Any teardroppers?

Postby TABaker » Sat Nov 30, 2013 10:48 pm

Hey, gals! I thought this might be a fun place to hang out from time to time. I'm Crystal, turned 51 this month, and my husband and I are the parents of 3 children: 24, 23, and 21. We live in southern IL, and can be in Indiana or Kentucky within an hour, and in St. Louis in 2 hours.

I grew up camping with my mom in her various trailers. Dad wasn't much of a camper. His thing was racing, as he owned an Offenhauser Midget. Hubby camps with me from time to time, but about 60% of the time it's just me. Our middle child loves to camp, but doesn't live near us. She and I went to the east coast last year. Our oldest, a son, camps as well. The youngest not so much. lol I am a member of Sisters on the Fly, and attend about 3 or 4 events a year with them. They're a hoot.

I began camping in a small Shasta, then a larger Shasta with a full back bath, and twin beds, and then as our kids were growing we were in a 28' Holiday Alumalite MH. I'm having a ton of fun in my little T@B "standie" teardrop. I've had Daisy for four summers and have taken two 2-week trips. I long to head south or west for extended stays, but until I retire that's not possible. I do plan to spend vacation days in bulk in a couple of years in order to spend a month in FL in January. We take a big family group vacation to Destin every July currently.

I hate not getting out in my little trailer through the winter (although I try to go at least once monthly if we get a bout of nice weather). I am currently getting her ready of our little town's night Christmas parade. I entered two years ago and won 1st in my category :) We're Green Bay Packer fans, and I'm a finalist in the "Coolest Packer Wheels" and are awaiting the announcement of the winner! Daisy has a Packers theme during football season. We took her up there last month for some serious tailgating!

I'll try to read the forum and find out what ya'll have been up to!

Welcome! Cute little set-up you have there! Does that have a bathroom in it? Do you have any pets? Would love to hear about your adventures on the road!

I am in Minnesota, but don't have an RV yet... :(
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

My T@B doesn't have a bathroom, but they make a model that does. I am happy for now with my Luggable Loo. If I get the chance to camp the winter months elsewhere I will get a trailer with a bathroom and larger fridge.

Ava, I love Pucks! They have the best layout!

IrishIroamed: Daisy drove bravely and proudly through Bear country twice in her life. I'm such a proud momma :)

Oddly enough, we can camp all of us with the addition of our add-a-room. The kids sleep on cots or airbeds. The Coolcat AC cools the room very well.

Carmel and Clyde. Carmel, far right and darker in color, passed last year. We had him 13 years, but he "found" us as an adult so we aren't sure of his age. Vet thought he was 2 when he came to us so he was probably around 15. Clyde is now 14 and is a non-camper. He prefers to stay home.

Leo the lab is technically our youngest daughter's dog, but they live with us. She's a college student. Leo is a big sweetheart.

Welcome and love all your pics! Love the TD and all the pups ...

I spent many years living in WI - as a Bears fan since I came from IL originally. Still get ribbed about it from all my Wi friends. Even had to purchase and wear a GB sweatshirt on a bet one year.... but I admit, I then gave it away  The rivalry we had was always fun ... and still ongoing.

Glad to have you with us.

Welcome to the forum. I grew up in Green Bay and will always be a Packer fan despite the fact that I now live in Portland, OR. I have a Raindrop manufactured by Camp Inn located in Necedah, WI. It is a teardrop with a twist. Click on some of my posts and you will see pictures. I love my little trailer.

Happy travels.
Hanging out in Oregon.
