Monday and a tad warmer

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday and a tad warmer

Postby Colliemom » Mon Dec 09, 2013 8:01 am

Good Morning everyone,

Gee, it's almost 8 a.m. and nobody's started coffee yet. Too cold to get out of bed perhaps? It's a tad bit warmer here if you want to call 11 warm, but it beats the below zero lows we have had this weekend, not that they aren't coming back again. We even had a light snow last night, about half inch of fluff. Sassy wanted to go out around 12:30 this morning, so I bundled up and out we went. Being on the upper level, she can't do the stairs without help, so I have to take her out. The sky was clear and a million stars were out. Beautiful.

So much bad weather across the country. I hope none of you are having major issues with it and are hundered down and riding out the latest storm. Saw on the weather channel that CA is worried about the orange crop. Reminds me of the years that it was FL who worried about it.

Haven't seen any of the TX bunch other than one I met at he owners on Friday night. Been too coldl and everybody's staying in, plus working during the days. I guess they will be staying here for Christmas as they will only have that day off. Company flew them home for a week at Thanksgiving, but not for Christmas. So don't know what's going to go on here, if anything. Did hear family maybe be coming up from TX. Some have never seen snow before. The BBQ smoker was going full blast yesterday afternoon.

Not sure what today will bring. Wanted to go to Marquette, but snow in forecast might not allow me. Sounds like winds kicking up again too. Shall see how it goes. Otherwise, will stay here and work on sign plaques etc. Even Sassy, who loves to be out in the cold, isn't liking this weather either.

Lori, loved that little RV that "pulled" in the campground. Really cute.

You all have a great day out there. Keep an eye on weather and be careful if you need to go out into it.

Tad warmer here too. Tina and Mitch arrived in Fort Stockton yesterday afternoon, and will continue on westward today. I will wait here for my new tire to arrive, hopefully tomorrow, and will get away by Wednesday morning. Expect Birdie to leave today, heading back to east/south Texas. Weather put a damper on the fun and travel plans.

I ended up putting the electric heater under the tank valves and finally got them thawed out to dump yesterday. All the bay doors thawed out. Propane is down to about half so will fill up at Flying J before leaving town. Retrieved my long extension cord from the big bay and will store it inside from now on in case this happens again.

Good Morning,

The weather every where else is quite a topic here in Florida! I feel for the people who have to leave here and go home. I think those of us staying are feeling very fortunate, but things can always change.

Lori, there are several of those inflatable RVs here in Fort Wilderness - along with any other inflatable you have ever seen!

Saturday night there was quite a golf cart parade - some were quite elaborate with their decorations.

Safe travels to all on the road and everyone stay warm!

Good Morning coffee is good… mild here today 68 outside heading for 80s…
My neighbor and his wife stopped by to check on me last night… have not moved around much… I told them I would pull out again today and get my breaks checked out… he said no he would be glad to check them out… that was very kind of him… we have friendly people here making sure you are ok…
Oh my the weather sounds treacherous in the north country… those up there please be careful…
Good to hear the westward wagons are heading west and south…
Take care what ever is on your agenda for the day…

Good Morning !!! Moving to CG For a couple of days today. Then back here Wednesday for grandaughters 9th birthday party. Nice thing about spending the winters down here, not only get to spend Christmas with youngest grands but both their birthdays too. Little one be 6, February 6th.

Realized December is flying by fast and I haven't even got started on my Christmas cards. It's one thing I enjoy so that's just another reason for CG stay. Hard to feel its even near Christmas here, wearing shorts instead of boots and scarves, gloves and wearing a red face from the cold. I need to enjoy that sometime again, on my bucket list ;)

In the meantime this is not the winter to do that, all of you who are north at all are having to deal with things you normally don't . It's not fun I'm sure BUT keep in mind, you will have great tales to tell around future campfires, if that helps get you through some of the situations out there. Wishing you all safe times, travels and warmth !!!

Other then moving, nothing much on my agenda for today. I'm not going far, just to St Pk nearby that I always spend a few days at each year. Mondays are good for getting in for a day or so.

Hope you all have a really good day !!! Sue sure doesn't sound boring up where you are. Bet it's Beautiful !!! Enjoy and keep us posted as to the activities and such, ;) :o Kathleen, glad to hear you don't have to get out in traffic to have brakes checked. Liz, sounds like you've had a learning experience, Sure hoping weather warms up soon for all those trying to get to warmer climates.

Stay safe everyone AND warm !!

Cold cold cold here, but not as cold as some of you guys! I remembered to leave the heater at 60 last nite instead of turning it off and I heard it come on a couple of times. Must have gotten really cold last nite for that to happen. Sun is shining and temps are headed up to the mid 60's by Thursday and then going back down to the mid-to high 50's. Been a while since we've had a winter this cold this early. Not liking it at all! :( Not much else going on here, just still trying to get stuff put away. Kissed a frog the other nite and he stayed a frog, so I said bye bye. He got a little huffy and I just laughed.

Have a great day everyone, travel safe and stay warm!

Good Morning All, Did you see the football game in Philadelphia yesterday?!?!?! Out here we all watched it just to see a blizzard!!! My grandson and his to be wife had all their plane reservations canceled this weekend. They were to fly to Florida through Dallas.
Carolb, I have been following the adventures of you and the rats with ick, shivers. Hope that situation gets cleared up very soon.
All this horrible storm weather has canceled the plans for the Baja Bunch to spend time with me in San Diego, but, I'm going to follow them where ever they go in So. Cal!!!!! I,m flexible.
Travel safely those of you on the road. lyn

Good morning everyone!

Here on the eastern shore of MD, we are thawing out from a snow/sleet/freezing rain system that hit us yesterday afternoon and evening. The tin roof we had put on the house is pretty but when the ice slides from one level of tin to the next lower level, it makes a crashing noise. In the middle of the night, we thought maybe someone hit our house but it was just the ice sliding around. There is another weather system staring us in the face tomorrow night into Wednesday. Needless to say, we are so ready to hit the road and get to our camp site in FL. But it won't be long now!

Still cold here too, thanks for the reminder CArol that this will soon be a memory talked about over a campfire. I want that campfire feeling now!
DH couldn't get his car turned on this morning. Key won't turn and steering wheel won't move. I called the Scion place and was told to put hand at 10 oclock position on steering wheel and pull while at the same time turning the key and that should unlock it. Humm he knew to try and get the steering wheel to turn but we hadn't heard to do both at the same time. I'm going to leave that to him when he gets back from the gym. He took my car  Our road is practically impossible to drive on, the city snow plow came by but I think he had the blade up. Yesterday a city council person stopped at the neighbors and asked if the street had been plowed as it was in the worst shape of any she had seen. She must have not been in town yet and seen the street leading to the hospital! Something must have gone amiss ...it's not like there wasn't plenty of warning about the storm.

Liz I hope your tire comes in on time so you can get back on the road, I bet Thistle is ready for a long walk! Kathleen so glad your neighbor is going to check your brakes for you.
Sharon I wondered at the remark you made the other day saying you were being taken out for dinner if that was a clue. :) unfortunately there are a lot more frogs than trout in the lake. Funny how if you are the one to say so long they get huffy.
Need to get busy, the sun came out and I can see the dust bunnies on the floor. Take care.

Deleted my comment about the Amazon site being temp closed, it was a different company. DH had said he wanted two items for Christmas and gave 'Santa" the links I thought both were on Amazon

Good morning
What a long cold, wet miserable weekend weather and it is not over yet. So wish it was my turn to head south. That nice warm FL weather may be gone before I can get there.
Have the heat cranked way up so can get house warm enough to wash my hair this morning. A hot shower may be the only thing that will get my feet warm. Shouldn't complain as it is no where near as bad here as it is in other parts of the country. I am remembering to be grateful that I do not have to go out.
Need to catch up on other posts.
Wishing everyone some warmer weather.

Sharon, you better be careful about kissing frogs you might get warts.

We are having a heat wave, it's all the way up to 50. It was only 39 last night. No sunshine in the forecast and more rain predicted. It rained most of the weekend and it's a mess here. DH couldn't stand it anymore and went to town.

Liz, hope your tire comes in. A couple of things I ordered are stuck in Illinois and haven't moved since Friday. My niece made a Christmas Boot for my grandson and need to get that in the mail or he won't get it before Christmas. If I can find my camera I'll take a picture of it.

Sue, you can bet the Texans will be BBQing no matter what the weather. If there were Cajans there they would have the propane burner out and be boiling or frying something. I would sure hate to have to work in that weather.

Martha

I have been 2 hours trying to get one photo from the camera to the computer to photobucket, froze up the apple computer, changed computers and finally got it loaded. I don't know how you all that post a lot of pictures get it done.

Good morning
Its still cold here too, but warming up and upcoming forecast says it will be upper
60's by the weekend. I'd be happier if it would hit the 70's but I'm happy enough that
its not freezing. Looking forward to seeing the Baja girls this weekend and also knowing
they can thaw out a little.

Beautiful Windy Weather From Melbourne FL

Postby DearMissMermaid » Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:12 pm

Life is goofy.

Arrived in Melbourne around mid November, had gorgeous Florida weather for about 24 hours, then frigid cold snap, then crazy winds, then rains. I thought well, what a hilarious welcome to Florida!

Now we've had lovely summerish days. Today is gorgeous and windy.

I must be a total weakling, I can't seem to pedal my bicycle upwind! I look like a cartoon, all this pedaling and no forward motion.
