Sunday...and The Top Secret Mission

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday...and The Top Secret Mission

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Sun Dec 08, 2013 6:12 am

This RV pulled in the other day with Reindeer and a "Joy Old Elf"....I think they are here on a "Spy" mission, checking on who's naughty or nice....

So this morning I'm going to behave myself as much as possible... ;)

Up early, again, today.....but as soon as it lightens up outside, I'll take Spinner for his morning walk, then lay down again to catch up on the last 2 hours of sleep..weird, cause I was up til 10:30pm watching college football games.... I should have slept at least until 6am, but NO, it was 3:30am....oh, well, will hopefully get back to normal sleep habits soon.....

Has been warm here for the last few days, but a couple of cooler days are on the way....but will say it's been nice.....

Well, coffee is on....toaster is ready for the English muffins on the counter...help yourselves...

Off to bed again, soon...I'll be back later....in the mean time, have a great Sunday, all...

Happy Sunday all. I need to head to bed soon, as I'm being taken out to dinner later, and would like to be up a couple hours before I eat. Probably will bring more home than I eat and have a later dinner at what's my normal time right now. If anything about me is normal right now :)

Had to scrape ice off my car before I could drive home. Brrrr ... was not expecting that to happen here. I was one of the few who had an ice scraper in my car - so the locals definitely weren't expecting it either. 8 more nights of work and my season here is over ... now, if I didn't have to include the days off, lol ... but it's coming soon!

Enjoy your day where ever you are, and stay warm!

Good morning Lori--Good night Beth--& good morning to all that follow :D

Love the Joll E RV! It looks bigger than my RT  Wow, what horrible weather everywhere--except here in FL, I guess. Tina, really going to head home? Warmer weather waiting for you in Baja! Wow, Beth, can you believe your work season is almost over?

I continue to clean, knowing my aunt will go nuts. She is beginning to return to her "normal" routine, which is to feed the neighborhood cats. I was hoping she'd forget about that, since it's the canned food that attracts the roaches. Fortunately she hasn't "remembered" to fill the bird feeders (which were over-filled to begin with), and per the exterminator, it's the sunflower seeds that are the biggest draw for rats. Yep, BJ, not spending much time inside, and only need to be out of the house for a few hours after they "bomb" & spray for the bugs. The rats will be caught in live traps, then taken away to be exterminated. Then they come a week later & spray again.

OH, good news is Ralph (POA neighbor) may have found someone to come live with her--a friend of the family who is a semi-retired RN. HOPE THAT WORKS! Got to get this place clean before she comes next Sunday to "check it out." Otherwise, she'll be running away as fast as she can!

So nice to hear about all the Cmas prep & events y'all are experiencing! Nothing much "Cmas-y" in this little neighborhood. Will take a drive into town some evening to see lighted houses.

Y'all have a great day, BE SAFE & warm if you're in the path of the ice/snow. Sue has got to be the only person I know who goes north for the winter  So Cal & AZ in the deep freeze too? Nice to be in FL 8-)

Carol, if your aunt insists on feeding the cats, couldn't she feed them dry food instead? That is much cheaper and won't attract the bugs so much. And for the birds, maybe a hanging suet feeder so the rats wouldn't be able to get at it and there would be nothing falling on the ground.

Supposed to get a few inches of snow here today and be a bit warmer. Already 2* above zero! All week will be a roller coaster of temps tho. Back and forth between subzero and near 20 above. Strange!

My cold is a little worse today. Gotta hit the Zicam again.

Hope you all have a great day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Morning ladies
thawing out here a little, suppose to get up into the 50's for most of the day. Should be able to turn the heater off for a few hours.
Got some stuff sorted out and packed, one trip to the donation box and a trip to the fifthwheel. Washed up all the old uniform shirts
and packed them in a bag to go back to work. I only need a weeks worth and we get 3 new ones a year. Will take them in and bless
the new drivers with some extras.
Seems like I didn't do much this weekend but looking at these bags, I know I did.
Off to get breakfast, bowl of oatmeal will taste mighty good.
Ya'll have a great day and drive safe.

Good Morning ahhh the sun is shining and it is going to be quite warm… it is in the 60s now… had a hard time sleeping so got up and sorted the drawer under the frog… have to find the lost things like batteries and my change jar… can live without them but it is maddening to say the least…
Carol it sounds like you are making good progress on the house… Lori that is the cutest little rv I have ever seen… is someone actually living in it?
Ava do you have a move in date set?
Tomorrow morning I have an appointment to have my brakes checked at Tr Am they went to the floor when I came back from Camping World…
Take care and smile this cold weather will pass soon enough…

Good Morning. 8* and snowing. But hey….the forecast says we’re supposed to get up to 33* by mid-week….might have to open the windows and air out the house while I sit on the patio and enjoy a canned refreshment! ;)

All my plans for yesterday were side tracked after I posted. Sean called and had been in minor car accident….he had rear ended a car at a stop sign because of icy streets. Thankfully no one was hurt. He ran into a Tahoe with a large hitch on the back so there wasn’t any damage to it but it certainly did a number on his car. The radiator has a hole in it and the front of the car looks like a crinkled up gum wrapper. The car had over 225,000 miles on it so there is no absolutely no sense in trying to repair it and he was planning to replace it anyway. The two of us spent a lot of time yesterday on the computer and phone looking for a different vehicle for him. He was hoping for a smaller crew cab pickup like a Ranger or S-10, but there just aren’t any available in his price range right now. We did find a 2004 Explorer with only 60,000 miles about 60 from Brookings and the dealer is willing to drive it over to him today so he can see it. Really proud of Sean that he isn’t going to graduate and put himself into a huge debt on a new vehicle.

During the search process Ashley showed up and had a couple pairs of jeans and t-shirts and a link on Pinterest as to how to convert them into maternity pants. So we gave that a whirl and they turned out great. So now she’s going to go to Goodwill and see if she can find a couple more pair of slacks to convert. Up until now she’s been trying to get by with her regular pants and a belly band but said it just wasn’t comfortable.

So it wasn’t until late afternoon until I was able to start on my own plans for the day. The tree is decorated, peanut butter balls are made but not dipped, sweaters are washed and blocked. Still have a few things to accomplish today…..have to make 3 dozen hoagie buns for my inmate Christmas party. Good one on that…one of the inmates informed me that he didn’t celebrate Christmas and it should just be a called a holiday appreciation party. I kindly (yes really) informed him that I was throwing a Christmas party and if he didn’t wish to participate I could send him back to the unit that afternoon and there would be no repercussions as to his job performance. :x He decided that a Christmas party was just fine.

Have a good day. Stay warm and safe.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good morning, everyone.

Cold here too (in KS) - expecting some sleet/snow today then warming up to 20's later on. :D Glad we're getting this on a weekend rather than a workday - can just stay in & stay warm.
Thinking about all of you who are in your rigs in this cold - feeling pretty spoiled having heat in the house & an attached garage so even the car is out of the elements. Hope it clears out soon so you can move on to wherever you're headed & be warm for the duration of the winter.

Our org now has a new Pres/CEO after the passing of my uncle. Actually the chair of the board took the position. While its good to have fresh eyes , I know we're going to have some interesting times in the days/months ahead. The day before he started I was told he was getting an iPad, I knew we were in for some fun times. (We're have a Windows environment& have limited knowledge/experience with Macs interacting with it) Maybe the call of retirement will get louder now.

Carolb, hope someone to live with your aunt works out. Your presence & help has been a gift (as it is to many of us), but I hope you get to catch up with the others having fun in FL.
Lori, love that little Elf -RV... Reminded me that I have a little RV ornament - may prompt me to put up a tree - just so I can hang it up. :D
Beth, looks like you get to head to Baja with the others soon.
Baja group - stay warm & safe journey - hope you get to move on to warmer sites soon.
Take care,
Catherine

Wind at least is calmed down. Good news: found my spare keys and "broken" water pump has decided to work so I had water overnight. Had to unhook and drain outside water hose so it would not freeze.
Will still get it cleaned out and checked in Las Vegas because last time I tried to use it would not prime even after two hours

Sunny today so will be inside getting some work done.
