Thursday Morning and Getting Colder

Good Morning everyone,

Gosh, Lori must be sleeping in this morning. Well, about all I can offer for breakfast here is oatmeal and what's left of the orange juice and strawberries. Cleaning out the fridge etc, before I leave in the morning, so pickings are a bit slim here.

And thanks to you ladies to live to the west of me, I know what my weather is going to be starting today. Temps already starting to drop. BarbaraRose, you aren't going to be the only one with a car outside in this cold weather. I won't have a garage up there for mine for the next month either. I'm sure if it could talk, it would be pining for it's garage, not that it's heated but at least it's shelter. Fortunately though, I don't have to worry about heading off to work in the a.m. though. And sounds like cold is the word for just about everybody.

Anita, glad to hear you are enjoying Disney. Sounds like Red is too.

Fairly busy day planned here today, but not a rush type. Head to store first thing this morning for last minute stuff, then home to clean house a bit and do a load of wash. All packed except the last minute stuff. Plan to leave in morning as weather looks like I can squeeze out of here. Just have to watch weather around the Mackinac Bridge area.

So, with that I am going to bid you all a wonderful day. Will talk to you all when I get settled in my home away from home this weekend.

I'm only a little behind you this morning, Sue, but Spinner insisted on a longer walk this AM.....glad you started the Morning for us....

Speaking of Spinner, he gets to go to Doggy Day Care & Spa today for a bath, nails trimmed, and to visit with his friends there....So while he's there, we're going to go check out Fernadina Beach and have lunch somewhere....

Just coffee and some breakfast bars here today....but help yourselves...

Good morning Sue, Lori & all to follow

It wasn't til late last night that I realized I missed yesterday! Crazy here! Anita & Red, wish I could be there--what fun! but...

... Aunt was released from hosp yesterday. Kinda boggles my mind, since her mind is not really all there. But physically, she's fine so they couldn't keep her longer, nor did they have "reason" to send her to rehab--guess they can't "rehab" a brain! So my "job" is to observe to see if she can indeed live alone. She has a non-stop headache & is miserable that way, plus she can "see" her thoughts, but can't get the right words out which causes her much frustration. Home care nurse comes today. Exterminator also will be here the beginning of next week, thank gawd!

Looks like this is my calling! I've been a "care-giver" almost all my life, & now in my "freedom," I still have opportunity to be one....Makes me feel like I'm contributing to society, since most of my life has been a life of "freedom"--no children, single most of my adult life, no responsibility other than cats & dogs

Good Morning Sue and Lori and of course Spinner… I had a good nights sleep for a change… woke up rested at 6:30… Shadow does his quick thing in the grass outside and I take him later to the poo field…
My last experience at a beauty school was a disaster. I had my granddaughter Meenna with me then… We were getting ready for my granddaughter Ameera and Mike's wedding reception. I thought I would get an eyebrow wax… it went fine and looked nice until a few days later I got the burn coming from inside out… well it was awful needless to say… I went back to the school so the girls could see what happens when you do not check what medication a person is on… after that they posted medications that would prevent them from doing certain procedures… I only get a hair cut now… my gray hair has enough body to look nice most of the time…
Oh Sue you will have a great time in the north country… it will be lovely I am sure…
Tomorrow afternoon I am going to Camping World to get my new toilet… I bought this one and they could not install it so I got it installed at the park I was staying at… it was so tall and the many at Camping World measured it… well all is finished with my beautiful porcelain toilet… when the water froze it froze something inside of the bowl and it leaks water in the bowl… have been living out of gallons of water every since I left home…
Sounds like Spinner will have a great spa day…

Good Morning, What a difference a day makes!! Yesterday it was 72 and this morning It is 34, cloudy and the rain has started but still above freezing so hopefully I can get out and do a few more things this morning. I had to smile as I read the posts from the south to the north. Sue is excited about going to the even colder UP and Lori is taking Spinner to the spa. I'm dreading the cold and snow while my friend here is excited because she didn't get to try out her new sleigh last year and this year she also has bells to go on the pony's harness. Guess it is like they say, all in ones perspective.
Carol I hope your Aunt starts to feel better. I'm sure she is thankful for your presence even if she can't tell you right now.
Toby says it is time for breakfast, that dog has the best clock, he lets me know when it's time to eat, and when it is time for us to go for our afternoon coffee outing.

Good morning from frigid MN! It is 2 degrees above zero! And it is all downhill from here thru next week, not getting above zero for the next week or so!

I was supposed to take my dad to the doctor this morning but the roads are solid ice all over, so he cancelled the appointment until next week. So I will just stay home and do a little cleaning, reading, napping, etc.

Sounds like Spinner has a great day ahead of him! I would love to have a spa day!

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

I am sorry about missing so many posts on here, but I never seem to have the time to get caught up. I know that Red and Anita are both down here just blocks (almost) from where this house is, and yet I don't know how to meet up with them?? I just got my property tax bill check mailed out this morning, so now my funds will be almost nil until my Social Security check comes in two more weeks. But I really feel GOOD about getting that bill paid for one more year!

Carol, so sorry to hear about your aunt, and I can imagine how frustrating it is for her to have aphasia----the inability to say what one wishes to say. How lucky for her that you are able to be there with her until you determine if she can continue to live alone. At this point, I can't really do anything anyway, like camp anywhere other than my son's, until I get some more money to live on!

Kath, so sorry to hear about your toilet, too. I guess that freeze did more damage than anyone first thought it did.

Sounds as if Spinner is getting rather spoiled this winter! I wish I could be more dependable about writing, but it just seems so much easier to read Facebook these days and make small comments rather than trying to get in here, click on a dozen things, and enter a post. I guess I am just getting much lazier as I put on those years! But entering pictures is a thousand times easier on Facebook.....not that I have entered any lately, but I may.

I hope you all in the path of that ice storm are prepared for no power for perhaps a long time. I remember how long it took us to get back to the grid in 1996 when we had our ice storm in the Adirondacks. The weather down here in Orlando is fantastic right now----could not ask for any nicer temps and sunshine!

Good Morning,

Another beautiful day. Once I got my act together yesterday, I met Red and hubby for lunch. They rented a golf cart so we went around looking at decorations; Red and I went for drink; after dinner we went to see lighted decorations. Red and I went to the marina to see the 'boat' parade. Amazingly enough, they don't tell you about all these things happening - at least not in the packet they give you when you check in. Things sure have changed here in that regard.

We talk about how grateful we are for the weather compared to most of the rest of you. Sue, safe travels and enjoy!

Red if off to Epcot and slow starter me will catch up with her later. I just talked with her and she is preparing the eulogy for her brother's funeral.

Good Morning to All - from cool and rainy San Carlos, Mexico - yep weather here has taken a turn too. Had rain all night last night and supposed to drizzle most of the day today so guess we'll be here another day. No sense driving on wet roads if we don't have to. For the next week it is supposed to be lots cooler here with highs only in mid 60s then a warm up by the last of the week - back into the 80s. At home I see it is going to be a high of 16 and low of 02 so guess I shouldn't complain.
We came here for a couple of days and have stayed two weeks - fun way to travel.
Keep warm everyone and drive safe.

-13 this morning. Kitchen water froze, fridge died, and I'll probably burn through a 40lb propane tank today, but other than that, all is well. Really glad I don't have to work outside today. I felt bad for our snowplow guys yesterday, plowing with the open cab tractor.

Been a long week of seemingly endless appointments this week - niece and my own year end medical stuff. Niece's case will be presented to a cancer review board next week and the surgery to put in port for chemo is scheduled for next Thursday.
I spent 3 hours in dentist chair yesterday having an infected tooth removed. Later today I go in for my cancer screening lab work; results next week. Good news is we are getting closer to the light at end of this tunnel.
Like much of the country, our warm spell is about to come to a screeching halt. Heavy rain moving in followed by frigid temps. It has been so nice to have my coffee on the porch past few mornings so I did get to enjoy some of it.
I made it passed Black Friday and Cyber Monday without buying anything. However I did take advantage of sale on Tuesday to buy a sleeping bag for Magic.
Try to stay safe, warm and dry out there.

Really cold here in SoCal and gonna be that way for a while. I'm already tired of the cold weather and it's only been 2 days! Got the news last nite that a distant family member passed over. An in-law aunt that I haven't seen since I was young, but her BIL is one of my favorite uncles...and he's an in-law too, married to my dads sister. Confusing, I know, but anyway Aunt Phyliss was always good to me and I really loved her and had fun with her kids. And then I got word that my former supervisor and good friend has cancer. I'm ready to just sleep thru December and hope that things are better in January..other than the fact that some of my favorite peoples may be in the area soon. Can't sleep thru that!!

Have an appt. tomorrow for a haircut and then a make over at Macys...doubt if they can do much with me but it;s fun trying!

Like Sharon, I'm not a fan of this cold snap - but feel so lucky in comparison to what I could be in. So, so glad to not be dealing with the MN/WI/IL winters anymore. But love the pictures.
