How did I miss all this fantastic info about you, Annie, and about your job???? I have been really remiss about visiting the welcome room, and that's my loss! I hope you don't mind that I copied your post answer about Second Life being appropriate for kids and emailed it to my daughter who teaches at St. Lawrence University in upsate NY. She is an environmental engineer professor, and some of those links you included in there will definitely interest her, if she hasn't already found them! It's wonderful to have you on board here----I wish you could get to our FL GTG this January, but, if not that one, hopefully another one soon!

I had to come back in here and edit my original post as I only read the first page and then I read on. OMG, how wonderful and I can't wait to get involved in Second Life. Hey maybe we could have a Women RV gtg in Second Life. Wow, I'll never get outside again. I can be my dream me. Oh wait until you see me girls. Do we have to pick up after our dogs on Second Life? Mitch, have you created the BMR yet?

Hi! I'm just north of you in Sarasota. There is a consignment yard in Sarasota (Campbell RV) where I bought my Class C. Colin Campbell is very nice. No pressure. Very patient. Stop by to see him and let him show you around. They also sell new travel trailers. If you come up this way, let me know. (PM me) CarolD is also in Sarasota but at a different campground.

I am new to this site myself, so I want to welcome you. Just to let you know that I found your post very helpful to me. I just was as astounded about the many nice replies that I received to my initial post. I replied, but somehow screwed up and it never showed up. The replies I got from the women were very nurturing and insightful. Your post is helping me to make some decisions for my future. I retired afer working for the government for 28 years, retired in Chandler, AZ, got bored with retirement (small talk is not my forte), and got a job in the most northern part of S. Korea working for the Army at Camp Casey. After my tour is up, I want to fullfill the dream of traveling.
My question to all fulltime Rvers is how do you make sure that you don't get lonely? I love being by myself, but now and than I need some social contact. I saw from Bethers Post that you all get together now and than. That would be attractive. Another question: As a single woman, are the couple RVers generally friendly and helpful. I know generalizatons are always full of errors. I would imagine that perhaps there is a special camaradery among RVers. I am just curious and as you all said before - join this group and learn.

I'm not going to answer all your last questions here - as this really is Annie's intro post - but if you head over to the general room - you can find lots of posts about how we keep from being lonely etc - and the gtg's are a great way to be with others with similar interests. And, yes, most rver's are lots of fun - couples and singles. You've also been invited on your thread to meet with Carol and Joan - and now Joan also invited you here - take them up on it - what fun - that you can meet folks right away!

This is an update of my status.

I'm now working on a contract for Oregon State University, so I'm driving up to Oregon in the next week or so.

I've purchased a new 26 ft class C, I thought my old one wouldn't make it.

Hi Annie from. The local paper had an article a year or so ago about urban boondocking in Chicago, but seemed most people had to keep on the move. Sounds like you had a good thing going with a permanent place to park. Good luck on the job in Oregon. Drive safe & congrats on the new rig.

From your previous posts I am thinking that you were ready for the upgrade on your vehicle. Living on the edge is fine for a while but especially if you are moving up the coast a fully functioning rig will provide creature comforts and increased confidence of reliability! Congratulations on your new contract. Are you still working out there in the "web"? Do check out the member map. There seems to have been a flurry of activity this past year and new adventurous members coming on board! I have been thinking about you and glad that you checked back in!

Hi Annie. I live in Portland, Oregon. There are a few of us in the Pacific NW! Five of us got together in October for a mini-GTG and we had a lot of fun. Even went country line dancing in a barn! It was my first GTG and I can't wait to do it again. You will find lots of friends here!
