Friday Starts Another Weekend

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday Starts Another Weekend

Postby linann » Fri Dec 06, 2013 7:53 am

Yea, it's Friday again! Can't believe I'm the first one here this morning. Sue and Lori, where are you two? The third load of laundry is in and I just finished my packing list. Will be leaving for New Smyrna Beach around noon to meet up with my monthly camping buddies for our annual Christmas camping weekend. Tomorrow, we have a catered holiday lunch planned and will head into town for the Christmas parade followed by the evening boat parade. Got to find my holiday T-shirts, this being the Christmas rally, and I am supposed to bring Christmas cookies.

DS is staying home because she is in the midst of holiday performances. She plays in two orchestras and is very busy right now. Last Tuesday's dress rehearsal was impressive and got me into the holiday spirit. A choir is in two Christmas trees that are 5 stories tall, with performers on the stage between the trees and the orchestra. It really was impressive with an incredible light display synchronized to the music. I love the holidays anyway, but it definitely jump started my holiday spirit.

Right now it is warm, so I am hoping for another quick spell of cooler weather. I hope everyone enjoys this weekend and the season. Christmas will be here in just over two weeks, then it will be New Year's. Amazing how quickly this year is passing!

Good Morning !!! Not sure about Lori, Liann, but Sue is probably driving North to the UP. Safe travels, Sue, hope the roads are ok, and the Bridge.

Almost too warm down here, guess I can't be happy, either freezing or sweating, neither are comfortable :o Maggie, has been attacked by the fleas down here, only takes one to infect her she is allergic to them. We have a vet visit each year it seems.

I enjoyed "Sound of Music" last night, but the late hour after the day I had yesterday, feeling lack of sleep this morning. A busy day ahead, taking my time starting it :D

Enjoy your day, those who are in the cold areas, stay warm!! On the road , stay safe, and whatever you do have some fun today !!

Good morning Linn, CArol & all to follow :D

Sending out a search party for Lori & Sue

Well, I guess Soos kinda explained why I often "forget" to post  After I browse through "unread" to see/respond to what I think are more "important" posts (new members especially), I'm worn out & log off, always thinking "DANG, forgot to go back to MC!" Then too lazy to get back on

The situation here is a mess. Aunt indeed has asphasia, yes, Soos. The home care nurse has ordered speech therapy--who knows what that will do for a 94yo woman. But my biggest concern has been all the unwanted critters living here. Days ago, the poopers & I heard scampering in the duct work, so besides the battle with roaches, we just had to eschew aunt's generous hospitality of offering us a room. Fortunately, I have a door out my bedroom, so she doesn't know that we sneak out at bedtime to retire to my safe HarBor! Bottom line, exterminator was here to inspect & coming back on Tues to treat entire house for roaches, spiders, & roof RATS! UGH!!! Fortunately, the screened porch where poops & I spend most of the day is considerably bug-free.

Sorry for the unappetizing breakfast conversation  Hope y'all have a great day & be safe always--did everyone survive the ice/snow storms????

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

It's another sunny, warm morning, and promises to be good swimming weather by this afternoon. I have been making small but steady improvements in this house this week. Yesterday I hung a wall/hanging/painting in the living room, and painted the ancient bathroom vanity a pretty maroon color I had Lowes mix for me and then fix as the first mixing was much too whore-house pinky for me! (Not that I've ever been inside such a brothel!) I love it now! The next step for that bathroom is to find a nice paint for the walls and then find some vinyl tile that will go with all.

I got my new TracFone yesterday via Fed Ex, spent over an hour trying to fit the battery cover on it (YES----over an hour and with very sore thumbs and fingers today!) without breaking something. When I was ready to take a sledge hammer to it, or put it into a vice of some sort, I called TracFone for instructions. It was supposed to slide on, and the cover they sent with this phone was the wrong one! So off it goes into the mail and a totally different phone is on the way. (Another 3-5 day wait) In the meantime, my old phone, which I have been drying in rice, on my truck dash with blower on full, under lamps, etc. is now working! If this next phone doesn't work or go together properly, I will tell them to shove all their new ones and will keep this old one!

My Sea World season's pass is now over, and I don't have the cash to get me a new one, even if I thought I would use it enough to warrant buying it. I got a senior citizen one last year, which was about 50 or 60 bucks cheaper than what they are offering this year. Oh well......

Today will be to pump up my bike tires and take a tour of the neighborhood to see what's going on, followed by some swimming this afternoon. I am also going to finish making the turkey soup I started yesterday.

As I saw the original play sung by Mary Martin, and then the movie with Julie Andrews, I passed on the Sound of Music last night and found a long pre-recorded show, Live in Central Park, starring my favorite opera singer, Andrea Bocelli. He was magnificent! I absolutely love his voice! I was also very pleased to see that he had lost weight and was no longer the typical overweight tenor singer of opera----he looks very fit and handsome! He also did an hour's worth of modern songs and music he has made famous along with the famous opera selections. A most enjoyable evening for me.

The ice storm is ravaging the Midwest and so many people are now without power. Please, please stay put if you are in the path of this killer storm, and hunker down and stay warm. If you use a generator for power, make sure you ventilate the exhaust properly. (I know, I know-----this group has smarts enough to know how to use generators, but I can't help myself!)

I hope you all have a safe Friday and good weekend to come.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning,

Carolb, yuck! That said, I came home from Epcot last night to find the camper crawling with ants - inside and out! Not pleased but have plenty of ant bait with me. Will stop up at the office later and request they tackle the situation as well.

Woke up way too early this morning - 6 something so have had coffee, started one load of laundry and made one phone call. Scheduled an appointment next month to have See Level tank monitor system installed - goes on the outside of the tanks. The board for my system quit months ago and not being able to monitor fresh and gray is a pain.

Leroy made our new reservations for polar bear tour next November so I have October open. Thinking maybe I'll do the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.

Time to tend to laundry.

Everyone stay warm! So glad it has been somewhat cooler here.

Good Morning… repair day at Camping World… they will replace my toilet and then I can have water hooked up when I get back… I think this Camping World is in Summerfield…
Oh critters and I do not get along… stayed with a lady and her family while going to Tampa Tech and there was a hole in the closet those mice or maybe rats came in and out all night… I tried putting a flash light down pointed at their hole and it did no good… very unsettling I agree with your sleeping in your little home sweet home…
Oh I did enjoy the Sound of Music last night… I am a sucker for all is well with the world… now reality sets in…
Molly and I went shopping yesterday… it was a very productive day… we also stopped at an outdoor market that has so many craft items… now if I had the money and room I would be full of cute things… I did get a jar of strawberry vanilla Jam… will try that another day…
My grandson Pete called last evening… I guess my words have gotten home that I would want a family member to buy my MH as it is so nice and at least I could see it once in a while…
Take care everyone and sing all day…

Good Morning, From Snowy Southern Illinois. It can stop anytime now. The little girls across the street were out by eight o'clock enjoying the snow, so fun to watch from inside. The dogs don't seem to mind it and thankfully it isn't the kind that sticks to their fur. DH bought Winnie a little coat yesterday but it didn't fit, he said they didn't have a short-portly size.
Carolb I'd do the same, stay out of the house as much as possible, especially after the exterminators come!

Last Sunday we enjoyed lunch and a hard cider drink while sitting outdoors at a nearby winery.

Image

After the sleet yesterday, we woke up this morning to a lot of snow, and more coming down...they say 10 inches but looks like we may have that already.

Image

To those in warmer places, enjoy!

Good morning ladies
So its the coldest morning for us since 11 months ago, 31 when I left for work and
of all things....fate decided I was to wear my coffee instead of drink it. Didn't look
very tidy on my white hoodie but thankfully I had my navy blue one in the backseat.
It's lighter weight so not as warm but its clean. We'll get through this day and all will
be fine. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Good morning. My RV is shrouded in ice this morning, and it is not going to melt today. Also my Honda Fit has a flat tire (cactus thorn punctures). It is an unusual size and no one in Fort Stockton has one. A local tire dealer called his biggest supplier and one was located 90 miles away, but no deliveries here until Tuesday. So I guess I'll be hunkered down here trying to keep warm until probably Wednesday. Birdie is thinking of returning home from here....no sense in her going further west in this weather, so I'll continue on alone when the tire gets fixed, unless Tina and Mitch catch up by then. Don't come too soon though...it's still icy here and worse further west in the mountains.

I seem to follow the cold weather. Got froze out of Yosemite, and am now in a very cold Death Valley. Beautifully sunny, however, and I have a great view from the campground. Also, since my water pump is not scheduled for repair until the 13th, I have to use full hookups, which means I have to unhook and drain my water hose at night. I have been using jugs of water to flush and wash. Low last night was 25 and high today is supposed to be a whopping 44!!!

Two days ago I cooked up a package of sausage and made a bunch of blueberry pancakes. I ate some of each and froze up little packets, so breakfast today is blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup and sausage.

Have a little work to do and then am going to get my bike out and ride over to the visitor center to look around more and listen to a ranger talk or two. Nice that they have several ranger talks every day. Tomorrow, I will unhook and drive to Scotty's castle.

The gumbo weather is getting here. Our temperature is steadily dropping but won't get as cold as everyone North and West of here. At least I hope it doesn't freeze again. I made a big pot of gumbo last night. When we had some for lunch it seemed like something was missing. I finally realized I didn't make any potato salad. We usually eat potato salad with gumbo.

I need to go get Hanks bed and wash it. He won't leave it in his house. He tears them up about as fast as I buy them. I ordered a washable horse saddle pad for him. We'll see if he can tear that up.

I didn't go to the Christmas Stroll last night. It was just starting when I came back from Lafayette but I wasn't going to hike all over town even if they were giving away cookies. They give you a map with all the stores participating and if you get every store to stamp your map you can put it in a barrel for a chance to win some prize. The prize usually isn't worth all the work. We use to get a group to go together and that was more fun.

My morning didn't start out too well...it was -10 below so I got all bundled up and headed out the door early. Then my car door was froze shut (we had rain and then snow the other day). Took a lot of yanking and kicking at it to finally get it open. Discovered the insides of my windows were frosted over as well as the outsides, so started the Jeep and turned on the defrosters. Grabbed my scraper and got back outside. Then I heard the dreaded "click". All the doors locked! I forgot that when the key is in the ignition, the doors lock automatically after about 15 seconds. Luckily, I remembered I had a hidden key box under my car, so I found that. Wouldn't you know, that was frozen shut. Had to knock on a patio window to get someone to help me. The guy took a monkey wrench to it and got it opened for me. So back to the Jeep. Got in and had to scrape the frost off the windows with a credit card (scrapers don't work on the inside very well). Got back out to chop ice off my wiper blades (broke one) and inside the door jams where it had built up. Finally got to work a half hour later (I live 5 minutes from work  ). Good thing I headed out early! I sure miss having a garage!

It got all the way up to zero today! But the sun was out and there was no wind so it was tolerable. Not too busy at work today tho.

Sounds like everyone is dealing with cold, wet weather all over (except Florida). Those of you in the icey places, be very careful, both in and out of your rigs!

Martha, up in the Midwest, it is "chili" weather! Stopped at the store and picked up stuff to make a batch of chili for the weekend.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Well, my cold weather saga involves a hair dryer and frozen dump valves. I was in Fredericksburg, tx and made it home to Kingsland, tx this afternoon. Winterized the rig and don't plan to use it again until I'm safe from a repeat of today. I've had enough of winter and am ready for spring! Everybody stay warm.
