Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Black Friday...This gal is staying home!!!

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Fri Nov 29, 2013 6:17 am

Good morning, all..

Yep, I'm staying in my House on Wheels and just doing "get ready to move" stuff today....Haven't been to a retail store on this day since I did my last "Black Friday" as a manager for Radio Shack 11 years ago...people are crazy on this day while they shop....but for you that do enjoy the shopping today, please be patient with the staff at the stores....they are only doing there jobs and when that "special deal" is gone...it's gone....and it's not the clerk's fault... I still have "Black Friday" war scars..

Had a very nice Thanksgiving Day Dinner here at the park....but somehow there was no "traditional" pumpkin pie...oh there was one that was a combo of pumpkin and apple, but no pumpkin pie.. ..So Ernie's going to run the "gambit" at the store today & get me one.... ;)

Woke up at 4:30am to a temp of 38F here...burrrrr....turned up the heat and turned on the coffee pot...suppose to warm up to about 55F later....

Well, as I said, I got the coffee going and have some cranberry-orange muffins ready...Help yourselves...

Have a great day, all.... :D

Good Morning Lori and all who follow,

I'm not getting into that Black Friday thing either. Don't need to anyway as nobody to shop for except myself. Will be going out later today, but by then the big crowds are gone. Read the other day where a poll is showing that a lot of Americans are starting to shun Black Friday cause of the crowds. And yes Lori, taking it out on the poor store staff is ridiculous. Like you say, you are only doing your jobs. I mentioned that to a lady I was "chatting" with on a Live Chat for the Healthcare website the other night, how it must be frustrating for them to not be able to get into the site to help people either and that I really appreciated the help she did give me. She said she greatly appreciate me for that. So guess I made her evening anyway :)

Cold is the word here too. Only about 4 degrees out there. This is way too cold for November. More like late January weather. Looks like another storm heading across the country for next week too. I'm watching this one as I am supposed to leave to head north next weekend, but am kind of thinking perhaps a few days earlier. Shall see what happens here.

Bit of snow blowing out there this morning for me. Haven't done any since last weekend and it's kind of piling up a little. So time to go and clean up the drive, the deck and so forth. Sassy would probably appreciate not having to walk through about 4 inches of stuff to go potty out there too I'm sure. Then will either head for a big craft show north of here or stay here and shop local as I do need some things. Plan to bake some cookies this weekend.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday and didn't over stuff. My day was quiet, puttering around here, writing my annual Christmas letter and even a short walk in the afternoon.

Those of you who are on the road and moving around today, have a great trip and drive defensive. For all the rest of you that are doing whatever today, have a wonderful day.

Good morning Lori, Sue and all yet to arrive.

Black Friday is a thing of the past ... it now starts on Thursday. :( There is nothing that I need desperately enough to tackle the crowds.

I am looking at a small portable air compressor to top up tires etc. Need to to more research on this. All comments welcomed.

Fall decorations are being taken down, to be replaced with Christmas stuff. This year, rather than decorate the whole house, I am confining it to the foyer, living room, dining room and kitchen (all the main level). That will be enough!!! I will be spending Christmas in Canada, with family but I do want it to look nice here for the neighborhood gathering next week.

That's all for now from chilly Maryland. 26F

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone. We drove about 300 miles yesterday. Most on the I10 heading toward Jacksonville, FL. Very little traffic and just a couple big trucks. But the wind was blowing. Arrived at the Flamingo Lake RV Resort in north Jacksonville all safe and sound. Really big RV park and totally full. Had a meal from the freezer - spaghetti with garlic knots and fell asleep. Today, I will visit with my cousin and aunt. Tonight will be sushi night. We are having a big Thanksgiving celebration Sat night with all the FL fam  There's a poker parlor close to cousin's house so DH can make an eacape.

No Black Friday shopping for me! Don't need anything! Except to fill up the refrigerator and freezer. Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha.

Yep, Black Friday started tonight. One of my co-workers stopped at both Penney's and Target before coming to work tonight, and is hitting Walmart - well already did and might be home now. She knew exactly what she wanted from each place, and got the first two - and hopes Walmart goes as quickly. I can't imagine wanting to do that lol But yes, I worked many a Black Friday. Not sure what to call the Thursday though - and it's getting earlier every year, it seems. People want to blame the stores and so many protests - excuse me? As long as the lines are outside the doors before they open (she said target was crazy) it's not going to stop.

Hope you all have a good day ... Two more nights and I get two more days off - counting my nights and weeks to leave for Baja ... can't wait.

Good morning all! No black Friday here either. I was oon the other side for many years too. I actually enjoyed watching thwe people and working that day (except for getting up early!!) until the last few years. When people made a fun day of it and a family tradition it was fun to watch. Had a crowd that sort of grew yesterday and it was fun. (They must have got word of my cooking!!) Have to see where I can dispose of turkey frying oil today! On the agenda getting son to check back brakes on my car today, gathering tomorrow to watch the big ball game (big in these parts) Sunday SIL's 70th bday. I havent seen most of my late husbands family in awhile so looking forward to that. If I get some odds and ends done, time to head back to KY where I hear its colder than here!! Ya'll have a GREAT after turkey day! Wendy

Good Morning everyone… another cool almost cold day here in Ocala…
We had a very nice dinner at the club house…
My old body has not stopped hurting since I got here… hopefully the break is coming and some warm days will arrive next week…
I have taken Shadow to the poo field every day… ride my trike there.. what a good dog he is to put up with me…
I am with everyone else on here no Black Friday… years before I have done some on line and one year my son was coming and I had not shopped so went to Meijer and just happened to get their hourly special and got a TV…
Without wheels I would not be able to go even if I wanted to…
The shower house is up and running now but no heat in there…
There seems to be fighting factions here in the mobile home part of this park… yikes glad I have selective hearing… do not want to even get close to that kind of thing… it hurts many people…
TV had a Gone With the Wind marathon on Wed… my that was some movie… the rent here includes wifi and cable tv… sure can't beat that...
Have a great day everyone…

Christmas parade here tonight! I'm looking forward to that. One of those small-town Midwestern things. Several bunches of friends are turning up for the event, and it will be fun to watch them mix. I'm looking forward to finding out what Wencui makes of it all. ;) Another first for her while she's in the US for a postdoc year.

No Black Friday for me, either. I'd go if there was a specific sale item I really wanted, but there are none this year. I don't like to watch people being rude and mean-spirited to each other.

Today is my driving to Houston day. Vickie and Ronnie have both been wonderful hosts and created a wonderful "Club House" available for our comfort and gatherings. As both Nan and Mitch mentioned Vickie's sister and wonderful family included the three of us in their family gathering yesterday and it was a great reminder of what gathering friends and family to give thanks is all about.

Nan pulled out a little while ago and when I finish up here I need to go inside and say my goodbye and final thank yous. No shopping sprees planned for me.....I have what I need to get down the road and any gifts are going to be generated through the internet from my computer! Still waiting for my daughter to seed me her suggestion list. Her birthday id December 8th.....

SHpe carefully today and travel bravely forth to your adventures of the day!

Lori, can't imagine a pumpkin/apple pie combo. Sounds yucky to me :? . Hope you get your pumpkin pie today!

Due to my bad cold yesterday, I decided to forgo the fight for that kayak this morning and instead bought my airline tickets for my Florida trip in January. I ill be there from the 23rd thru the 30th in Crystal River but will go down to Tampa for a day or two for the GTG there to meet all you gals who will be there. :D

Yesterday, I saw a family with young kids out skating on a large bay near my dad's house. That ice is nowhere safe, especially on that bay which has a lot of springs in it, and with the lake down as low as it is, that makes it very unsafe. Just don't understand why people put there kids at risk like that! This morning, there are a few fishermen out on my small bay but they are in an area that has been frozen for a week or so, and they are usually good about testing the ice depth with their augers first. I still would not go out there myself tho! You just never know...

I have to stop at the bank today and then Walgreens for a couple things, but otherwise, just laundry and some clean up around my place. Slept good and feeling a little better this morning. At least my nose is dried up for now.

Hope you all stay warm and dry today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Morning to All. Couldn't do Black Friday stuff if I wanted to....being here in San Carlos, MX Actually not at home either as there aren't any retail stores in the little town we live in! Don't remember the last time I did one. Years and years ago.
We had a great day yesterday. Our RV neighbors and a friend who lives here on a sailboat went to a little restaurant for their Thanksgiving dinner: Waldorf salad to begin then turkey, mashed potatoes and gravey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and sweet potato Ending with pumpking pie and whipped cream. So full afterward.......don't think I'll be hungrey for a couple of days.
Today Alfie - our 40' motorhome - is getting washed and waxed. We have to provide the wax which we bought yesterday. Cost in US dollars - $70.00
We are thinking of getting the graphics repainted in Mazatlan - we'll see. They are getting pretty faded.

Good Morning. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner at my mom and sister’s. I am so thankful that Mary Ann is willing to do Thanksgiving because it was my least favorite holiday to have. Hated coming home from work on Wednesday and having to prepare for the masses on Thursday…although I do miss the leftovers! No more Black Friday shopping for me. I’ve been on both sides of it that game and didn’t care for either! Only time I hauled my butt out of bed at O dark thirty to get a bargain on TV’s for the boys at Wally World they were out of stock by the time I got to the electronics department but they did issue rain checks and then to top it off they ran the TV’s at the same price for the whole month of December! Missy and her daughter asked me if I wanted to go to Mitchell with them around 8 but I passed. Yesterday I noticed that Ashley was having definite problems with her pants. I don’t blame the women for not wanting to spend a mint on maternity clothes but darn it you have to comfortable too. This morning I did a little research on DIY maternity clothes and found an excellent demo on turning jeans into maternity wear. So I called Ashley and told her while she was shopping today to stop in Goodwill and find a pair of cheap jeans and we’d see what we can do…if it works out she can buy some more pants and we’ll alter them. She’ll be able to keep her pre pregnancy clothes that she likes intact. Her belly has really blossomed in the last couple of weeks and she still has about four months to go.
Well I have to accomplish something today so I’d better get to work. Have a good day everyone.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Yikes!

Forgot about Black Friday - I hired a fellow to help me go to a home depot (quite a distance) and get one of those garden shed contraptions.
Hope we don't spend the whole day trying to get in and out of the store!

He's also going to retop the roof and do a few other small mechancial thgings around the RV. My getter-downer and getter-upper muscles
just don't work so good any more.
When I die I'm gonna be cremated. I can't stand the idea of spending eternity in a box with no wheels.
