My Un-Dream Rig

I appear to be one of the very few people who actually uses her oven. I insisted on having one and make cookies, bake bread and banana nut bread, roast meat, and a lot of other things. I do hate the way you have to bend over or get on your knees to light the pilot, but could not live without my oven.

I would like an oven since I use mine in my apartment a lot! (gotta have my evening cookies and milk! )

Am wondering why they don't have a clicker button to light the oven like they have on gas grills? Must be a good reason for that. Anyone know?

The one and only thing I can think about that I don't care for is that you have to practically stand on your head to light the pilot in the oven, and yes, I do use my oven, lots. If the burners on top have an electric ignitor, why can't the oven? Other than that, I love our rig.

Vicki, you should see my ceiling. It has this fuzzy stuff that is sort of like carpeting. Makes no sense whatsoever. I think it stores dust so occasionally I get my vacuum out and vacuum it! It is also not easy to clean, so you can't swat bugs on it! And I assume it also traps things like grease from cooking. Yuck!

I thought I would miss the oven. However, I'm learning how to use the convection oven. Can do cookies, cakes, everything you can do with a gas oven. I like the storage that is where the oven would have been The outdoor entertainment center is a waste on me. Haven't used it yet. My outdoor shower is in the wet bay and I like to use it to clean out the wet bay and wash my hands after dumping. I did not want the washer and dryer that came with the rig. I wanted the storage space instead. However, I changed my mind. It is a total indulgence. As long as I have a water hook up and electric, I like being able to do a quick load. I still do bedding and towels at the CG laundry. I don't like carpet. I love the laminate flooring instead of carpet. However, there is still carpet on the slides for some reason and it gets dirty quickly.

Hate carpets, glad we replaced with laminate (not slides though). Oven is storage, love the combo micro/convection. Didn't want washer/dryer but now love it. Bed on slide has end tables on both sides with great storage, but full queen instead of short queen caused loss of full drawers under the closet. Don't like the way the window coverings r designed and they will be a b.... To replace. Never have used either outdoor hose or entertainment center. Love extra long slide but not carpet in front of refrigerator. No complaints about storage but hate the dark cabinets. Love bath and 1/2 with tGM here too as well as 2 tv's. Great thread.

They actually put the same fuzzy carpet stuff under my kitchen sink! So when the drain pipes came apart, of course it got impregnated with smelly stuff, and of course that was the day I had cooked seafood and had dumped the water from the pot down the drain!

Very impractical. Have since covered it with peel and stick tile.

I see a lot of the posts are about the ridiculous "design" features the manufacturers have added such as surface coverings. I think a lot of these things sell rigs, but otherwise are useless. And there must be a better solution than having to put carpeting on slides!!!

2. I, too, hate outdoor speakers for ANYTHING. I go camping for the peace and quiet NOT to listen to other people's music, etc. In a quiet park the sound carries a lot more than people realize.

My motorhome has a pipe installed under the motorhome for the sewer pipe. You can put the hose in it but the fitting to connect it to dump won't fit. As hard as it is to attach the fitting I sure wouldn't be taking it off and on every time. I would like to ask who ever designed that how they expect anyone to use it.

The sofa's kind of a silly arrangement in my new one, I'd rather have a banquet

The forced air heat - useless when boondocking, and most people use a space heater when on shore power. I'd rather have storage

The passenger seat in the cab - old RV, I kept looking at it and thinking about taking it out. I used the footwell as my garbage.

Do people hang up clothes? I probably have more occasions to dress up than most full timers, I've got a professional job,
and it's pretty marginal for me.
I have started wearing a lot of skirts, and those do well hung.

My new RV has a really crazy arrangement of cabinet space. It's like they expected you to carry a huge assortment of cookware. My old RV I had all the pots and pans in a small overhead cabinet, worked fine.

I have an intense dislike of small shower spaces.

I wouldn't have an rv that didn't have enough counter space in the kitchen.

I do not have outside speakers and hate other rv's that do. If I can hear your music in my rv, it's too loud. I will ask you to turn it down. If you refuse I will wait until your are temporarily gone from your rv, then I will disconnect your power cord and cut it in half. No more loud music!

Most of the outdoor music I've heard in campgrounds comes from boom boxes, and I've had dreams of throwing them in the lake. But would I ever actually DO IT? Or cut someone's power cord? I think not. But I do find outdoor music irritating, and it seems it's always the kind of music I would find irritating in any setting!
