hope you all stay warm and cozy by your fires. Fireworks are now going off at Disney, so I guess that means bedtime for me. Dinah hides in her hut inside here until the final booms, then we go out to pee before bed!

I made some English toffee candy tonight, and it actually came out yummy! The only problem is that it's so hard----I get afraid for my old teeth! It sure does taste good, however.

Happy Tuesday night to you all.

Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

I went to the eye doctor this afternoon and my sight is still foggy. They put me through the ringer. I have a freckle in one of my eyes and they just about blind me trying to take pictures of it. I have to go one once a year so they can watch it. I have no idea what it might do. The sight in that eye is actually a little better than the other one until they flash a bright light in it for 10 minutes.

The sun came out today but it was still cool. It's suppose to be warming back up next week. I don't mind wearing shorts for Christmas if it wants to get that warm.

Hope the Baja travelers find warm weather soon.

Soos, I have been wanting to try the toffee recipe that's going around on Facebook but I'm afraid I would eat the whole thing. Toffee is my favorite candy.
