I agree it's hard to guess dogs weight especially with long fur, etc. For most people dogs are either mini, small, medium, large, XLarge or giant.

I know all too well about the bad dog stigmas, but I'll take the big black dog over the little ankle biters anyday. I think if people would be responsible with their own dogs everyone would get along much better.

In researching this for my own, the state parks are a little more open, but it's always a good idea to call first.

RV arrived on Friday and for being a 2006 it is in wonderful condition inside & out. We will be taking our 1st. trip for with 2 Rotties for 4 days on Sunday. I have been packing today so we only have to take food and clothes with us on other trips. Staying close until we learn all the ins & outs of the RVing so we are going to Dead Horse State Park. The AZ state parks website is excellent. Pics, info, park map that you can click on the each site number telling you what is offered along with pics of the immediate area. So far nothing more on dogs at AZ State parks except they must be on a 6' ft. max leash at all times and not be left attended. No problem with that. I did contact a couple of Private campgrounds that said they do not accept aggressive breeds like Pits & Rotts. BOO on breed discrimination regardless of breed. Have 2 other trips planned, November to Alamo Lake and in Janurary to Lost Dutchman State park. Both in AZ. Have you been to either of these? Thanks much, Elizabeth

The breed discrimination gets ridicules, especially when the three most aggressive dogs are all small.

Hi Lovely Ladies,

We enjoyed our 1st. RV trip to Dead Horse Ranch Sate Park in Arizona. The Coach House is very nice and cushy. The only thing we are going to get are 2" matress toppers. Everything else was great and we have another trip planned to Alamo Lake, AZ later this month. It was quite an adventure and we learned many things such as, watch out for rattlesnakes warming themselves on pavement when you do your PM or AM dog walks,(we swear that baby rattler was stalking us) & when the holding tanks switch to full...haul ass down to the dump station! Luckily we only had 2" of gray water in the shower.

Our 2 Rotties did OK for their 1st. RV experience with the exception of waking each AM at 3:30 to run the aisle and jump on our beds. Up & dressed for a quiet late spin around our loop to make sure they didn't need to "top" off. They didn't, they just wanted us up to amuse their energy and an early breakfast ;-( Glad we brought the bark collars. No barking inside but they definately alerted to anyone walking in front of our site. We figured they would as we live on 2 acres and they are not used to people walking by so close. After the 3rd. day they definately began to realize it was normal and in time they should adjust to RV parks nicely. So gald we bought our RV!

I'm so glad everything went so well on your first outing with the rv and doggies. Keeping an eye on the tanks will be something that you'll learn in time, knowing approximately how many days you can go till dumping and how to be more conservative with water usage will extend that time.

glad that you got that first trip under your belt and are still smiling and loving it. And yes the dogs usually adjust to the new parameters of their space..... It takes awhile but mine adjusted to not always getting walked at the crack of dawn. Like you I don't like to call their bluff on their requests because, especially on those first days out I know that their system is adjusting to the new routines..... What they have learned is that if I do let them out early in the dawns first light....they need not expect a nice walk. I am in my pj's and it is a..... stay in the immediate area, do any serious business you might need and expect to be bundled back to bed.....

Great news. So glad to hear all went well.

Peaches quickly learns with each place we stay what is "our" site ... yours did well coming to the conclusion quickly after being so used to such a vast area to call their own.
