My Un-Dream Rig

I play classical music on my outdoor radio. Hearing music is preferable to the irritating noise that sometimes emanates from some camp sites.

Unfortunately, I am one of these people who cannot concentrate with any kind of music playing in the background, so I would really prefer people play music quietly indoors or use headphones outdoors.

I also prefer no music. I LOVE music, but what I love will not be what someone else loves. When I don't mind music, if the right hours of day, are when people are actually playing - like a couple a few sites from me now are blue grass musicians, and occasionally one or both sits outside playing. Even though blue grass isn't my preferred music, I like hearing it when they are playing (not loudly!). Same as I enjoy when people are sitting around campfires enjoying themselves - talking, with music, etc. But I don't want to hear the stereos and boomboxes ... keep those to yourself. (Course, unlike Joan, if you play some old time rock and roll, I might forgive you!)

Sounds (pun intended) like we all have differing degrees of tolerance.

While in Baja, I nominate my rig/area as The Quiet Zone.

Loud noise/music/talking has always annoyed me, not just since I've been old.
Never was much for bars because I could not tolerate the volume of the music, even if it was the kind of music I liked.

How is it fun to have to scream right in someones ear in order for them to hear you?
I never understood that. Still don't.

I love rock n roll. What is irritating is the mother constantly harping at her kids/dogs. The shrill screams from children or a dog that barks excessively. The loud rumble of diesel trucks left idling.

Give me music anytime instead of that.

I totally agree! I could enjoy the music much more if it wasn't breaking my eardrums! I can't even hear myself think, let alone carry on a conversation with someone!

I go camping and into the woods to find solitude and relax. Can't do that with lots of racket going on! I am ADD and loud noises are very distracting and nerve wracking to me.

(Or time out station for my kids) Carpet drives me crazy with kids and dogs and why put a table over it? We took out our table and have dog crates there. So now we have 4 chairs to nowhere...

I agree! I put them on the bed to take a couple pics before we left home for this year. Then I forgot about them until we arrived and I don't know what to do with them. I don't want to throw them away but they r killing me. It's like they're all snickering when I move them around.

Becky you are hilarious, loved the way you described your husband. Seventeen throw pillows might be a bit excessive. maybe you can donate them along the way. Better keep a few, with those fish hooks flying around you might need one to sit on someday!

I too always disliked going places where the music was so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation, plus it hurt my ears. I never turn music on at home, I do listen to it when driving alone.

And most of my excess crap is because at some point I thought I just had to have it. I started out so minimal - and still look around and say "how did this get here"" I mean I'm by myself, so it didn't just appear - I must have brought it in, right? Or maybe the imp that takes pie from Carol's rig puts things in my rig?
