We have always had Good Sam Road side assistance never used it but felt good having it...my husband didn't do changes easily
so we never looked into any of the others...I over looked paying so right now not covered. and need to do it before I leave here.
What are your experiences with the different groups...because we never used Good Sam even though we had it I really don't even know
much about it.
I'm sure that we have had this discussion in the past but would like to reopen it and get new thoughts from our new members as well

The only time we needed it was when Mitch got us stuck in her yard! :roll: We called Coach Net & they sent out a wrecker big enough to winch us over to the pavement in no time flat & it didn't cost us anything! Without coverage, it would have probably been around $500 or more.

I have Good Sams. Used them twice for dead batteries and for the time I ran over the mattress. They call local contractors, so service can vary. The battery guy came quickly but I waited about 4 hours for the guys in Jacksonville FL.

They both usually have the same contracts with service. I had GS ... only had good experiences with them.

I've only had GS and have had to use them several times in different areas of the country and have always had good service from them, with very nice men doing the service. It depends where you are as to how fast you will get them out. In the desolate country side a long ways from any towns, you might wait awhile. Near huge cities, you may also wait awhile as they might be very busy, especially if they have numerous interstate roads going through or by them. The day of the week may make your wait longer also. Time limit as to when they might get there has never bothered me, I have all the comforts of home .

I doubt I will ever change my road service, they have been there for me with RV and my car. I would think others might be able to say the same of their road services too. So you just have to pick and if not satisfied for some reason, change.

Good Luck in your choice, Sheila, GS will re instate you with no problem if you want to stay with them. If you have the bill, just mail it in.

We have Coach Net. We have not needed to use then (knock on wood), so really can't add an opinion. :P

I can only vote for CoachNet because that's all I've ever had. They were GREAT when VICKIE got stuck in my yard and GREAT again when I had a flat on my little car in the garage. It's so unusual to say these days, but I love their service. My home/auto insurance offered similar coverage, for less money, but comparing the two, CoachNet came out way ahead.

Coach Net here but I have not had to use it for anything big. Like Beth I suspect that Coach Net and Good Sam are similar. Their advantage is that both specialize in RVs and have a reputation for asking the right questions so that they send the right sort of help. They understand that some hugh rigs can not be towed by normal tow trucks, etc.

Wasn't it Coach Net that Sprinter used to tow her rig back to Whitehorse, Yukon......that was as long ride back to civilization. :?

I dropped Good Sam only because I got tired of the barrage of junk mail they kept sending. Had Coach Net but never had to use them. Now, since I have a small rig, I use the towing on my Safeco insurance policy. When I had the dead battery at home they send a tow truck immediately and one that knew about hooking up RV's. Didn't actually know it was a dead battery causing rig not to start. the tow truck driver is the one who actually figured out it was the battery.

I have used GS only once back in January in Quartzsite. I had stopped for propane before heading back to California. There was a lady at the gas station who spoke only Spanish and had locked herself out of her car, blocking other cars from getting gas. I decided to call GS. Took close to an hour for them to come, but it was at the time of the big Quartzsite show. Took no time to get her on her way.

Had really bad experience with GS while at Grand Canyon...changed to Coach Net & love it.....

A story about GS ... When Sparkle was diagnosed and we were heading quickly back to Alabama, we stopped at a wayside in the snow (yes, snow) in the higher elevations in AZ. It's an area dead to phone service. Jean's tow bar and hitch had a serious problem. I was about to drive back to service to call GS, when the first miracle happened. Jeans phone got a bar. She called GS and they admitted we were at least 60 miles from any town/any service - but they would find someone to help. The only place doing service in that town didn't answer their phones. GS called everyone everywhere and found a small mechanical shop who agreed to come out (on a one time only basis for GS) - realize this is Friday late afternoon - would be dinner time before they could reach us. Jean's phone again got a bar and GS called to say someone would be out in about 1 1/2 hours. Two nice men showed up ... and it was not something that could be fixed on the spot. It was now snowing HARD. I couldn't get Jean's generator started. They got it started and showed me what to do later to start it again (Jean's strength was such she couldn't do it, and it was a really bad night for her). They took Jean's truck and all the problem parts with them back to town - and said they'd be back first thing in the morning with it all fixed. And they meant first thing because one of them had a child in some sports thing in the morning he didn't intend to miss. They have to have worked till midnight or later to get things fixed. They were back early - got everything hitched back up and taken care of.

From the moment they arrived to help on Friday night, we never had any cell service again at that location. They were absolutely awesome and wouldn't take a penny from either of us for all the time they spent etc. Jean's generator always started for me without a hitch after that, also. They then signed up for GS service - figuring they needed to help us "ladies" who get stuck on the road.

This could have happened with any service ... just a story I like.

thank you all for your replies..will need to get in touch probably with GS as I have there phone number...one thing we
had with them for a couple of years and then forgot to reup with was a extra thing where if you had this plus they would
get the rv 'home' in the event of illness ect I sure wish I'd had it when Larry was sick in Q and ended up flying him back to SLC.
we had a good friend fly from WA and drive it to SLC

Shiela -

They have a Good Sam's TravelAssist which will take care of getting you and/or spouse or travelling companion back home if you are ill or injured as well as getting your RV back home. I think the price is very reasonable for the peace of mind that it gives me what with travelling with Terri and her cancer. It covers you even when you are not in your RV which I like also.

Regardless of which one that you get, I hope you never have to use them. Good Sam gave us terrific service the one time that Terri almost pulled the whole end cap off of our Class C.

I have had GS for for almost 5 years. I used them for the first time last Thursday. I was told the wait would be 30 to 90 minutes for the tire guy to arrive. He arrived within 30 minutes. I was very satisfied. Hope, I never have to make that call again. :D
