Great pics Liz - thanks for taking me along. Love that you stop for all wildlife crossing - even the creepy kind. :D

Thanks Liz for another great blog post. When I was there the last time I bought the book about volcanos and drove around looking and reading about them all! I was amazed at how the geologist could tell me when they blew?!?!?! lyn

Cool trip on the river! How deep was the river where you were? It did look like it went downhill!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Amazing photos Liz, thanks for sharing.

People ranched in this area?!?

This is amazing. In a previous life I kept a few head of cattle, along with goats and chickens, so I have a bit of an idea of what is required to keep livestock going. But here? It must have been really touch-and-go, true subsistance farming. It is small wonder that the ranchers have gone.

Interesting too, about the volcanic features of the area. Tuff canyon, especially. Tuff is volcanic ejecta.

People often ask me why I am interested in volcanoes, and how I find them. In truth, volcanoes (and the remains of them) are pretty much everywhere, if one knows what to look for.

Thanks again!
